New Hero Classes, Emerald Dream and Death Knight Info!

Posted 6th Feb 2008 12:26 PM by Leord

We reported about CVG’s first WotLK feature the other day, where they looked in to some of the lore behind the next expansion. this time around, they are making a general preview of what is incoming. For anyone following this site’s news, there should be no surprises, but it is always interesting to read more about your favourite game (and its upcoming expansion).

What is really interesting is the fact that there are actually some new information in this preview as well! If you read it all, you will find that:

  • We will possibly be able to enter The Emeral Dream.

“While originally we planned for characters to become Death Knights, we felt that players shouldn’t be required to lose the character they’ve played for so long,” explains Kaplan.

“Instead, we’re looking at how we can involve players in the story of freeing a Death Knight from the Lich King’s grasp through a quest chain. Once complete, this will allow a player to create new high-level Death Knight characters

What’s more, with any luck, we’ll see more Hero classes some time after release, the hot Zitron tip being some kind of Archdruid quest directly connected to Malfurion Stormrage and the much-anticipated Emerald Dream.

The two first points are REALLY good news that was unheard of before, but the third point here is actually more important than it looks at first glance as well! The original plan was that the quest chain to unlock the Hero Class character involved your own character becoming a Death Knight (but still being able to keep the original character). Obviously the lore behind the Death Knight character has changed slightly since then, and much more fitting, you will free one from the Scourge! Probably also with the help of Tirion Fordring, the head of the New Order of the Silver Hand.

There is a lot of speculation, Blizzard’s people originally stated they weren’t planning on making more character slots available, but they were going to review every option they had, and come up with some solution. That solution hasn’t been revealed, if even figured out yet. For something like this, there is a certain amount of patience we need. I’m sure that Blizzard will let us know in due time, and I’d wager it would be *before* the expansion launches.

Me, I’m ready to move one of my characters to a different server if needs be.

Hmm… In my opinion a arch druid woul dbe way more fun than a death knight. I wonder when Bliz would make the patch after the release. (even though the release is forever away)

I’m a little concerned with what an Arch Druid would bring to the table. I mean…. everything that they did in WC3, the Druid class can do in WoW if memory serves (plus the Druid class has the features from the Druids of the Talon/Druids of the Claw more or less)

i seriously doubt something as huge as the emerald dream and a new class would come as a freaking patch… it would definantly be an expansion… and as ive thought for a long time it will probably be the next… where we go into the tree portals and aid the green dragons in fighting the emerald nightmare (which may be the title i dont know) but think about it… if the emerald dream is the way azeroth would be without mortal interference then that means that the old super continent of kalimdor would be there thusly it would have like three times the amount of land that the normal azeroth has now… thats like three expansions in one! the emerald dream may actually be split up into more than one expansion!... who knows… and if there is an arch druid will u make ur druid into one? i mean what would be the point of having seperate regular druids and arch druids… and also will there be archmages then? i mean everything those two classes had has pretty much been taken… just like blademasters with their warrior counterparts… past the death knight it will be very hard to come up with a truely unique hero class…
