Posted 14th Oct 2008 02:21 AM by Maticus

BlizzCon 2008 is over, and what a show it was! We’ve just travelled the 6,000 mile trip back to chilly old England, so before I hit the sack, here’s a round up of our WoW coverage so far from Blizzard’s huge event:

Friday October 10th

  • BlizzCon 2008 Opening Ceremony: Mike Morhaime announces that when Lich King goes on sale at midnight November 13th, WoW devs will be sent to selected stores all over the world to sign boxes for players who have queued up to buy the game. The Lich King cinematic was shown for the first time on a big screen and attendees were told that they have a Starcraft II beta key in their goody bags. A new Diablo III class, the Wizard, was announced, and a short movie to show off some of its moves and spells was played. Watch the highlights of the opening ceremony.
  • WoW UI Panel: The devs go over the game’s User Interface, and describe how they came up with the new Achievement UI, the Death Knight UI and the new Pet and Mount UI, followed by a Q&A session. Read more. Highlights video coming soon.
  • WoW Class Panel: There were two of these panels, due to their huge popularity. Both sessions were packed full, as devs discussed changes to WoW’s classes in Lich King. Read the more. Highlights video coming soon.
  • WoW Art Panel: WoW’s artists talk about creating the art in the game. Highlights video coming soon.
  • Fansite Q&A with Mike Morhaime (Not open to the public): Mike Morhaime sat down and answered questions from the fansites about Blizzard’s games. Watch the full video.

Saturday October 11th

  • WoW PvP Panel: WoW devs discuss and demonstrate Lich King’s two new Arenas, Ring of Valor and Dalaran Sewers, the new Battleground, Strand of the Ancients, and Wintergrasp. Highlights video coming soon.
  • WoW Raids and Dungeons: WoW devs discuss and demonstrate some upcoming dungeons and raids from Wrath of the Lich King, including Halls of Lightning, Ahn’kahet, Chamber of Aspects and Eye of Eternity. Read more here. Highlights video coming soon.
  • WoW Q&A: A large panel of WoW devs including Chris Metzen, Jay Allen Brack, Tom Chilton and Jeffrey Kaplan sat down to answer anything WoW related from the attendees. Highlights video coming soon.
  • WoW Press Conference: WoW Devs answer questions from the press. Jay Allen Brack reveals Paid Character Customisation is coming. Full video coming soon.
  • Developer Interview: WoW’s Lead Designer Jeffrey Kaplan sits down with us and answers your questions. Watch the video.
  • Frank Pierce Interview: Blizzard’s Co-Founder Frank Pierce speaks to Wandering Goblin’s Pig. Watch the video.

Also, don’t forget to check out our BlizzCon gallery, or add your own BlizzCon photos!

Over the next few days, we’ll be adding tonnes of video and articles about the various panels and sessions with the developers. Make sure to stay tuned for all the latest info. You can find a hub of all our BlizzCon WoW coverage here, which will be added to as more articles and videos appear.

I Dont Think blizzard HQ Anaheim-california, New York and Germany really count as "all over the world". I think they embellished a bit there.

You didnt get your own Warcraft interview in this time? :( loads of Diablo videos at Incgamers.

Yes we did get our own interview, with Jeffrey Kaplan no less! The movie will be going up as soon as it’s rendered. (EDIT: Watch it here!) All the travelling has hindered the process somewhat smile

And yes, I hope there will be a few more places added to the "worldwide" destinations for Blizzard Devs on launch night lol.
