This week The Stormwind Archives returns with a new character profile, Rhonin, leader of the Kirin Tor and Dalaran. Well since he is head of the Kirin Tor and the Kirin Tor is the ruling body of Dalaran the two kind of go together. Anyways after the break you can read up on Rhonin’s history along with a little RP for fun. Note though that certain parts of Rhonin’s history aren't documented yet in Warcraft lore. Hope you enjoy it though!
(By the way some of this entry may be considered spoilers for Wrath. Just letting you know.)
Interview with a Archmage
A letter from Archivist Josephina to her grace, The Honored High Archivist Veda
Grandmaster of the Stormwind Archives
Most Honored High Archivist,
My lady, as requested I have spent several weeks in Dalaran working with Kirin Tor representatives to gain excess to their more exclusive libraries. I am very happy to report that I have been successful in that task. Lord Rhonin himself spoke with me and agreed to allow archivists into the inner libraries. I have assigned several of my people to begin research immediately. I hope to deliver reports to you on a daily basis from now on.
With the recent end of the Nexus War the people of Dalaran have been far more open to conversation and everyone seems so much more…alive, would be the right word I suppose and I do not mean that in any poor humor. Future reports I send to you will detail daily activities in Dalaran.
With everything calming down I was given another honor. Lord Rhonin agreed to an interview for the archive so we can update our current registry for him. The other message I sent you details the results of this interview. Further details will be forthcoming as I continue research of the libraries here and I do hope to interview Rhonin again soon.
In Light and Knowledge your servant,
Josephina
Born in the town of Andorhal Rhonin grew up like anyone else. Eventually he discovered a natural talent for the arcane arts. This natural talent drew the attention of a local Kirin Tor mage who eventually brought Rhonin to Dalaran for training. While Rhonin survived the fall of Lordaeron his family did not. He refused to offer details but they died when Andorhal fell to the Scourge advance.
Rhonin was involved in an incident, he refused to detail saying only his abuse of magic cost the rest of his party their lives. Before that incident he was considered one of Dalaran’s most promising young mages. It was some time later when an opportunity presented itself. I refer of course to the first incident at Grim Batol involving the Dragon Queen and the Dragonmaw Clan lead by the orc Nekros Skullcrusher.
Upon the request of the archmage Krasus, Rhonin was sent to scout the areas around Grim Batol on behalf of Dalaran. On his journey he met Vereesa Windrunner a newly appointed ranger of the High Elves who was to be his guide and guard during the journey. Rhonin joked at that part of the interview commenting he had no idea then how his relationship with Vereesa would end up. He noted they did not start off the journey as friends.
Also on his quest he met Falstad Wildhammer of the Aerie Peak. Together with aid from another small group of Dwarves already in Grim Batol the companions freed the Dragon Queen from orc hands and Deathwing’s Demon Soul was destroyed. It was during this event Rhonin first learned that Krasus was actually Korialstrasz, chief among Queen Alexstrasza’s mates.
As events at Grim Batol culminated Rhonin and his companions encountered Deathwing and defeated the remnants of the Dragonmaw Clan. Using a piece of Deathwing’s own scales Rhonin shattered the Demon Soul thus restoring the Dragon Aspects to their full power. In the end Deathwing fled Grim Batol utterly defeated.
Several years after this incident Rhonin and Vereesa were married. Shortly before Vereesa was to give birth Rhonin was approached by Krasus yet again to investigate what he called a temporal rift. Keeping his story short Rhonin told me of his journey through time with Krasus and an orc named Broxigar. Many of these details are known already to you from the letter sent from Archivist Gwin a short time ago. Rhonin did reveal some rather interesting facts from his time travel journey however.
The events involving the Well of Eternity occurred as they should have with one rather critical exception. Since time travel is involved he simply stated the facts as he saw them and refused to comment on the theories brought forth by others. He said only the bronze dragons know exactly how such things work. He mentioned meeting a young Illidan Stormrage and educating him in the ways of magic. If this is true the ramifications could be staggering considering events that occurred then, and now in Outland thousands of years later. When pressed Rhonin refused to comment further joking that I should ask Nozdormu, the Dragon Aspect of Time.
After the Sundering Rhonin and Krasus returned to the present, and Rhonin was in time to witness the birth of his twins. He discovered no time had passed since Krauss first found him. Rhonin and Vereesa celebrated the birth of twin half-elf boys Giramar and Galadin. ![]()
Between the birth of his children and his appointment as the leader of Dalaran Rhonin and Vereesa returned to Grim Batol once more. Unknown to them both Krasus and the blue dragon Kalecgos, a well known dragon from the documentation of the Sunwell incident, were also in Grim Batol investigating recent activity inside the mountain. In the end Rhonin summarized meeting the Draenei Priestess Iridi, communicating and allying with a small army of raptors from the wetlands nearby, and stopping Deathwing’s mate Sintharia, known also as Lady Sinestra, from creating a new breed of dragons in the mountains depths. I will have further details regarding this event soon. With Rhonin’s quick summary I must verify certain facts before reporting then to the archive.
After the second incident at Grim Batol Rhonin and Vereesa returned to aid in Dalaran;s reconstruction. Sometime later Rhonin was appointed head of the Kirin Tor, a position he holds to this day. Sadly the Nexus War followed shortly after and things are only slightly calming down for Rhonin at this time. The interview was cut short then as Rhonin was still very busy.

Great story, good work
