View Full Version : Agil and Int for crits?
Ok, I understand that Agility is really important for us hunters as it improves our dodge in melee and improves our crit chance with our ranged attacks.
I did notice that the Intelligence tool-tip says that it increases the crit chance on spells.
I assume that our attacks, such as aimed shot and the like, are spells.
So should I be looking for AGil/Int buffed gear (I think it is the falcon range)?

Intelligence isnt as important as stamina in my opinion for hunters. Also, our shots arent spells, just skills. Intelligence does give us extra mana, but I would pick more hp over mana any day. I see you realize how important agility is to us and dont you ever forget it!! Agility does so many things (more dodge, ranged dmg, melee dmg, crits) that its a no-brainer.

Agility also adds armor, which is a BIG (HUGE) issue if you decide to forget about this. You wont be able to take many hits :P

53 Agility for 1% chance to crit for Hunters - you need a lot of it.
Regarding Stamina vs Intell.
My build (@lvl 60) is
Intellect 133 (64 + 69) Agility 289 (121 + 168) Stamina 170 (93 + 77) Strength 72 (57 + 15) Spirit 121 (69 + 52)
and I need more Intell - I suffer too much downtime in high lvl instance runs.
1 trap, 2 Serpent stings per mob, loads of Arcane, the occasional aimed shot, 2-4 Multi shots, the occasional Volley and the not so occasional feign death means I always have down time when running LBRS Stratholme or Scholomance in a 5 man party (mobs are in groups of 5-8, many of them elite).
Stamina can by buffed with PW:F (priest) and MotW (GotW) from a druid, and they stack. I regularly have 4.5K+ HP, and rarely need a healing.
Mana is much more of a problem.

I wish I could believe that our shots did crit of AGI the way they are supposed to... but I seriously doubt it.
OTOH I'd take AGI over INT any day. STA vs INT is a different matter... PvE, if I'm getting hit so bad that STA starts to be an issuse, I'm gonna die anyway. PvP I guess STA might be more important than INT. But again, by the time that extra hp comes into play, your chances of surviving are slim to none anyway.
Look at it this way: If you die too often with lots of mana left, then go for STA. If you frequently run out of mana and have to sit and drink, but never fall below 25% hp, then go for INT.
Thanks for all the comments, though I think most of you have missed the point of my question.
If I hover over the Int stat on my char info, it says that Int increases the chance of a crit with spell-based attack (perhaps I am dreaming this as I am at work atm), so really my question boils down to:-
are our special attacks, aimed shot, arcane shot, etc, 'spell-based' attacks and hence subject to an int-based crit check?
I appreciate that you might all be thinking 'why dont this bloke STFU' but at lvl44 armour and equipment is becoming increasingly expensive and I need to plan my purchases carefully.
Thanks all
