Spoilers: The Icecrown Glacier quests are among the best quests in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion and that’s an overstatement. Especially when Icecrown has at least 140 quests listed in the Achievements System. When Blizzard Entertainment developers said this expansion was designed from the ground up to have Arthas the Lich King be a permanent presence throughout level 70-80, they weren’t bluffing. Every single time you have a questline wrap up fighting special bosses, Arthas the Lich King will pop up in and out like Nightcrawler ... (BAMPF, sulfur stench and all).
In this Ebon Blade questline, the Banshee you converted to the Ebon Blade’s cause helps you capture the bravest Vrykul hero from his hibernation chamber and to defeat it. Thereafter, you challenge Overthane Balargarde and lo and behold ... Arthas the Lich King shows up midfight. Tremble mortals!

Banshee’s Revenge
Bone Witch: The time has come, (name). You and your friends must challenge the lord of Balargarde Fortress, the master of Jotunhelm, Overthane Balargarde.
Atop the fortress, which is on the southwestern edge of Jotunhelm, you will find a horn. Blow into it. Allow your challenge to resound throughout the steadfast.
Balargarde will have no choice but to face you. And I ... excuse me, Vardmadra will be there to adjudicate the challenge.
(The banshee-possessed vrykul lets out a bellowing cackle.)

Overthane Balargarde: You think to challenge me? You haven’t earned the right!
Possessed Vardmadra: Wrong, Balargarde. You WILL accept this challenge!
Overthane Balargarde: Vardmadra?! Did The Lich King send you personally? Very well. I will dispatch these creatures. It is only an inconvenience. Prepare to die! Safirdrang, let them feel the chill of Icecrown!
(Note: Around 20% health The Lich King appears.)
Overthane Balargarde: STOP! Kneel fools. It’s The Lich King!
The Lich King: Honor guard stay where you are. Vardmadra, I’d wondered where you disappeared to. How is Iskalder?
Possessed Vardmadra: My lord.
The Lich King: I see through your disguise, Lady Nightswood. YOU THINK THAT YOU CAN FOOL ME?!
Possessed Vardmadra: But ...!
(Note: The Lich King kills Vardmadra the Val’kyr.)
The Lich King: You may continue your combat, overthane.
Overthane Balargarde: But, my lord ...?
The Lich King: But nothing! Finish them! DO NOT FAIL ME, BALARGARDE!
(Note: After The Lich King leaves, the Banshee abandons Vardmadra’s body.)
Overthane Balargarde: DIE DOGS!
(Note: After Overthane Balargarde dies, The Lich King teleports in once more.)
