To Level or ..... 80 already

With WOTLK upon us for over two weeks where do you stand in the leveling race?

That is a question that rumbles through the community with many different answers. Logging on to WOTLK and opening my guild tab to see all the new 80’s makes me a little bit uneasy at times. Still stuck at 75 now I feel that I have fallen behind in the race.

The question of the “race” is something to think about also. Is it really a race? Well for some people it is. Get to 80 quickly, get into the new content, and get the new gear. For others they are immersing themselves in the game. Blizzard has done a great job with incorporating quest lines that bring you through the entire continent and story lines that read through the quests perfectly. Many people don’t want to miss this content. So some personal choices have come into play into the rate of attaining 80.

With the choices that people have made there are also a number of people who believe that this leveling is different than the leveling in BC. In talking with a number of people in guild and the community they feel that it has been much tougher to hit the level cap in WOTLK than in BC. Some people feel that it is more of a laboring chore to get to 80 than an enjoyable task. Where do you fit in here?

Another thing we need to ask ourselves and look at is the position of the guild. We all know that things have changed in guild mechanics since release of the original game. The time of having the large guild with enough players to sustain a 40 person raid has long been gone. Now with 10 person versions of all dungeons we see another change in mechanics to guilds so what is your guild doing to help you get to the almighty 80? Some of the hardcore guilds are taking their people and running dungeons. Officers have split up to lead groups of lower levels through a number of dungeons to get their guild ready for Naxx and up to 80. There are other guilds who have the attitude of “well it’s up to you and when you get there let us know.”

Well since we are well on our way to 80 and many people have already hit the cap think of some of these questions and where you fit in and how you feel about some of the issues.

I’m 79 atm and mostlikely going to ding tomorrow.
I will be the 5th in my guild to ding 80.

But i’m not rushing it, just enjoying the quests and taking my time to earn some achievements.
I have now completed Borean, Howling, Dragonblight and Grizzly Hills. Just started in Zul’Drak.

But after i turn 80, i can start with my other chars.

BTW Lacerta, cats can be demanding…have 3 here running around and if i don’t keep an eye on them, they destroy everything smile

Yeah I think a handful in my guild have hit 80 and I think most are in the 78 range. I am 75 and doing every quest in Tundra and Fjord and then plan on doing everything in Dragonblight. I like to run the instances more to see if anything I can upgrade to make the level a little easier. I have a 58 DK and 70 warlock that I tool around with when I am bored. I may start doing professions more again it helps to not get burnt out on quests

My cat is one of the most demanding cats ever, meowing even if I’m petting her, cause she’s a dummy.

Most people should be level 80 by now if they just stuck to one character, even if it was a DK.

I hit 80 last week sometime and I don’t have the chance to play constantly between gf, work and school.  My JC is 430ish and mining is capped.  I am in kind of a weird two guild situation so I was first to 80 but kinda third.  I have tried to complete every quest in a zone but also jump around a bit between helping guildies and trying to get certain rep.  I feel I am severly behind the curve on my server though.  So far I have run H UK and Nexus and tried AK but couldn’t finish it.  I hope to try it again this weekend if I can find a healer willing to die a few times.
