All that "europe" speaks about is how Blizzard have screwed them(even though they havent). People are really pissed about that Blizzard, instead of releasing FB they sent out a new wave with CB-keys. If they start the Korean Final beta i think people is going to loose the little faith they have left about Blizzard. If consumers dont have faith in a company their products wont sell... and Europe is a really big market... I dont think Blizzard want their consumers angry with them BUT the fact is that all actions they have done the last 2 months is starting to affect us customers. And not in a good way...

If I understand it right from this babelfish translated newspage ( http://*******.com/4alte ), the Korean open beta already started in November 25th, but sign-ups had to be closed for a while, and they are now reopened.

How can you lose trust if you do exactly what you told you would do ?
Blizzard has always stated that Korean release would be prior to EU release. Blizzard said they will start Final Beta IN december, not at the start of. There is nothing bad at all about this, and I'm from Europe and ever so eager to get this game. I wouldn't even want to play in an Open Beta again because losing a character is nasty.

Both you and me know that people, especially people who are waiting for the best game ever, dont work like that =)

Krebbe, you're talking sh*t. Anyone who leaves because of this is the sort of half-arsed whiner who I wouldn't miss anyway. The sort of person who goes PvP, gets ganked and then spams the boards with nerf 'whatever-class-killed-me', because they lost a fight. Or worse still, trains a l337 rouge [sic] and goes ganking themselves.
I like to think of this time as a loser-culling period. The more people who 'lose faith with Blizzard' and **** off, the better. And, frankly, I don't really think anyone will not be buying because of any of this. They might scream and shout, but Mummy will still get it for them, and daddy will still pay their monthly fee.

Anyone sho leaves because of this would be better gone if they are willing to leave over a beta starting somewhere else exactly when it was shedueled to. Oh, and I may be wrong, but I was sure Korea is one of the biggest MMORPG markets in the world, much bigger than the EU anyway.

I got a saying: All people are stupid until proven othervise... Most people waiting for the final beta are in fact stupid whiners. BUT the line has to be drawn somewhere... I love blizzard, always have, always will, BUT the lack of information is making me feel a little bit "Blizzard dont care about their customers". Dont know all your ages but the game i spent the most time with ever is Super mario cart, The original to SNES. Blizzard games is very near that game in the time i spent. So I would say I am a really big fan of their games, and now they are dissapointing me.

As i said, I love Blizzard, BUT im not so blind that i cant critizise what i think is wrong AND I think that the lack of information is very wrong indeed.

And i know it isnt just you and me vegeta. I read all the posts in both the official forums and here AND I sense a really big loss of faith overall. We who critizise are immiedly stomped on by different fanbois but i think you should be allowed to criticize if it is on a good level...

And i dont think anyone, fanboi or not who can say that Blizzard has provided us with enough information...

I'm no fanboy. I've not played WCIII or any of the Diablos. I only recently bought a PC at home to play Warhammer: Dawn of War. I used to play WCII and SC, years ago. I've never played an MMORPG, either.

Mostly, I play Xbox Live and a little gamecube. I used to play SNES, that was fun, especially Mario Kart. WoW caught my eye, because after TFLO (Xbox live MMO) was cancelled, I had a look around at the rest of the market, hoping there might be something nice around.

I don't feel like I've been cheated, hard done by, or that I'm a second hand customer. I have faith in Blizzard the same way I have faith in Rare. I also realise that the world often has different release dates. As a console player, I'm accustomed to having wait longer for games over here. Sometimes more than a year after the initial release elsewhere. It's not really a big deal. I have other things to do. When I'm not working, I fly my kite, drink with friends, watch some TV or play a bit of Halo 2/Donkey Konga (at the moment).

Also, like Rare, Blizzard seem to have a policy where they don't want to release until they're good and ready. I can only praise them for this. THey've said 'you can play some time in december' and that's good enough for me. What more do you really want? Are your lives really so void of anything else that you can't find something to do until it arrives, which will probably be in the next 10-15 days? If so, then there's really not much more I can say, but you do have my sympathy.

krebbe
10-12-2004, 09:19 AM
You say you dont feel chated, and I dont either. But there are many people out there who do feel cheated, and all negative critic can easily affect their sales...

krebbe
10-12-2004, 09:41 AM
Nope... think you misunderstand me(or i have done a lot of mistakes in my writings) =)
My goal is information, until i get the information I will whine and complain as mych as possible, with hopes that some of Blizzard staff see it and thinks "hmm, the community isnt happy with us, maybe we should do something about it. I know lets be a little more specific about the date, or at least give the community the information on what we are doing" and with "what we are doing" I mean something like: "Sorry guys, our translators/ server staff/ CM/ Other staff guys, did a screw up, we wont be able to release it until may 2008"

Of some reason, Blizzard hasnt updated the informaion regarding EU FB or EU retail in about 2 weeks. I feel that this is a little disturbing facts... I was raised too see the difference between right or wrong. Blizzard havent done anything wrong, BUT they are defenatly very rude when they dont even prove that the EU customers mean anything to them...

I'm perfectly happy with the Information given by Blizzard about the Final Beta launch.

In December.

That's great, now I'll wait patiently, with great eagerness, for it to start, it's only a matter of between 1 and 31 days.

With Christmas coming there's loads to be done in the mean time. WoW is not the center of my very existence. I have a life.

I come to these boards just to see if there's anything new and interesting, revelations from WoW players. All I see is every other thread is a whine about WoW Final Beta this, and Beta Keys that.

It's quite sad.

This will be my last posting on any thread that is just a whine, I suggest that everyone adopts the same attitude.
If it's a whine, ignore it, let them rant in thier own heads, like a pesky gnat in a box. Adding to the post merely inflames the whiners sense of righteousness, and no matter what arguments you counter with, they'll have a reply which will just be the same argument just in a different manner. They may even add a Feck or a Shoot here and there, to make it more colourful, but in the end, it's all baseless crap.

I'm happy to wait.

I can wait and wait and wait (atleast for a while;) ) because i know that the "thing" (wow) what im waiting for is gonna be worth it,but its just all this not knowing anything about anything (meaning FB starting date, how things are gonna work and stuff like that.I would be pleased to know some news concerning news about FB or anything concerning wow-EU section, not just copy paste news from US which i have seen 4 days before allready)STILL I CAN WAIT;) im just going mad in the mean time :xmad:

Or maybe news about when we are going to get the news...
Heh. Metanews, you mean?

They're not rude. Just because the vocal minority aren't satisfied, doesn't mean they should feel obliged to tell anyone what's happening.

They sold of out pre-orders in, what, 1 week? They've had to issue more pre order kits. The ONLY effective way to show a company that you're disillusioned with their product is to stop buying it. There's no evidence of more than a handful of people not buying because they feel cheated. They've sold out. Therefore, they're doing something right. I still don't get why the f*ck you think you're so special that you deserve the news, but you're not prepared to do anything about it except whine here, instead of doing something constructive. Email them, repeatedly, instead of your tedious posts about when it will arrive, and your constant moaning about how they're uncommunicative. In fact, why not spend the next 10 days trying to get signatures on a petition for people who want news about the release. Set up a little website on a free service (geocities, yahoo), where people can leave their names. When you've got 1000, email Blizzard with the address. By then, it'll be out, and you won't have bothered us any more. If you don't know how, let me know, I'll set it up for you, you can spread the word, as long as you shut up until you've got your 1000 signatures. Ok?

/Addendum
To see real evidence of not buying something hurting a company, see this. I'm not talking about no-one buying it. All it takes is a small percentage to seriously affect revenue. Someone's even trying to make money for charity by manipulating Coca Cola sales, for god's sake. Vetoing a product can have a real effect:

Earlier this month, Atlanta-based Coca-Cola, the world’s largest soft drinks company, lowered its long-term earnings and sales targets, saying it expected demand for its products to remain weak in North America, Germany and other key markets.

What Jean-Jacques Rousseau wrote, i couldn't have written better myself.

puuh-leeze!

You all know that the pre-order and final beta is a way to reduce the pressure of Europeans to migrate to the US. It is a classic marketing ploy. Get the customer to sink his money into a pre-commitment in order to keep him from going somewhere else.

Vivendi/Blizzard used our hopes for an early FB to catch more fish in the preorder net.

Stay vague, don't give out bad news even if you have them, let the rumors and hopes run wild. That way you catch more fish, but you're still covered because you didn't ACTIVELY lie. It's a old strategy, but an ugly one.

kr1.wow.battle.net is the realm list, you need the korean client though. Just go to http://www.worldofwarcraft.co.kr/ and click the fourth option to download it.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.co.kr/member/step1.jsp is the page to sign up on, I would advise asking a korean friend to do it (I just entered a korean WoW irc-channel and asked someone to do it for me there). Or you can try googling for a valid korean zip code and social security number yourself.

The Social Security Number (SSN) works so, that you have birthday (yymmdd), then gender (1=male, 2=female) and then a 6 digit number, which is probably the number of baby that person was that day. Trying to bruteforce this doesn't work, it only allows something like 1 try / 3 sec, and I'm not even sure I've got the guys name spelled right (have to use Korean letters)

Hehe, ask them yourself :)

I was misinformed about the realm server though, it is kr.logon.worldofwarcraft.com

And you can actually use the us open beta client, just run a small patch first, http://trulle.mine.nu/public/wow_us2kr.exe then it will work fine. Everything in game will be in English as well, including quests and speech.

However, I am already in euro closed beta, so this is not of much use to me, just wanted to check if it was possible :) It was, I fooled around some and met quite a few international players there as well (at this hour it was even more international players than koreans ^^), the ping was around 600, which works fairly well. Giving my account to a friend now, who is not in the closed eu beta :)

http://trulle.mine.nu/public/wow/ has a guide on how register (including social security number).

after i enter 복대 in the zip code thing, it gives me an unreadable message (im guessing something like 'incorrect blabla' but its in korean), are there any other things I can enter besides 복대 ?

I don't agree with you guys trying to sneak into their beta, but I have to say one thing - their site is way cooler than the US one...

US OB works fine with Korean OB. I use it and everything is in English, except Korean player names, but that only makes it easier for me to spot an english talking player ^_^

Hhehe! First time I tried, it took me hours, and I couldn't find a free KSSN. But when I came home from school, it took me less than 2 minutes to find a site with a few 1940-guys KSSN's.

I promised nmrah an account, maybe I'll give one more to a lucky person here... But you gotta convince me somehow... You make up what'll convince me to give YOU an account!

I have some problems getting this to work. I would love to have a fresh number to work with, so that I can prove to meself that it's me messing the whole thing up ;-)

EDIT: an already created account would be an even more wonderful treat, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high on this one... ;-)

A question remains: How long the Korean open beta will last?

I may not have a chance to play at all because of holiday will take me somewhere else rather than playing, if it's over before new year. So can anyone tell?
