Well, in my eyes, the eastern parts of europe have a long way to go, one doesn't bridge 70 years depression in a few years. Many people in the eastern parts of europe are poor,(hell they can't afford nice computers to play WoW) And with us western european countries abusing them (cheep labour) they will take even longer to catch up.
So yes Eastern europe (wether good or bad) is still the 2nd world(with europe/US/Australia/parts of Asia baing 1st world and Afrika 3rd world (thats what we called it in holland in the 80's)) and i feel sad for them, i have recently been in russia, poland, tsjechie romania, hungarn and the former yugoslavian republics and they have a long way to go, even if they are part of the EU.
But that is pollitics and this is a game, and the best part of games like this is that it makes us forget about the bad things happening in the real world around us. So wether you play games like me, or you stand up and enther politics and really try to make a difference.

One thing I've never understood about New England: Why do you guys get the Patriots? I understand that you're a bunch of small states, but I'm pretty sure that if there was a Western United States Hawks, they would win the Super Bowl too. Feel free to enlighten me if I'm just being an obnoxious Canadian, as we only have the Grey Cup, which I'm sure you see as insignificant (that is if you've even heard of it).

For the record not ALL of africa is 3rd world. I know quite a few South African's and though they may have just ended the aparthide not too long ago they're not so poor as one might think..
Um.. so if east europe is the 2nd world and america/west europe is the 1st.. and africa is the 3rd.. what's the middle east?
Though i suppose that varies from country to country..

Hi, Poland here.
I know many many people here that will play WoW, as soon as it's out.
Besides it's good playing with Scandinavians, Brits, Irish, Dutch ... as well as all other folks out there in Europe who understand that english is a good community building language. I played alot of onlines in europe, and everytime it comes down to ironing out people with things like "...it's international game, speak english" and that sort of crap  .
I think that WoW should be released in Europe same time as in NorthA and Korea, they can make an English server anywhere ... and I am positive that more then half of Europe would appreciate it very much, not having to wait for some translations that they would not ever use. There should be a choice, if I want a regional version I can wait, if I prefer english I should not get nerfed out of gameplay because some other people are waiting for translations. And with euro beta soon to start, I hope Blizz will come to similar conclusions.
Who knows ... to all those who want to join WoW as soon as possible :buddies: and another one for WoW's quick arrival :drink: C U out there

And tsjechie, not only good at soccer, but also mother land of Pils (thats what most people call beer) Pils originated from Pilsen in Tsjechie.
And about europe. We need language servers. English, French and german...indicating the language that should be spoken in general chat groups.
I would like to take it one step further, groups of people that refuse to speak the indicated language in general chat groups (general, area, trade...) should be banned by GM's, because things like this can ruin a game and make it a childish Yes/No arguements battlefield. (And yes, my Horizons game was ruined by this, and it made me not sign up after my month of free playing)

Most europeans on these boards are Scandianavian/english/dutch/Belgium..... the people from lands that are used to speak english in the internet. The other languages (French/german/spanish/italian) are large enough to build their own communities and are missing out on the best thing of internet (the international community feeling) Where eastern europeans don't have many people connected to the internet yet (mostly students).

I'll refrain from commenting on the guy's arse, but he is playing one heck of a tournament! And I don't think Sweden and Holland were evenly matched yesterday. Apart from the two perilous moments near van der Sar in the last minutes the Swedish weren't really able to put any pressure on the Dutch defense =).

Don't yer make a hussle over this, Spiritwalker was right, and since i am not a tough guy, i will try and do my best. And i for once can stand criticisme if brought right, like Spirit did, and not in an attacking flaming way so I can life with that.

Hahaha. Point taken. :)
I just mentioned it as there are alot of people pointing out flawed english in more disrespectful ways than you did.
Besides, it was more of joke than a knock on you.
Anywaaay, here you are discussing the EC. A few weeks ago I tried my best to get a thread going about the Euro 2004 Championship in the off topic forum. I got 1 reply. 1! Damn Americans. And where were you Europeans? Even after I explained how soccer is the most important thing in the world there was 1 reply. 1!
Granted, I would like to forget that thread as I predicted either Italy or Spain to go for the gold.
So now that my picks completely failed me and cost me mountains of money I will do a little bandwagon jumping and predict that the winner of the Czech Republic - Denmark match goes on to win the championship. And you can quote me on that. Its a sure thing.
And since you said you'll be my slave Joro, I now order you to agree with me.
Yes master!... your wish is my command!

We have immigration laws? Seriously though, it isn't that hard to get into Canada from the States. If it's obvious that you aren't going to just jump on our welfare system, you're pretty much good to go. Unless your trunk is full of shrink-wrapped 'flour'. Then you may have a problem.
The border between Canada and the States is sorta like one of those wire ties. You can get in easily enough, but getting back to the States is more difficult since 911 (obviously). Canada's a great place to live, and the winter's not as bad as hyped up to be. Just learn what a toque is, how awesome hockey is, and to like beer commercials, and you're set.

To obtain your citizenship is also rather easy as far as I understand. I do believe you just apply for it, then answer some questions about Canada and your intentions for coming. It shouldn't be any harder for your boyfriend really. We are quite accepting with people moving here if it looks like they are going to work.
What part of Canada are you considering if I may ask?

I actually live in Alberta myself, in Edmonton. Just 3 hours north of Calgary. If you obtained your engineering degree in the States, you'll have no problem finding a job anywhere. I'm actually a first-year engineering student at the University of Alberta right now (well, I actually start in two months), and 95% (actual last years stat) of engineering graduates get a job within a month in their chosen field. So yah, I wouldn't worry about that at all. Eastern Canada is really beautifal, especially some of the cities. But good luck understanding the people from Newfoundland. The 'Newfees' have developed their own type of English, and it is honestly almost impossible to decifer when you first hear it. Western Canada is beautifal, expecially the mountain ranges and British Columbia. Except Saskatchewan, nobody really like Saskatchewan (jk).
We Canadians do take great pride in our hospitality. And our beer. And our moose. And our loonie. And our twoonie. And our Tim Hortons. And our hockey. And our... well, you get the idea.

Yeah, if I ever want to settle anywhere outside of Norway, Canada would be one of my first choices along with Japan and Italy. Canada is probably the country most similar to Norway in terms of nature so I'd feel right at home.
Personally, I'd probably want to find a place in Toronto so I could go and see the Raptors alot.
Or maybe a nice quiet place by the Canadian rockies. I've never seen any place as beautiful as that. Wouldnt want to live in the middle of Calgary or anything but somewhere close to Banff and lake Louise.

I love the Rockies. Practically every weekend during the winter, me and my friends make a few hour drive from Edmonton to Banff or Jasper, and snowboard until Sunday morning. The Rockies are amazingly beautiful, all year round, especially if you take a tour onto a glacier. Recommend them HIGHLY for any touring to Canada. You won't regret it.

At the start of the quote, place in between these brackets: [ ] the following: QUOTE=name and then at the end of the quote place /QUOTE in the same [ ] type of brackets. So it would look like this, only spell QUOTE correctly:
Blah Blah Blah, Yadda Yadda Yadda
Or if you click the REPLY button next to the message you wish to quote, it should do it automattically. But you may have to toggle that in your user preferences, I'm not sure. Hope I helped.

Vancouver rocks. I love that place. I got some friends going to the University there, and if U of A didn't offer me more money, I'd have gone there. Whistler is awesome, but a bit more of a drive for me from Edmonton than just Banff or Jasper, so I settle with those. All of Edmonton jumped on the Flames bandwagon, which was hard since we've got the Oilers. Damn two teams in one province.
*Sidenote of useless and off topic information*
Did you know that this was the lowest American audience and the highest Canadian audience recorded for the Stanley Cup. All of Canada backed the Flames, but the States just didn't care.

No wait ... oh I see ... Portugal was the ones in red? Oh. Uhm, sorry. :)
Pauleta and C. Ronaldo did well and Figo finally got off his arse and showed what he can do.
While Robben was completely shut down. You could see how frustrated he was when he lost almost every duel and didnt get any freekicks when he conveniently fell down every time anyone got close to him. Only Davids and Overmars played well.
I dont understand why Advokaat took Overmars out of the game, he didnt look injured to me. Maybe because of the yellow card for arguing with the ref or something. Anyway, Advokaat have been doing that alot this championship, making strange substitutions that makes no sense.
And Patrick Kluivert didnt get a single minute on the pitch this tournament, whats that about?

Actually american's aren't near as big of hockey fans as the canadians, we just like to let them feel they're doing something cool by us. HAH! honestly i don't watch hockey, i don't play hockey, i don't talk hockey, but i have alot of respect for it ever since i watched a game stoned. That's when it hit me how tactically deep that game is and how amazingly artistic it can be once you get past the sweaty toothless guys slamming into each other at 20+ miles an hour.
Americans tend to talk football. And by that i mean American football. But it's not in season ATM, just wait till fall.
Personally my favorite sport is football, and by that i mean football football, not american football. It's just sad that here in america I don't get to watch any games on TV because i'd need some uber cable package with umpteen billion stations so i could watch the cable station around here that's tailored towards all the cro--ay--shun? (i know, i know, spelling) immigrants to be able to watch any soccer at all. I used to play back in the day, and i was teh r0x0r, but then i started smoking, so i couldn't do it without my heart exploding.
umm yeah..
So i hear bookies in britain are offering 25-1 odds that America will not make it back to the moon by 2015? could someone place a bet for me? cuz as sad as it is to say, i don't think america has the long term commitment for it.

Overmars had some nice moves, but he constantly failed to give a good final pass. The Portuguese just were better, although I hate to admit it. I think vd Sar played a good game, as did Bouma and Davids. Poor v Bronckhorst, being pwned by Figo all the time...
