Just looking for opinions on the two... i'm a Paladin and have been considering the Goblin stuff... they seem to have better dmg items.... but wanted to hear what others have done and what they liked/didn't like and what they wish they had that they don't.

Some of the stuff I see that made me think this way....

Gnome
Gnomish Universal Remote - Hmm.. maybe be helpful in some areas... but largely not used I would imagine
Gnomish Cloaking Device - 10 seconds of invisibility every 60 minutes? Doesn't excite me
Gnomish Shrink Ray - Reduces their attack by 250... that sounds nice
Gnomish Goggles - Cloth on my head? Just for +9 to 3 stats? I don't think so
Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector - Hmm... this could be useful, BUT, as a paladin, we have seals to prevent runners... and stun too if needed... Nice item, but Paladins have other ways to do similiar... so it's not something totally new to us
Gnomish Harm Prevention Belt - Protects me for 500dmg over 10 minutes... Umm.. as a tank, that will last all of about 15 seconds or less... and it will severly decrease my armor... blah.. poopy belt
Gnomish Battle Chicken - I've heard these are good... this is definitely a plus to Gnomish engineering vs Goblin... won't argue that
Gnomish Mind Control Cap - Sounds interesting... but, realistically.... i'm in the middle of battle.. not standing back... I don't have time to be focusing on controlling one bad guy... but I guess could be nice for pulling reasons

Goblin
Goblin Jumper Cables - I'm a paladin... I can res... these are worthless to me
Goblin Land Mine - 450 fire dmg!!! Sweat!
Goblin Construction Hat - Absorbs lots of fire... but cloth... not too sexy to me
Goblin Sapper Charge - Wow... just destroy myself along with monsters... well, maybe OK in an emergency situation. Hopefully clear out an area a bit before I die... so when I go back it won't be too bad.
Goblin Mortar - 383-517 dmg and stun... that's what i'm talking about!
Goblin Mining Helmet - give more to mining skill... that could just come in handy when you come across that truesilver mine but don't have high enough mining (the 15 stamina is nice too)
Goblin Bomb Dispenser - works like exploding sheep... but more dmg... heck ya...
Goblin Dragon Gun - more dmg... weak for the lvl it is... but more dmg none the less
Goblin Rocket Helmet - knock an enemy silly for 30 seconds? Wow... could this be my version of a mage's sheep? Maybe...

Bah, too late... I choose Goblin.... Got my skill up to 210 today.... not shabby considering I dropped lvl 179 Blacksmithing yesterday. Eng is nice.... I don't need pearls or near as many gems... just lots of metal and stones

Sounds to me goblin is more for tanks and then the gnome is more for the caster classes.. althought I like the goggles, they look cooler than most helms anyways!!

Remember, that even if you choose one of the disciplines it doesn't stop you using other devices from the other discipline, you just can't make them.

If you take goblin engineering for example you can always buy gnomish engineering devices and use them, except obviously for the ones that bind on pickup.

Just a quick edit about Governor's remark that we have seals and stuns to stop things from running. Are you mad  ok maybe for mobs our seal of justice work, but all we have against opposing players is a very short stun. Anything that will stop that mage from blinking away, that rogue for sprinting, that shaman from ghost wolfing, that druid from entangling and changing to travel form is a huge blessing.

THANKS Slate!

I hadn't realized you could use a gnomish net'o-matic even if you choose goblinish engineering!!

Really good news for me. :)

No, i'm not mad... I play on a PvE server and could care less about dueling... the only reason I don't like runners is cause they go and tell their fellow monster buddies.... and then we get swarmed.... SoJ and our hammer takes care of that. PvP... bah, I don't care about it.
