title says it all... just wondering, I don't think I saw anyone that was rank 14 yet. Is it that hard? Or do people just don't bother?
-thx
Basically you will never get there. Thats how hard it is. I have been hearing rediculous things like "I saw the 5th ranked person today on the realm and he was only Rank 12." If something like that is true, it leads me to believe that only the best person on the realm reaches rank 14, and although that may very well be you, there is some stiff competition out there.

If u ever reach rank 14, it means that u should seriously consider getting other hobbies. Getting rank 14 requires playing 24/7 about an year or so...in BG of course, which might get a bit boring after few months!

only one person can have rank 14. one guy on our server has rank 14 and has kept it for a while. I heard he plays 20 hours a day. if you want to do that, have fun.. LOL

And you need to be level 60. Its not possible for a 59 to have rank 14. For any rank above rank 4 you really want to be at level 60 as all of the top ranks are reserved for players who are 58+.
Basically if you are below 55 your HPs are severely eroded each week, lets say you really earned 10K HPs, if you are level 30 for example you will only get like 5K HPs.
If you are not level 55 or above your HPs will be severely punished each week.
You could do it smartly though, if you did 2x WSG when you logged on, did Strath or Scholo or something then did 2 more WSG and repeated this a couple of times its a fast way to power level your Rankings.
Remember diminishing returns applies to BG as well, so there is no point doing 10x WSG in a row unless you know that your opponents are different each time.
If you smart and maximise your returns its not too hard to get a decent rank.
From ranks 1-6 you can easily be getting 2 ranks a week, if you put in around 10 hours a week to PvP Battlegrounds.
From 7-10 its more like around 1 rank a week and you will have to put in a good 11 hours per week increasing that to 14 hours for rank 10. (with rank 10 taking a good 2 weeks to achieve)
After rank 10 its very hard, probably a good 40 hours for rank 11, 60 hours a week for rank 12 , 80 hours a week for rank 13 and probably a good 85+ hours for rank 14. From 10-14 Its probably a good 2-3 month program.
Naturally this varies server to server, but getting to rank 10 isnt unrealistic and can be achieved in 8 weeks if you make a determined goal to do it.
Remember WSG can be farmed alot quicker for HPs so its more beneficial to quest there.

Highest Rank on my server is a rogue named Taker, in the best PvP guild, had the game since beta probably, plays WSG like 2 times a day. And you have to be level 60, definetely. Also, you should know that there are NO pallies who have attained Rank 14 on ANY servers, last time I checked.

Well I'm wondering now or it's worth all the hard work to reach the highest ranks. That Epic quality armour and shield you get at lvl 12-13-14 Is it good?

It's good but I heard the new BWL items make it look like trash.

Well, both rank 12+ and BWL should take a considerable amount of effort.
I don’t see why a person devoting all his time to PvP, thereby having to pass on PvE content, shouldn’t get gear somewhat on par with the ‘uber’ drops.

If you're able to coordinate properly in Alterac valley, you can win in under 2 hours (sometimes as little as 1 hour 15 mins) and get ~11 000 honor points ;) (not to mention a ton of frostwolf reputation)
Blizzards FAQ says it's possible to gain 2 ranks a week up until about rank 6, then one rank per week until like rank 10, then 2-3 weeks per.
This is if you're hardcore PVPing
Rank 12 is the best I've actually seen so far ... that's Marshal for Alliance and General for Horde. But then again I'm not that PvP rank-centric... or am I?
I laugh to people who says it takes 1 year to get rank 14 and stuff like that.
Two guys I used played with on Burning Blade has almost 50 % of rank 13. And to those who say "only one guy can have rank 14", its not true lol..
And after u reached rank 14, why the hell do u want to PvP more since u will keep all the rewards/weapons/armors? What I want to say is that many many people will get rank 14.

Every server is different.
It depends on population, so its possible that there could only be 1x rank 14 on a low population server and there could be 5x rank 14 guys on a high population server.
Less say there is only allowed to be one on your server - it could well take you a year to get there if the person above you pvps a fraction more than you do, you would have to wait for him to slip up a few weeks.
Then on a high population server it might take you 3 months to get to rank 14 if there isnt much competition and you play more than everyone else.
so it does vary a fair bit.

Currently if you dont PvP then you loose your rank awards. So you have to maintain rank to keep using your unique PvP rewards. I believe its blizzards intention to phase this out and to allow PvP players to use these rank awards.

Well the max rank allows you to keep using what you bought, but if some new bit of kit comes long then you wont be able to buy it.

I thought they did away with that in 1.6?
This is what I've read in the patch notes, but maybe it's not working. I don't know as I'm still PvEing for all my uber gear:
Honor system reward items with a rank requirement will now require a lifetime "highest rank" of that rank, rather than requiring the character to currently have the required rank.

You are probably right, I must have it mixed up =)
Thats a good thing then, it takes some of the pressure off once you geto the top.

ohh yeah, I was checking them out. I never really checked out the stats before, but the stats on the weapons are amazing and I haven't seen any gear that is better (except maybe Sulfuras?). I guess they're the new upgraded stats.
is anyone even rank 14 on any of the servers? my friend was rank 13 and top ranked on his server for weeks and he still didn't get promoted. on my server, Randawl has been rank 13 for the longest time too and hasn't become rank 14 yet.

Well that's clear as anything isn't it? If I get to Grand Marshal and buy some epic stuff, then drop down to say, Knight. I will still be able to use the epic gear because my lifetime highest rank is Grand Marshal.

Do you have to maintain your rank to continue to wear the PVP reward equipment?

Um, no...
It is of course possible to reach rank 14, on my server the horde highest rank is currently a High Warlord shaman - he looks pretty wicked, as you can imagine.
Alliance high rank is Field Marshal, a paladin, as far as I know.

Ya, the guy on our server who made 14 is dropping his pvp time significantly. After all, there's no further reward. Time to move on to other stuff. I'm sure his competition appreciates that, hehe.

My friends guild master who's name is Formic, is one of the best pvp'ers on Darkspear, I've seen him take down a 60 warrior, mage, and a 58 rogue....all at the same time...like is that not uber or what? anyways YEAH FOR WHOOPASS FRIENDS!!!! :happy14:

It is in no way who is the best, it is who plays the most. Whoever pvps more will have a higher ranking most of the time.

It's who plays the most that manages to get into an AV organized fast winning group more often than everyone else on the server.
