Mod Focus - QuestHelper

We love a good mod here on worldofwar.net and the recently updated QuestHelper is a mod that completely overhauls the way you complete quests. Download this mod, and you need never worry about which order to do your quests in to be efficient with time, or having to keep opening your quest log to find out exactly which mobs you have to kill etc. Just glance at your mini map and it will point you in the right direction. Mouse over the arrow, and it will tell you what quest you’re heading for and what you have to kill, how long it will take you to get there and your progress with the quest so far. In short, it tells you exactly where to go and what to do to level the quickest.

This is handy for those of us who have leveled a few characters already and want to get to cap level as quickly as possible.

Here’s a snippet of the description from the developer ViperSniper:

  • Compiles a list of waypoints for the quests in your quest log, and sorts them so as to minimize the distance between them, and so that they happen in the correct order.

Minimap

    World Map

      Menus

        Priorities

        • Most objectives default to Normal. Objectives for timed quests default to High. User created objectives default to Highest.

        • QuestHelper will try to arrange the objectives so that higher priority objectives get done first. The only time this won’t happen is when an objective with a higher priority depends on an objective with a lower priority, in which case QuestHelper will pretend it had the higher priority. You will notice a green arrow in the priority menu when QuestHelper isn’t using the priority you assigned.

Download this mod here at WoWUI.

It’s really nice for those of us who have leveled multiple times and have done it "the hard way" before.  This just makes it a bit easier and faster to get those alts up there.

As far as taking the "work" out of the game, it’s up to the user to decide.  If they don’t want the game "ruined" for them, as so many are implying, then simply don’t install it.  Ranting about it isn’t gonna change anything, so save yourself the time typing it out and do something constructive.

Now, if people can take a moment to put aside their personal preferences on game play and actually look at the mod for what it is they’d have to admit that this is a great mod that someone put a lot of time and effort into it.  Kudos.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoy this mod. It has shot up very fast on the list of must-have mods. So much that my wife couldn’t bring herself to playing when it broke right after 2.4 went Live. I had to hack it back in working order until the UI-sites came back up.

Same here. I’m not a big fan of mods, but this has to be one of the coolest developments to the game since Burning Crusade was released.

i downloaded this mod when cleaning out my mod folder after 2.4.  i love this thing. it doesn’t really do all the work for me though.  i still read the quest description, since there are things that i will need to do when i actually get to where i need to get to.  but its a lot easier to find things now.  it doesn’t take away from my playing experience at all. for me, it actually enhances it since i wont wouldn’t have spent all day running around the wrong part of the map. but then i guess a lot of other people like that stuff.
