Levelling Speed from 60 to 70 Increased on Beta?

Posted 22nd Jul 2008 02:01 PM by Maticus

Players on the beta have noticed the levelling speed on the beta between the levels of 60 and 70 seems to have been increased. The total amount of XP needed per level is lower.

Tigole answered the queries about whether this will be permanent, on the official forums:

[blue=http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=8202385165&postId=82016278245&sid=2000#12]Yes, we’re planning on speeding up leveling in the 60-70 range. Keep the feedback coming. We are still adjusting it. Let us know what levels you are in what areas in this bracket. [/blue]

i agree with jamminvk… i hit 70 before stepping foot in netherstorm or smv… if people who have never done the bc content go through these areas they will either have to skip a huge chunk of outland or end up doing half of northrend after theyve hit 80… seriously blizz the leveling speed for 60-70 is fine… especially since dks tear through mobs like nothing…

Dalixam, the problem is as I stated, if at level 80, and you wish to go back to these areas, how is one to find available quests unless there was some option to make them visible.  And please don’t tell me to look them up on Thott or some other site.  I missed out on a lot of vanilla WoW content because by the time you hit 58-60, you’re hanging in Outland.  With Wrath, one will hit 68-70, and feel compelled to move onto Northrend and miss out on BC content.  Unlike some, the whiners that complain leveling is too slow, I prefer the slow grind, being able to do quests in as many zones as possible without them being green or gray.

While I would like an option to display old/low quests—or *gasp* an actual filter for them—this is purely a playstyle issue. My shaman did almost all the quests in Outland before I made 70; my holy priest, for obvious reasons, did almost none of them and gained XP through instances.

This isn’t "news" anyway since it is precisely what they did when BC went live so who would have imagined the same thing happening again? Anyone who was around when BC came out and voiced the exact same arguments then. /shrug   It didn’t destroy the game then and it won’t destroy the game now.

What I *DO* regret, however, is that almost none of the really awesome instances will get used anymore. It’s already almost impossible to find groups for the old 50+ instances and I foresee MrT, the current heroics, Kara and up going out the same way. Why put up with pulling together a Kara run when you could be pulling down comparable blues in NR?

Blizz spends so much effort making this content and then just throws it all away with the next expansion. I really wish they’d find some way to make running the instances more viable instead of just having them bypassed.

After all, there’s nothing quite like getting into a PUG for, say, BF or SP and finding out that one or more of the characters has NEVER been in an instance before. >_<

Peace.

But Jamm here’s the deal - if you want to "fly" through Outland as most people will then this is good.  If you want to take your time and do every quest as you are noting then go for it and when you get to 80 you may have 3-4 zones of quests to do (at coin/quest) so either way you win.

Hoji - I agree with you about the TBC instances - but the thing is people barely do them now.  Most people barely do heroics as it stands, they go to KZ once a week and get 22 badges.  People will have been running those instances for close to 2 years and unless they have an alt coming up are probably sick to death of them.  So while it sucks to see the content "go to waste" as a lot of the pre-TBC endgame stuff did, it’s prbobably more the "nature of the beast".
