New Wii Controller for WoW?

Posted 10th Jul 2008 05:17 PM by Maticus

Hot on the heels of the Falcon controller, which we wrote about a couple of days ago, comes the ‘Stix’. Made by GoLive2, this controller closely resembles the Nintendo Wiimote, and will allow players to control certain games on the PC as they would on a Wii. The outer casing, trigger button and shape is the same, but instead of buttons on the face, the controls are touch screen. And of course, there’s no console to plug in into, the Stix connects straight into your PC.

Two models of the Stix will be available at launch; the 200, which retails around $39.99 and is designed for 2D gaming, and the 400 which retails for $49.99 and supports 3D games, and will be the remote that players will be able to use with WoW. If you were to benefit fully from the experience, you could dual wield the Stix, allowing you to program up to 16 buttons on the 2 controllers.

If you like the look of these, then keep an eye on Amazon, Target and Costco, cos they’ll be available from next month!

lol, dual wielding

I assume a pretty sizable screen would be more than handy? Bit hard to aim at a 17" LCD. i do think that it will be harder to click the skill-icons though, but perhaps jumpshots and all those other fancy moves will get easier.

Just like the Falcon, and the Wii-controller, this is horrid from an ergonomic point of view. Try it yourself by trying to move your mouse mid-air during a raid. It’ll kill your joints. With a mouse and keyboard, you can comfortably rest your elbow and wrist (if you use good stuff and have a proper setup)
