There was another Q & A Press Conference at BlizzCon over the weekend, which Production Director of World of Warcraft J Allen Brack was attending, along with Diablo III’s Jay Wilson.
We’ve sifted out the WoW questions and answers, here are the highlights:
Q: Will there be veteran rewards (rewards for long-standing players)?
A: Not right now but it’s something we want to do in the future.
Q: Will the rest of WoW’s classes ever be able to start at level 55 like the Death Knight?A: It’s been discussed, but we haven’t decided if there is a way to do it properly yet. Never say never though.
Q: Will there be any new Secondary Professions?A: We are looking at it, we’d love to add another secondary profession.
Q: If we kill Arthas, who’s left? Who will be next?A: We don’t really know right now, we need to start talking about the next expansion. Sargeras, Deathwing, the Titans, Old Gods and/or their minions are all left right now.
Q: Will there be Paid Character Customisation?A: (Initially No Comment) Yes, there will be Paid Character Customisation at some point. We don’t have any details yet though.
Q: Who will be the hardest boss when Wrath of the Lich King launches?A: Kel’thuzad in Naxxramas will be the hardest boss when Lich King launches.
Q: Did you hesitate over any changes in Wrath of the Lich King?A: Yes, class changes are very risky, they all get more powerful. We want all changes to feel positive. Some changes may need a nerf once in a while, but we want people to see positive changes.
Q: Will characters just look more and more epic as the level caps go up? Will the shoulders just get bigger?
A: Art is getting better and changing style all the time. There will always be fresh ideas.
A: It has been developed for players who want to get into Wrath content sooner.
Q: Will there ever be a Warcraft 4?A: Our RTS team is currently working all out on StarCracft II. When they have finished, they will move onto something else. If they want to do WC4 then they will, if not, they won’t. But we’re sure to do it someday.
Q: Will players actually kill Arthas in the final encounter with him?A: We don’t know, the fight isn’t designed yet. Bosses rarely live though, Illidan dies, Kaelthas was the only one so far to be brought back, so it’s reasonable to say that players will kill Arthas.
Q: Will Frostmourne drop?
A: We don’t know yet, there might be only one of them on a server, there might be swords called Shard of Frostmourne, it might shatter into several pieces and players have to reassemble them. Frostmourne corrupts though, so it’s unlikely.
