Win BlizzCon Tickets

Posted 2nd Sep 2008 01:17 AM by Maticus

If you’re one of the millions who tried but didn’t manage to get their hands on a BlizzCon ticket this year, here’s another couple of chances, albeit small ones.

Steelseries, Upper Deck, J!nx and Brady Games have put together a sweepstake that offers 2 tickets to BlizzCon as grand prize, $200 spending money, travel and accommodation included (conditions apply, see rules). The first, second and third prizes include goodies from the organisers, such as Upper Deck trading Card sets, Wrath of the Lich King Zboard, J!nx clothing and Steelseries gaming headsets.

Check out the rules (which are almost longer than Blizzard’s ToS) on the entry page here.

Secondly, blogger Pixelated Executioner secured himself an extra ticket, and he’s giving away the spare one in a fan fiction competition.

Here are the main rules:

1) Must be related to Wrath of the Lich King.

2) Must be at least 700 words (but please, dear god, no more than 2100 if you can help it). That’s 2 pages, typed, double-spaced, with a 12 point font, at minimum.

3) Use original characters; you may include World of Warcraft’s major players (Arthas, etc.), but don’t make them the focus of your story.

4) Use any genre you like: Comedy, Drama, Horror, Action, whatever muse inspires you.

5) A semblance of proper grammar and sentence structure would be nice. 13375p34k will get thrown in the trash (even though I would probably still be able to read it).

6) Keep it clean - profanity to a minimum. I’m not against profanity as a rule; anyone in my guild will tell you that I’m probably the most foul-mouthed person around. But this is a public venue, and the winning story WILL be posted here (and I don’t want to edit it all out).

7) Original work only, please. I do have access to plagiarism detection tools. wink

The winner of the competition wins the BlizzCon ticket only, Pixelated Executioner is keeping the goody bag. They must be able to make their own way there, be prepared to have a photo taken of them for the blog, and get used to being called Alex for the duration of the event. The contest is only open to US residents, to see the other rules, check the blog page.
