Does anyone here have experiences with messaging GMs?

I messaged a GM on my Europe account yesterday and still no reply. I'm wondering if the delay is because it's beta or is this indicative of the speed of service come final release. I've not played any other MMOs so maybe it's nothing out of the ordinary to wait so long.

The consensus on the Blizz forums is that they are pretty fast, however they are pretty moronic most of the time.

"You're stuck? You should uninstall Cosmos"

Stuff like that.

GM messaging for me has been quite a varied experience.

I have had a couple that helped me until I fixed whatever problem I was having (normally quest bugs), and they only took about 5-8 minutes to respond to my open ticket.

I have had one GM that never even attempted to solve my problem, he gave me basic advice, which I tried, and after it didn't work he simply said "Well, good luck with your problem, and thank you for testing World of Warcraft".
EDIT - After reading the post above mine, I felt that I should add what his advice was. "Uninstall Cosmos and restart your computer". I did not have Cosmos installed at the time.

As to the speed of getting responses, like i said sometimes I get responses within 5-8 minutes, but sometimes it takes much longer. I have had an open ticket on my rogue for a few days now concerning Tazan's satchel.

The time I message a GM to move my character from location A to B took 20 minutes.

I messaged a GM on the PvP server yesterday. It was a silly question, but I thought it might have been overlooked in the patch. I sent in a ticket, and within 10 minutes archanius sent me a tell.

I asked him what happened to the black riding wolf, the vendor that used to sell them no longer does. He looked into the question, in a few minutes he responded. "They are in the game, but I can not say where."

So it answered my question, but now I have another. (where?) So even still, I thought it was a good experience. Very quick and polite.

yeah whatever you do don't tell them you use cosmos. the n00bs blame it on it and its not the reason.

anyways, i got stuck in no-where land after doing the deadmines and /petitioned or whatever and logged onto another character. the GM msged me on my other char and said hey could you get on this char for me? and i was like sure. i logged on, i was still in no-where land. he said where were you last. and i was like deadmines w/my group. and he said i'll move you to SH is that ok? and i'm like sure! (didn't wanna' be back in DM alone) so he moved me and asked if there were any other questions i had. and i asked him some and he answered them. and then i asked if i could buy his head piece from him for 1 gold and he said if you had 100(which i didn't being lvl 18). so yeah he was cool not a pain in the rear or anything.

COSMOS is a gui editor for WoW. Lets you add more icon positions and whatnot.

Mmmm...I had a good experience with the GM that talked to me in the ST. He was very helpful and even e-mailed me after to further help with my problem. :)

I talked to one in the stress test, I told him a quest mob is broken. He came back after 5 minutes where he "looked into it," and he told me that he fixed it and that he just watched it kill someone (noobs). He then asks if I needed anything else. I said no thank you and thanks for being so helpfull. He said enjoy the beta.

My odyssey of the GM.

I've only done it once during stress test when I had to ask how to maneuver underwater. GM got back to me in about an hour and was very helpful and friendly. It was a pretty basic request though.

A couple of our guys got stuck underneath the floor in an instance last night though and it took at least a half hour for the GM to respond. Don't know how long it actually took though.

I didn't contact any, but a friend of mine during the ST did, and generally got an answer back pretty quick.

If there's a long petition up, when did you submit it? If it's during the off peak times of the game, perhaps there's not enough GMs to see it and they missed it later?

I had to page one once (was stuck in combat mode) and he answered like 3 min later. badically told us to log out log in but he was pretty nice and polite.

Well, GMs fixed my Tazan's satchel quest. Woot.
Now I have no complaints...

Mixed experiences it seems.

I don't use any third party progs and never have so that can't be the problem.

I checked my ticket earlier and it was still there, checked it just now and it was gone but my problem wasn't resolved and no communication from Blizzard so I filled out a 2nd ticket.

Mine was good! I got stuck somehow and paged a GM...in 10 or 15 minutes I was back playing!

I'll say this, I only have contacted GMs twice. Once when someone used a racial slur in the general chat of the barrens, and the other time for someone who had a pet (he was a 60 hunter) named AIDSbear. I just thought that was in bad taste.

Yes i'm a bit of a tattle tale but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I would completely agree with your actions. I have little tolerance for racial slurs, and you know that I am going to find the AIDS thing distasteful...

The few names that I would NOT report though include Gnomessuckwang, Gnomesaregay, Gnomesmasher, Gnomepunter, Givegnomessyphilus, etc. etc....

Well when I was in ST (which was probably quite different from closed beta) I had this problem in the Deadmines where I was getting ressurected then I got teleported into the sky. I sent a request to a GM and they responded in 4 minutes. I thought that was fairly quick.

What problem are you having?

I'm trying to hand in my completed guild charter to a guild master. Tried the onen in the Embassy in Orgrimmar and the one at Thunder Bluff but nothing happens when I click 'Submit charter' or whatever the 2nd option is.

By the way I was wondering if the GM were enforcing the naming policy on the EU servers?? because I saw some really non lore name : example GrosseBaffe, which in french means BigSlap and many other ones...

I think it depends on the "ease" of which they can deal with your issue.

When I say I'm stuck in "dead mode" and I cant res from my corpse, they never replied.

When say someone is using an inappropriate name, I get a message back in 30 seconds.

I reported a couple of people with LOTR names, got a message back saying it would be sorted out, but I have seen the same people playing with those names since.

hehe I met a gnome mage by the name Saruman the other day

So I pm`ed the GM. He answered in a polite manner the next day or so, and thanked me for the tip!

I think only names from well known copyrighted places (or immitations thereof) should be allowed in WoW. No original names whatsoever.

That way the d2 fools dont feel lonely. I mean we've already stolen their leet speak, we should leave them with some chance of actually being able to come up with a name. :p

Wow, denunciating other people for having a LotR name, and being proud of it. This is probably the most childish and immoderate behaviour Iīve heard of for a long, long time...

Sorry, but did you not notice that part of the Terms of Use is a Naming Policy?

Just helping Bliz create an environment that is copyright/trademark infringement free, and doesn't have undead warlocks named legolas spamming you to join their guild "teh alience kilerz". If people are going to choose totally uninspired names for their characters, they might at least try and portray the hero they duped the namesake of.

"the most childish and immoderate behaviour" Do you even play the beta? Is this the only thread you've read? I assure you that you can find a lot worse things than helping Bliz out by keeping their policies enforced.

Of course I am aware of the naming policy, and I do support it.
Still there is a difference between names like "xXxHax0rxXx" and "Legolas". People who use LotR-names might not be very creative, but at least they provide a fantasy name to a fantasy environment. And as long as they behave 'correctly' I donīt think itīs fair to report them to a GM. The example you gave is different - annoying/incorrect behaviour should of course be reported and dealt with.

Alright, I might have exaggerated a bit :)

It's kind of hit-or-miss with GM's right now. It's kind of funny, really. One GM will tell you one thing, and another will tell you something completely different. Hopefully, they'll get it all worked out.

Some things need tattling on. I do it myself with no remorse and encourage others to call people on such crap as well. Can't let people get away with that stuff for a moment.

I haven't played an MMO yet where people expected GM responses in less than a few days.

When you have a twenty thousand grade school kids sending requests to have someone banned for stealing their kills every day it slows down the process.

Heh. I would say to try the general forums, but anytime I have ever posted anything there it has either been ignored and lost forever, or flamed into oblivion (for no apparent reason). Perhaps the 5th or 6th ticket will be the charm ;) ?

I was suffering from the european loot bug the other day and no GM got back to me in the 3 hours of play. However the problem was fixed the next morning and I just chalked it up to beta testing blues. :thanks: The players that I have seen have been fairly rational and competent but maybe Im just lucky.
