We reported about CVG’s first WotLK feature the other day, where they looked in to some of the lore behind the next expansion. this time around, they are making a general preview of what is incoming. For anyone following this site’s news, there should be no surprises, but it is always interesting to read more about your favourite game (and its upcoming expansion).
What is really interesting is the fact that there are actually some new information in this preview as well! If you read it all, you will find that:
- We will possibly be able to enter The Emeral Dream.
“While originally we planned for characters to become Death Knights, we felt that players shouldn’t be required to lose the character they’ve played for so long,” explains Kaplan.
“Instead, we’re looking at how we can involve players in the story of freeing a Death Knight from the Lich King’s grasp through a quest chain. Once complete, this will allow a player to create new high-level Death Knight characters. ”
What’s more, with any luck, we’ll see more Hero classes some time after release, the hot Zitron tip being some kind of Archdruid quest directly connected to Malfurion Stormrage and the much-anticipated Emerald Dream.
The two first points are REALLY good news that was unheard of before, but the third point here is actually more important than it looks at first glance as well! The original plan was that the quest chain to unlock the Hero Class character involved your own character becoming a Death Knight (but still being able to keep the original character). Obviously the lore behind the Death Knight character has changed slightly since then, and much more fitting, you will free one from the Scourge! Probably also with the help of Tirion Fordring, the head of the New Order of the Silver Hand.

Kaplan didn’t say the Arch Druid thing himself so it could of been more speculation then anything from the magazine. The Emerald Dream was hinted to being a future expansion last year when Kaplan said they abandoned the original idea for greater larger plans and so its possible the magazine just speculated on the future on that.
