Druid Swipe Generates 50% More Threat

Posted 16th Dec 2008 11:05 PM by Medievaldragon

Ghostcrawler reported a hotfix was implemented today to increase Druid Tank's Swipe ability to generate 50% more threat. The limit of targets affected was removed, allowing swipe to hit any nearby enemies. This allows Druids to be more efficient to handle large crowds of mobs. Looks like a very good buff that benefits 25-man raiding considerably. Druids can generate rage more effectively by containing threat of multiple mobs too. What are your thoughts with this hotfix?

Ghostcrawler: We think we might try increasing threat by 50% because that is something easy to hotfix. That should buy you enough globals to do other things, and provide enough wiggle room if you get a target out of the area for one Swipe. We'll consider additional changes after we've had a chance to see how that plays out.

The change for Swipe to generate an additional 50% threat is now live. Please let us know how it goes.

This is pretty awesome.  As a druid tank I had noticed that swipe didn’t quite cut it when there was a warrior whirlwinding or a paladin using divine storm.  In order to keep threat in these situations I would have to tab between the mobs and lacerate, sometimes losing threat on the primary mob.

Woot.

Yes, for sure. As a feral tank i was having a real problem holding agro on multiple mobs when aoe tanking. This is a huge boon. It should really make
things a lot more controllable in mass situations. Thanks bliz
