It's interesting to read posts like this. I myself have been dating someone I met in Diablo2, and she lives miles and miles away from me... different country even. It's tough, LD and such... but whatever, love is love, and it hath no bounds, or something.

What interests me about this... how many times have I had to choose between a game and a social responcibility, whether it be a girlfriend, or a family occassion, or simply friends who want to go out. I mean, how many of you have ducked out of a christmas dinner, or didn't show up for the new years bash until 11:30, or only got off the computer to open presents and go out for dinner on your birthday?

I can honestly say I've never picked an offline game over a social event simply because I am a social creature, but online is a different story. Online -IS- a social event. I can't get over the fact that I'm meeting people from around the world every day, some of whom I call friends, and a few I even eventually meet in real life. I mean, I don't feel compeled to go home and see my parents every few months because a) I can talk to them on iChat whenever I want, and b) lugging around my gaming PC sucks, so I end up not.

How many of you constantly pick gaming, offline or online, over family occasions and family events? How many of you turn down a friend with some lame excuse to avoid heading out to the bar tonight?

And why? Do you do it because it's infinitely more fun, or is it more like a ... "but I'm almost level 39, and I've almost beat the level guard?"

Okay, okay I'll stop flaming the thread. :D That gag was getting a bit lame anyway. (Actually, it was kinda always lame). But that's what happens when a guy who thinks he funny (but clearly isn't) gets bored.

But back on topic. (for real this time, I promise). I do seem to have the inborn talent to instantly turn almost any female I meet into at least a part time gamer without much effort. Sadly though, that talent comes with the uncanny ability to get sucked directly into the 'friend zone' of any female I meet. I almost forgot about this thread cause of the OB madness,anyway i'll continue doing my part to keep it alive.

I constantly pick gaming over family and family events cause i really dislike that kind of activities,i only go to that kind of activities when i know there will be a lot of food that i like :drool:

Not so long ago, I became close friends with a girl (as I mentioned before, I was sucked directly into her freind zone from the moment I met her). She came around to my place alot, I let her crash in my bed, while I took the couch. In no time I had her hooked on PSOne games. Mostly Tony Hawk. Instant gamer girl.

In time she introduced me to some of her girlfriends. And once again, "freind zones all" the way! It wouldn't have bothered me much, we hung out a lot, had a lot of fun. But the fact that on an almost weekly basis I saw them going out with total a**holes, who'd use them and dump them, was kinda strange to me. They'd come around to my place to talk about their latest creepo ex, and as always I had a shoulder for them to cry on. I quite liked one of these girls, and we did get pretty close, even met some of her family at one point. They aparently quite liked me too. The real kicker though is the reason she never wanted to go out with me. She didn't want to ruin our friendship.

What the hell is with that?! "Oh I'll date a**hole after a**hole, let them use and abuse me over and over again. But I can't date my friend who would actually treat me with some respect! No way, we'll ruin our friendship!" *sigh*

I apologise for this rant, I'm tired grumpy, and have found myself thinking about this girl a lot lately. We kinda lost contact after I moved. I lose so many good friends that way. Anyway, just figured this never ending thread would give me a good place to vent these feelings. :yawn:

Hey this thread is nothing like the DIE guild, they have no honor and have nothing important to add to the wow community i will make it one of my guilds goals to eliminate all die members on site no matter the level before they can terrorize the helpless or unawares! Thanks for the offer,but i dont think i'll need to do something violent yet,im trying to be sutile about this,at least at this moment.Anyway i saw her today two times,the first time she was with a lot of her friends,i was starting to think she didn't see me cause i was in the other street,but when we passed by i could notice all of her friends watching me,and then starting to smile and stuff,later i saw her staring at me at the central square,i passed by her but she only keep staring and smiling without saying a word(maybe cause of her friends i dunno),she seemed to be nervous and that's really good and her friends talking about me it's interesting too,anyway i'll see what happens so i'll leave the stuff about making her break with her boyfriend as a Plan B,right now her friends could do the work for me.

Girl 3: Low personal hygiene, likes crappy pop music, terrible to talk with.
Guy 4: Wonderful to talk with, handsome, has potential to be persuaded over to the dark side (of gaming). Unfortunate I have a preference for girls.
Girl 5: Recently broke up with her boyfriend, needs help putting a computer together (she actually bought all the parts!) seeing her on the weekend.

Well,i've been with a lot of work for university this last days,but now im back to keep this alive.

Hello dear World of Warcraft community. I am posting here today with hope that you can help me with my current situation, but first I might start with little about me.

I am a student of the IT profession. I do not have a girlfriend.

You may think there’s an obvious correlation between these two facts. It was not always so. I had a very intelligent and beautiful girlfriend of more then a year until recently, due to mutual decision, we went our separate ways. The pain of break-up was eased by caring words from my friends such as “how could you let this happen you dope” and “you know you’ll probably never find another like her”

So as unbelievable as it may be, it is possible to both have a girlfriend and be a student of the IT profession. Not only is it possible, but I wish to repeat this feat. Alas my current situation does grieve me, as I do miss the company of one who I can adore and spend my love and affection on. Though consider how selfish would I be to become so close to someone, with the clear knowledge that open beta is just around the corner, and retail shortly after. The only option now left, is for me to find a princess who is both single and plans to be at least slightly involved in World of Warcraft.

It is to you, friendly readers of the community forum, to whom I present my sorry tale and plea.
