Heres what happens. I am working my pair of Troll Mages through some dungeony area. Then blam, I an add jumps in and kills one guy. Now Im feeling Im too far into this place to just walk one guy out or hang around by myself. Wouldnt it be cool if the remaining guy had a pair of Goblin Jumper Cables (or two in case one broke). Then I could just rez his buddy and continue on my merry way.
Well the Trolls are down the path of Tailor/Enchanter and Skinner/Leatherworker (or dust creator in the latter case) and I really cant see giving this up.
So now I started a couple Gnome Mages. Great racial abilities. Pretty easy going race, and not tied into an alliance with some evil undead. Not foolish enough to try enchanting, but foolish enough to try engineering. One is Engineering/Mining the other is Engineering/Skinning. I figure that what ever extra leather one guy makes he can sell to feed their horrendous need for metal.
Plus both guys could wear cool goggles (or Green Lenses, as a different character has done the engineering and collected a few pairs).
Anyone think this is just a waste of time? Or could it be worth it for the cables, goggles and pleasant disposition?
-EDIT Well reading up on people who use them, they really dont sound promising. The results someone posted was a 50% rate. Other people went 0 for 6. Now thats bad.
So if I continue with the little fellows, I think Ill just go the money route. Mining/Skinning and Herbalism/Alchemy (maybe Leather working).
