Nah the downloader uses bittorrent technology so most ppl will download over p2p saves blizzards bandwidth. I downloaded the client last week and have set the blizzard downloader to the same directory it confirmed that the files were correct, so i have the full d/load available to share :)

Yeah, I think you're right. That URL is public all around Europe now, and it would've been paged constantly if they chose that URL. Maybe... Anyway, I guess the global server and the login servers are the more technichal and time consuming bits - from what I've heard it seems quite straightforward to crank up a gameserver.

Well even so, 50mb ahead of the rest means you get levelling quicker :D

A lot of battlegrounds content is already in, i think in 2 of my previous posts in other threads I have linked to a recreated minimap style map of one of the battleground zones. A lot of textures will be re-used to snowy regions for the Alterac Valley one, I cant see a huge patch on the cards right now.

I'm guessing when you download to specify the same download area as you have the download already? And I'm not sure the torrent app I have let's me specify the upload level.

I live in europe but i have the american box of WoW. i filled the form on the worldofwarcraft.com website which converts my US wow cdkey into a european one. on the email i got from blizzard they've said that i will be able to play the final beta.

the question is this: can i use the client i got from the US box on the cds, or do i have no choice but to download the final beta client?

Well, a while back it was possible to play on euro servers with the US version if you changed what server the game connected to (dont ask me how). Im not sure if this is still possible. If not, youll probably have to download the game.

They are exactly the same version, cl0kst0pr. I just patched my open beta client to 1.2.1[4150]. Only difference I can see is that the us version is dated dec 20 and the euro dec 17.

They do not say that you can sign up for it as yet, only people with pre-order keys and closed beta testers are able to play the 1st phase. And more testers (presummingly) sign-ups will follow soon after.

good! and the system works perfectly. the problem is and i believe this
is a fact the ports you are using .. these ports have been continously
used by other sofware p2p clients like Imesh,kaazaa,... and so forth
this has come to IP providers attention and thus have set limits in
dl/ul speeds on theese ports because of network strain, and in worst
cases blocked them all together. What you should do is let the client be
more configurable so we dont have to use thees ports for dl/ul so we may
configure ports to go from the range 30000-49000 these ports are mostly
open at most ip-providers.

It's not a form. when you try to make an account for US WoW with your real address in Europe you'll be forwarded to a page where they give you the chance to change your US key in at least a FB key. I got the page a while ago, though i have no idea where it has gone, and with the EU page mostly shut down, it took the page with it.

I'm not sure what makes you cry Gurf since as far as I am aware, if you try to register the game with a US authentication code, it will only allow you to enter a US zip code and bank account which as I live in the UK, I don't now have. However, my theory is that if you can convert US to Europe keys, as megahertzzz's post says, then I can take my penpal up on an offer to get a copy of the game shipped over early, thus not having to worry about not being able to get a copy!

If you look at it from their point of view they know that it takes around 12 to 24 hours to download. If they open the server now they're getting the open beta testers and those of us who found the downloader when the new client was released last week. Chances are there will be at minimum 24 hours to ensure that the servers arent empty.

There is absoloutley no guarantee whatsoever that they are not giving us the download 7 days in advance. It's unlikely but to think that the servers are there just waiting for us now and the authorisation page is the problem is a stretch.

Authorisation page? Huh?? The authorisation server, the login server, that's what I'm talking about. It is the "gate" so to speak and by keeping them offline they can effectively stop outside logins while maintaining the realms for internal testing. It was these servers that caused the major problems in the US release.

I believe you guys forget we are talking about the Final BETA TEST here :DBelieve me, the servers will be more than full enough anyways... :rolleyes: Way enough to stress the servers and such. Delaying only makes the waiting queues bigger. (Or do they need to test those that much too? :D)

They haven't just taken the old servers down for a few days and put them back up. Theyve also added new servers, and will have had to upgrade the login server too.

To suggest that the servers are ready now might be true but we could also be a week from that point giving Blizzards previous scheduling.

What I am simply trying to say is that

a) the fact that they released a client they have had ready for 3 weeks now is no indication that the infrastruture is ready and
b) that I personally think that Blizzard would prefer it if people had at least a day to download it before opening the servers.

Im hoping they will say...well 12 hours is about enough time for the first lot of new joiners to get it.

There has been some progress... yesterday night wow didnt even try to connect to the servers, just "cannot connect" now when i try the same I got my game updates and "wrong password" message" SO they have done something with the servers over the night

A couple of weeks ago i downloaded the latest vesion of WOW 1.2.1 however I am not sure if it is the correct version for the UK servers(file name...)WoW-1.2.1-patch-enUS-Downloader. Anyone know if this version is ok for the UK FB?

Note i have not participated in the UK closed beta.

You will not be able to use the US 1.2.1 patch on the UK 1.1.2 client. You will have to get the enGB 1.1.2 - 1.2.0 patch now and then patch from 1.2.0 to 1.2.1 when you can login

I dont think you can use the US patch, however if you just go into the game and login with random username and password hte game will patch up automatically. Done it twice and im now up to speed with version 1.2.1 (As said above the patching servers are up).
