Wrath of the Lich King Launch: Razer Giveaway

Posted 10th Nov 2008 02:38 PM by Maticus

We have some awesome news guys: To celebrate the launch of WoW’s second expansion Wrath of the Lich King, we have teamed up with Razer, one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of gaming peripherals, to give you the chance to win some cracking prizes. The top three entries in our competition (details below) will qualify for these fantastic prizes:

  • 1st place prize: Razer Lachesis gaming mouse, Razer Destructor mousepad and Razer Piranha
  • 2nd place prize: Razer DeathAdder gaming mouse
  • 3rd place prize: Razer DeathAdder gaming mouse

Interested? Here’s what you have to do to enter the competition:

You’ve all seen the race crests, symbols for each of WoW’s races; see the Forsaken and Human ones below, the rest can be found in our Wallpaper gallery. To celebrate the expansion, and the introduction of the Death Knight, we want you to design a crest for this new class. As Death Knights are made up of every race in WoW, you could take aspects of each of the races’ crests, or perhaps you want to go with something completely new, it’s up to you! We’ll judge the winners and announce them on Monday 17th November. If you need some inspiration for the class first, you have a whole weekend to play a DK on the live realms before the entries have to be in.

    Rules:

    • One entry per person
    • Designs must be in by 11.59pm GMT on Sunday November 16th
    • Upload your entries here

I don’t think any of your contests are fair.I don’t have the money nor knowledge to use software to make things like this.Seem like every contest you hold it’s for select people. Why can’t you ever have a contest that a person can add their name to a list and you pick one?

You’re talking crap, that’s all. Designing contest means you have to be creative, that’s all, I think that Windows Paint is enough to show your creativity. Writing contests - just try, did you? Do you need ‘the money or knowledge to use software’ to write a few sentences? Naked gnome contest - was it for selected people only as well?

If you are a lazy person, nobody’s willing to give you any awards, and never will, live with that or change your attitude.

Indeed it seems like almost all of the competitions are some form of Image creation or design, like meant for only people with image editing software.  granted they do have a few in game ones which are nice.  There should be more diversity in the content that’s being judged.  I would love to see and audio contest, im sure others would love to see a video contest.  Just putting it out there smile

Actually, the competitions we run vary greatly. Last month we had a Fan Fiction contest to give away the new WoW books, we’re currently running a Screenshot comp to win an exclusive signed WoW poster, we regularly have level 1 races to give away in-game pets or other items, and we also have design comps, like this one.

It’s also worth mentioning that whichever method we chose, there are always people who complain! If we had an audio or video contest, that would probably rule out more people than one like this. As jwozniak pointed out, all you need is Paint if you want to design the image on your computer. We’re also accepting hand-drawn images, so speciality software isn’t necessary at all.

Having said that, we do like to vary our contests, and we won’t rule out running a competition in future that involves video and/or audio, we’ve done it before and it was a lot of fun smile

In this case, we feel that the quality of these prizes requires something a bit special.

Print screen doesn’t require any software.  Running through wow as a naked gnome with a ton of other people doesn’t require any software.

I think the contests are varied and encourage people to get involved.  This contest you only require a pencil and paper and access to a scanner. Any site can run a contest to submit a name and many people who don’t care if they win or not will enter because it is so simple.  A contest that requires some thought and effort will only attract people who really want the prize.

Even if you don’t have a full scanner and a digital camera it all works. I’m actually fully stoked about the contest. I really enjoy being creative and making things… so mix creativity and WoWLK… my blood is pumping. Hehehe :D

I also have some good news about future contests… Keep your eyes on the site over the next week, we’ll be announcing something else very cool for those of you who might not be design-inclined smile

Did anyone say you had to make it on a computer? You could just draw something then sacn it onto your computer then upload it.
