The new War3 beta patch....

I was thinking if there is enough interest and active players on the forums, we could start a WoW.net clan to beta this for Blizz. Post here if your interested and if you have the expansion or not.

I have TFT and all, but I'm not sure I have the time. Finals are in full swing and on that particular day, I will most likely be on the road back home for California.

Keep me in mind if you can't find enough people, but I may not be much help even if I can squeeze it into my schedule. I haven't played any team games of War III in a couple months thanks to school.

I'll volunteer, my only account is Barjak, USWEST. That is my only account ever, and I did fairly well considering I came into the game a year after it was released. I would log on again no prob if I had some peeps to play against when I know they aren't some person wtih a 600-50 record with a new account just to stomp some newbs.

I would be all for it, except the beta patch doesn't seem to be working at the moment. All the people I have seen/talked to can't seem to load up the game. You recieve a fatal error upon restarting. Sucks, buy I'm sure they'll get it fixed soon enough.
*Anyone else having this problem/have a fix for it?

I'm going to go buy TFT early next week and be ready to go fo the tourney. You can email me about it if you want me to join. Still play quite a lot. Got to get my daily dose of WC somewhere :lol:

Seriously, I am not the only one that seems to be having this problem. Blizzard must be aware of it right now. I'm not worried about not being able to play it, it is just a beta patch. However, if they are going to award some beta keys, maybe I should try a bit harder to get this thing to work.

*In any case, I'm sure they are working on a fix for this as we speak.

The patch is also working fine 4 me, did you do exactly as blizzard told? First join battle.net through Lordaeron, then change your gateway to Westfall and join battle.net. It will d/l and install the patch. But when WC3 restarts and you want to log onto battle.net, you first have to change your gateway again to westfall otherwise it will join battle.net through your old gateway and will first deinstall the patch.

2 Mobo: If I am correct it says somewhere in the rules that it doesn't matter where you live, as long as you own the english version of The Frozen Throne.

Let me just say what it is exactly that happend.

I generaly play on USEast, so I logged onto the USWest server, then logged back out. I then switched the gateway to the Westfall server, and downloaded the new patch. I clicked the restart button, and it sent me to the .txt file of the new changes. After reading them, I said "Start up the game again." This is when things get hairy. It will open the loading screen, and then give me a fatal error that looks like this.

Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 017F:021A2E76

The instruction at '0x021A2E76' referenced memory at '0xFFFFFFFF'.
The memory could not be 'read'.

Press OK to terminate the application.

I have reverted back to 1.14b since this, and can load-up and play the game just fine. Someone on battle.net has suggested playing the game in opengl mode. This doesn't fix my problem. The game is un-playable in that setting. (I have like, no RAM)

So, Yes. I have followed all of Blizzard's instructions to access the beta patch, it simply does not work on my (and others) machine. Hopefully, they will fix this so that I can get in there and compete for my chance at a World of Warcraft Beta key.
