2008 Paris Worldwide Invitational - The Beginning

Posted 1st Jul 2008 01:29 AM by Maticus

The day had finally arrived. We trooped down to the exhibition center that was housing the Paris Worldwide Invitational, heavily laden with cameras, tripods, laptops, notebooks, Dictaphones and anything else we might need for the event. It was 3 hours before the show officially started, and already the queues were stretching further than the eye could see.

Clutching our press passes, we bypassed the masses and entered at a side door, which led to the press room. There were already dozens of reporters from all over the world set up at the rows of tables with power and Internet access. We quickly grabbed some spare spaces and hunkered down.

It was at this point that Leord decided to go and film the queue outside. If you were there, check out the movie to see if you can spot yourself. He also spoke to a couple of guys who were entering the Costume Contest.

Back inside the event, we heard the first of the fans being let in. After the rush had subsided somewhat, we thought it would be a good time to go and get our goody bags. Upon inspection, I found the Diablo notebook, which I immediately posted on our front page - it seemed Blizzard might be hinting at something…

The opening ceremony was about to begin, so we gathered our belongings and headed for the press area at the front of the main stage. We jostled for a good camera spot, set ourselves up and waited for the fun to start. The auditorium was electric with excitement, anticipation was high, and as you’ll see from our movies, panel interviews and much much more, Blizzard certainly did not disappoint.
