Blizzard’s managing director Frédéric Menou officially opened the Worldwide Invitational, much to the excitement of the waiting crowds. He gave a short speech, which was followed with the introduction of the pro-gamers for Starcraft, Warcraft and WoW.
Mike Morhaime then took the stage, and thanked the attendees for coming to the event. After a look at the previous year’s Worldwide Invitational in Korea, Morhaime announced that they had a surprise for us. A guitarist appeared beside Morhaime and played a tune, which induced a roar from everyone assembled, then a cinematic trailer began and revealed the new game, Diablo 3.
After the cinematic, and once the applause and cries from the audience had died down, Daiblo 3’s lead designer Jay Wilson, came on stage to give a guided tour of the game.
