Flight In Azeroth Looking More Likely
Posted 27th Jul 2009 05:19 PM by Maticus [Edit this post]

EU Community Manager Ancilorn just made a post on the official forums that made my hair stand up a little. He answered one of the trillion questions that must get posted every day, asking when we will be able to use our flying mounts in Azeroth. And for once, it sounds like it's a possibility...

Blizzard Quote: (Source)
The vanilla flavour lands were never designed with free flight in mind. That, coupled with the introduction of character flight at higher levels gave us a chance to stagger when and how players see content. With changes to mounts and their systems in the past, and those coming our way in the not too distant future with 3.2, this may be addressed further down the line.

It's been discussed at great length of course. I mean, who would not talk about this? smile There are so many plans for changes and updates to the experiences we all have within the world and so many ideas we would simply love to put in place. Ideas like this keep us going, driving us to continue to make cool improvements.

When blues start talking about things, it’s usually a sign that whatever they’re talking about is coming. They wouldn’t get our hopes up needlessly smile

OMG I’m getting more hyped about BlizzCon every day.

Yeah, another dev hinted about that recently. I remember thinking it would make sense if we had to go back to Azeroth with phasing technology (maybe in some level of the Nightmare).

I really admire Blizzard’s dedication and am very satisfied with the many improvements that have been made over the years.

This would be so neat to see.  I for one would go back and do all of the quests that I missed the first time.

Here’s what it says:

“No point in debating, heres the REAL scoop kids…

Cataclysm is the next Wow X-Pack

New level cap is 85.

Horde = Goblin
Alliance = Worgen

Azeroth zones completed & flying mounts enabled.

Zone changes & phasing in Azeroth - Desolace with trees, Barrens with volcanic eruptions!

Cross realm adventuring, think BGs but for PVE & the possiblilty to start new characters at level 50.

Enjoy! “

Lol, love the way everyone completely ignores it xD

Sounds good though, any of those things would be cool. I wonder why the lvl cap would only be 85 though.

Yeah, not sure about the lvl cap at 85… although I do remember reading a quote from someone at Blizz that they wanted 100 to be the max level.  But if we hit 90 in the next, that only leaves 1 more expansion.  Making the new cap 85 would allow more expansions between now and the ultimate end game.

And something that I thought of yesturday, looking at an old map (pre-BC) of Azeroth was that for any of the areas we have yet to explore, Blizz can change the landscape to make an area bigger or smaller… like they did with Quel’Thelas in BC.

The rest of the quote sounds great.  I’m trying to not get my hopes up too much on any theme for the expansion… just looking forward to hearing the official news from Blizzcon.
