Next Expansion Has Been Planned

Blizzard's Chief Operating Officer Paul Sams has stated that Blizzard have already decided on WoW's next expansion.

In an interview with PCRetail, Sams was asked if Blizzard have planned what's next for WoW. He told them that although Blizzard have no news to announce, it's pretty much been decided what they will be doing for the next expansion:

"Well, we don't have anything to share on that but the development team has a very long forward look, and they don't know all the specifics elements of the future, but the general framework is in the heads of the production staff, designers and team members. So they do know where it is going to go, but a lot of specifics they determine along the way". Sams continued "We have a lot of creative people on the team and they have no shortage of great ideas – it's a matter of figuring out the right ideas for each content update or expansion that fits the story that we're trying to tell. Every time I talk to that group the ideas just keep overflowing, so we feel there's a lot still to do."

It's great to know that Blizz are working on this already, but will there be another expansion after the next one? Sams seems to think so:

"..you can count on there being further expansions for World of Warcraft. There's a passionate group of players that play World of Warcraft and we're going to continue to support that group for as long as there are a meaningful number of people that want to play it.".

Look forward to finding out what new expansion is coming out. Personally, I hope it is South Seas.

I don’t think Blizzard will stop making expansions BEFORE we’re lvl 100. So, two more after WotLK, at least.

i have quite a good idea for another expansion:

Ever wondered where the Murlocs came from?
well, in the new expansion pack you will be able to find out in…..

World Of Warcraft: Rise Of The Murlocs.

Traditionally, every expansion has to have a new place to be introduced to the players and the setting of the expansion i have thought up of, is sited underneath the maelstrom in the middle of the Great Sea, and is basically, a massive underground empire from where the Murlocs came!

To get to the new area players will have to: take a boat; take to the skys in a balloon plane thingy; ride a flying mount or if they are really desperate, Swim!
After they get to the maelstrom, players will have to launch themselves into the maelstrom and watch as they get sucked down into the middle where they will be sucked into a underwater lake.

After this, players will have to swim to the shore and start doing quests.

This underwater empire will have two halfs; Half land and half underwater.
When players first enter, they will have to rise in reputation and rank within this underground city where the actual “Friendly” Murlocs live (Like the current Murloc we know are their Army, and these Murlocs are the public back home) and eventually players will gain the ability to breath underwater (if they cannot), or if they already can (from an item or their class), get powerful items or spells of their choice, with an underwater mount.

The Story:
These friendly Murlocs live in fear of their upper level masters (like our government who run us) who live in the underwater part of the empire, who come and kill these Friendly Murlocs because they’re week and pathetic (live us fearing that the government will raise taxes ect.).

Your Role: You have to take on the upper level Murlocs and save the Friendly Murlocs from their masters by killing the king of the Murlocs (with your guild or group, obviously).

So, there is my idea.
It’s still rough round the edges as there a lot of names and storys left out, but if Blizzard took it on they could do that.

I thought of this just as I was about to sleep, lol, so its quite rushed.
