Time of open beta

It more than likely will start tommorow, unless something unexpected comes up. My guestimate is 1 o'clock PDT - that's when they started the Final Stress Test last week.

It just wouldn't make sense to have it at midnight PST. That's just way too late across the US (keep in mind, that's 3:00 am EST). Unless they're planning the Open Beta around Australia, that wouldn't make much sense.

It would make good sense to me for them to have the open beta start in the middle of the night when everyone is sleeping. That way the naked raving fanatics can have theirs downloaded and out of the way when 'the rest of us' wake up. This would spread the required bandwidth out across more hours and cushion the blow as opposed to posting open beta starting at say 5:00 PM PST which would hit the whole US in peak time, and it would be middle o the day in australia. <--- That would be foolhardy from my perspective. Of course our questions will be answered within 24 hours.... or your money back.

well my Closed Beta account is now "frozen" and no one can post in the official forums right now. I can't really test to see if i can play the game since i am at work, but that would be a good sign to me that they are switching everything over to Open Beta.

From what i have seen though, the servers are swamped in the newbie areas. Lines of people waiting for quests. I am so glad i am on closed right now. going so suck at release.

I'd personally like to see them cater to the 'casual gamer' by holding off until after business hours for the beta signups. some of us have the website blocked by our corporate firewalls and still want to sign up.

I'd imagine signups would be during business hours simply to give the servers some vague chance of staying up. The wee hours of the morning would have been even better. If the signups go live in the evening, the servers will be swamped because the largest number of people will be able to check the site and try for their beta account. Pure madness, and something to be avoided if at all possible.

I think their going to postpone to as late as possible to make sure that not many EU people sign in for the OB. But maybe :idea: if we just stay up all night and don't sleep we make it and get ourselfs an account (we would have 2 refresh every 2 min or so) but it would be worth it, |o| :lol:

Yesterday afternoon I was playing (ST) at about 3pm PST when the server went down. When I tried to log back in I was directed to down load the patch, which I did. I tried to log back in but there were no servers available, so I went & took a 2 hour nap. I logged back on about 6 pm & there were 4 servers available, I got into the West Coast server & played till about 9 pm. The server only booted me out once & I was able to log right back in. I'm assuming I was in one of the OB servers??? Are they up & running today? I won't know till I get off work later tonight.

I just called home & interupted my 16year old emo daughter's blog to have her log me into the game server & everything is working fine. So it looks like I'll be good to go when I get home. Now that $8 I gave FP is looking like a good investment. 8)
