NBA Portland Trail Blazers Channing Frye Plays WoW

Posted 28th Jun 2009 04:20 AM by Medievaldragon

Channing Thomas Frye is an NBA professional playing currently for the Portland Trail Blazers. He used to be in the New York Knicks team back on 2006.  He was selected for the NBA All-Rookie First Team (2006).  Channing currently stays home to heal from a surgery performed on his ankle at the beginning of 2008-2009 season.  And guess what he is been spending time during his recovery?  World of Warcraft.

Channing plays a Fire spec lvl 80 Gnome Mage named Dookiedrawls (Proudmoore Server) and a Marksmanship spec lvl 80 Tauren Hunter named Eatmochkin (Zul’jin Server).  He plays with other NBA players who are hooked to World of Warcraft.

His computer rig?  Drool, peeples:

  • 30-inch Cinema Display
  • Mac Pro Tower
  • 8-core
  • 6 gigs or ram
  • 3 TB hard drive
  • 512 mb video card

He wasn’t very specific on his rig, but seriously ... a 512 mb video card for a 30-inch Cinema Display?  What a waste. An Nvidia 285GTX (295GTX) or ATI HD 4890 would suit him better.

He kinda forgot to setup his talent points on the Hunter though. =/
Needs to ditch the NBA players too—he is stuck at Obsidian Sanctuary and Naxx. No visible Ulduar achievements on any of both characters.

No ulduar? Could be because, I dunno, his career that pays him millions of dollars gets in the way of him having a full time raiding schedule.

Which would you choose?

It’s WoW.  That’s one of the things that make it the most popular.  You can play it just fine (with most of the setting probably almost maxed out) on a 512 v/card.  I have an almost 3 year old laptop with a 256 v/card and I can still get 20fps in Dalaran.  I get 30+ in Ulduar with all the important setting on high.  (no, I don’t need to see every blade of grass either - sure it’s nice, but you don’t “need” that to enjoy the game)

Oh come on guys, the amount of ram on a video card doesn’t always mean shit. Seriously.

Large ram can be good for buffering but there is a lot more to it than just “a 512mb card”.

If that’s all you judge your cards on then you’re being ripped off.
