CDC reports that researchers at Stanford University claims males are more rewarded by video games, and more likely to become addicted.
In a brain-imaging study by Stanford’s school of medicine, researchers discovered that, when playing video games, the part of the brain that generates feelings of reward is more stimulated in men than in women. That helps explain why they’re more likely to get hooked, the study’s authors say.
They made a simple game where you gain territory, and tested it on 11 males and 11 females. The result was that the men got higher “reward” stimulation in their brains from the game. To be honest though, it seems like a very small amount of test subjects, and the nature of the game could be vastly more influential than the researcher might think.
Those 11 females might not have been your average women, and the same goes with the men. They really should have made the research on more subjects, and had at least 3-4 different games with different skill/interest orientation. Still, for once there is research made on the field of gaming that is even slightly interesting, despite its apparent lack of details in the matter.

11 males and 11 femals is a very very small test number, i wouldnt put any faith into this reaserch to be honest, Like you said they need to do a more wide range of tests on diffrent games and more people.
