The resent patch did not only bring nerfs, it brought Christmas to the world of Warcraft! (may be a spoiler if you want to find it out for yourself)

Here is a few pictures from Orgrimmar.

A special christmas shop with the snowballs everyone is throwing at each other. The egg nog is rumoured to have some odd kick.

Santa Clause himself! He even has a quest, unfortunately the alt in town is too low level to find out what it is!

It's snowing, and players are turning into snowmen :xsnow:

3 More festive piccies for you :)

Oh and the winter father quest is to make him 5 christmas cookies and an ice cold glass of milk :) The recipes all use components that can only be purchased from the festive goblin vendors... so I guess when the vendors go the supply of components disappears. I doubt they will remove the recipes from people who have learnt them, they will just have to wait until next christmas when the vendors will come back again!

Any word on when the US retail version will be getting the patch? I sorely want to experiance the holiday cheer for myself :)

EDIT: To the original poster, why did you bother to blur your name and experience?

The patch will be released in the US 2-3 days after it has been verified that it's working properly on the EU/Korean servers.

So where in the world is there going to be snow? All over? Or just the Valley of Strength?

Weird doesnt snow for me.

The lvl 35 winter quest gave me a schematic for a SnowMaster 9000, it makes snowballs :)

it also gives a device that can turn you into a snowman at the cost of a snowball.

oh and if you throw a snowball at a party member it has a knockdown effect along with that you can throw faster than otherwise.

It isnt snowing anywhere outside of the usual snowy zones, if you want to throw snowballs you have to buy them from a vendor (although there is rumours of a quest reward the gives an engineering schematic to make the snowmaster 9000 snowball making machine).

If you want to be a snowman, well you just have to figure that one out yourselves :)

The snow there is from a blizzard :)

what cooking levels are the gingerbread cookies and eggnog?

also, does the snow_____ 9000 have an engineering requirement to use it?

Okay here's a quick rundown about stuff from the alliance side.

In Stormwind there's 2 goblin vendors near enterance, they'll sell you some holiday stuff and give you a quest to go see greatfather winter in Ironforge.

As a side note there are now a couple NPC's and even 2 quests inside the Ironforge-Stormwind tram. Very fun, very funny.

In Ironforge there's lots of lag. There's also christmas trees, 2 more goblins selling stuff and greatfather winter right by the bank. If you talk to him you'll get a quest, he wants 5 cookies and some milk and you'll get a little present that has stuff like 4 bolts of linen, 10 mageroyal or some copper bars. To get these cookies you'll have to buy a recipe from the goblins by him and cook them or get them from another player/auction house. The cookie recipe needs only a skill of 1 and takes small eggs (get them from vultures in westfall or maybe owls in night elf lands) and some holiday spices which are also for sale on goblin along with eggnog recipe (cooking skill 35 or 50 iirc), mistletoe, 3 types of wrapping paper and snowballs which you can throw at people, some alchohol and candy canes.

The cool quest here you get from the goblins however, and I believe this is the same quest for Alliance and Horde. You'll get sent to Alterac and eventually have to fight a level 36 elite that spawns way too rarely and will be camped by several groups of horde and alliance players if my experince tonight is any indication. Lord help you if you're on a PvP server...

When you finish this you'll get a quest reward from greatfather winter and two quest rewards in the mail. In the mail you'll get a present with some holiday foods, and an item that uses a snowball to turn you into a snowman (as a bug, you cannot trade while in snowman form, just so you know) The kicker is that you get one random instruction type item. I've seen 5 of these and to the best of my memory they are...

Engineering - SnowMaster 9000 - Makes an item that will freez water into a snowball once a day.
Tailoring - A green holiday shirt.
Tailoring - I think saw level 40ish gloves that boost healing and cold damage from spells.
Enchanting - frost damage proc for a weapon.
Blacksmithing - Axe, 1 hand, level 33 around 20 DPS and +3 stam, think it had a frost damage proc too.

Haven't seen anything for the leatherworkers or alchemists, but I'd assume there's something for them...
Again this is all from memory so don't fillet me if I got anything wrong.

Also If you talk to a dwaf off to left of the bank in Ironforge you'll get a little quest about the true meaning of winter veil holidays.

there wasnt' much Horde around him just now, only a single rogue who i think attacked by accident thinking it was another yet. lots of alliance camping the area near the snowman, and he's somewhere completely else

How do we turn into snowmans?! :)

I killed the grinch and got my snowman suit spell, but no extra recipie.
A guildie pal gave me a frostspell booster potion recepie though, so I guess that's what the alchy gets.

As a quick update, all the winter recipes seem to be 190 skill required.

I also got the enchantment wrong, it's called winter's might and it enchants a weapon to grant up to five extra damage to frost spells.

And slybri, after killing the greench did you go back to IF, talk to the goblin and then talk to greatfather winter again?
