Umm.. not a Win32 file? can't open install-file.

probably because it's a 0 byte file.

this is only true about the 'Get the Client' Link though.. if I restart wwndu I get the whole installfile.

Hi Wall,

Could you send your Data File and the QuestCache.WDB file to wwndata@worldofwar.net ? I'll check it out and see what's happening.

The QuestCache file can be found in the WDB folder within your WoW Install directory and the DataFile should be in the WTF/Account/<YourAccount>/SavedVariables/ folder within the WoW Install directory.

Thanks in advance,

Annunaki

Still having problems uploading, but now after getting 1.7.0.3 I actually get an error message instead of the email write dialogue.

I disable all addons except the WWN Exporter addon (to remove the possibility of addons conflicting with the data exporting), exit the game (and delete the WTF\Account\xxxx\SavedVariables\wownetexport.lua file) and start the game and log into the chars I want to upload. Then I exit game afterwards and hit Upload Now in the rightclick menu in the system tray.

I get a window popping up saying it is performing a character reset and then begins uploading. But the upload is interrupted with an error.

I get the following error message:
"error in msg parsing:
XML error parsing SOAP payload on line 570: unclosed token."

Subsequent "Upload now" reproduces that error every time, but the line number cycles between 4-5 different line numbers each time at random.

Yep, I'm having similar problems. Well, exact to be honest :)

Hi,

As mentioned before the SOAP or XML errors have nothing to do with the Client but more with the server. Those errors can occur during high load periods on the server, or a bad connection with the server. At the moment there is nothing I can do about it. I will be investigating it in detail though and maybe try to come up with an alternative.

I have the exact same errors sometimes. And when I do have them, it might require 5 triest before the file gets uploaded successfully.

Hi there Annunaki,

first of all i'd like to state that the work your doing is brilliant. This is exactly what i've suggested to blizzard the hour i first played WoW.
To be able to see your character data online is a very usefull feature, and also very sociable... i always show my friends what i got new... and stuff...
Love it !

there's only one strange thing going on. I downloaded the new version yesterday, but problem still persists. When i log onto the site, i get to see the newest data uploaded the night before... almost as accurate as possible.
When my friends log onto the site, they see older data. I wonder how this could happen. It cant be cashing... is it a loadbalancing problem, or something with batch processing ?

Is your own user data different from the ones published into the public viewable data?

Is there something i can do to make my data more accurate?

Also my friend uploaded 2 characters yesterday, and 1 is showing the newest data when she logs on, but the other doesnt. When i check her chars, i see both in old data...

All seems pretty strange to me...

It would really help me when u could make the updating and uploading a bit more clear to me...

Hope to hear from you... and keep up the good work !!

As mentioned before the SOAP or XML errors have nothing to do with the Client but more with the server.
Oops, my apologies. I wasn't sure if that was a new or old error, but it was the first time I got it. I tried now, off peak hours and it went smooth as grease. Thanks for the explanation.

That random error sounds really frustrating, makes me wonder if its a problem with the server SOAP parser, not handling heavy concurrency too well. Would an alternative be a "bare" upload from the client to the server and and then a processing queue on the server after upload? That way you can control the overload of SOAP and the only downside to the end user would be that updates would be a little delayed at peak times.

To TomyGuns,

Can you post the names of the characters in Question ? That way i can have a look at it. A while back there was a problem with some field not being set which caused older data to be displayed ( even if you had uploaded new data ) on your character sheet. It could be that those characters still need something on the DB side of the thing.

Also ( and not to sound rude or make someone feel dumb or something ), did the people in question upload their data recently ? Because I had someone email me his Character sheet wasn't updating and when I asked him when he did his last upload he answered he only did it once and thought it would get updated automatically as he played.

Anyway, if you can give me more details, I'll make sure to investigate this issue for you.

To Forn,

Yeah, I do think that the problem of the SOAP / XML stuff is something which isn't caused by our client, but probably by heavy load on the server itself. Rushter is investigating this and I hope he will be able to fix it.

As for your alternative Cybrey ( the previous Dev ) and myself have been thinking about that a while back. Cybrey mentioned that approach to me because we both encountered the SOAP / XML problems and we couldn't find anything wrong with the client. He mentioned uploading the file completely to the server ( compressed ) and allow the server to process the file when it has the time / CPU power to do it. It might be time to start thinking about it seriously though :-)

If we take that approach we will still use the current upload method for character info, so that the updates to your characters are reflected on the site immediately after the upload ( and not one day later ), but for Quests and Items the alternative is certainle something we keep in mind.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions though, I really appreciate our users giving their view on things and sending in feedback. especially since some of you guys have brilliant ideas ( just like the one you gave ).

Hi there Annunaki,

i have uploaded my data yesterday evening, and so did my friend.
My accountname on wwndata is TomyGuns, and her's is Vleermeisje
My 2 main characternames are Maghestriuss, Enhormuss(other 2 hardly played), and her's are Yuzuyu and Chameleonic.

When i check my data, i see Maghestriuss as lvl 53, with all accurate data.
When Vleermeisje checks she used to see me as lvl 50, until this afternoon, now she sees me as lvl 53.
When i check Enhormuss, i see my data as lvl 36, wich is also accurate
When Vleermeisje checks Enhormuss, she sees him as being lvl 24.
This is not the last updated data, because i update it every day.

When i check Yuzuyu, i see almost accurate data... the xp is not entirely correct.
When i check Chameleonic, i see him as lvl 20, but he is lvl 22.

We have tried different browsers, like msIE and Firefox. All show the same problems

I hope this info helps you to identify where this could go wrong.

we await your solution :)

Hi guys,

FYI I have been able to simulate the problem some poeple are having on my machine. It looks like you can upload your data once, but after that the upload won't work anymore. Solving the problem though will take me some time, so you will have to wait a bit for a new release of the client.

The only thing I can do right now is give you guys a temporary Work Around so you can start uploading your data again. To be able to upload your file, you will have to delete your wownetexport.lua file which is found within your WoWInstallDir in the WTF/Account/<YourAccountName>/SavedVariables folder. After that you can Run WoW, play around and upload your data. You will have to delete that file after each upload though, so WoW can regenerate the fle for you.

I know this is some additional work for you guys, but this is only temporary, and I am doing my best to prepare a new release which will fix the problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Annunaki

Hi, it's me again now with a different minor detail...

I happily play the game with and english (enGB) client on the server EU-ShadowSong and since release 1.7.3.0 of the WWNData Addon I've had no problems with it untill yesterday....

I check my account for 'First Seen By Me' ("wonder if I have found something new the last couple of days...") and I find this:

Magister-Krone (http://wwndata.worldofwar.net/item.php?id=16686)

huh? that is clearly a Magisters Crown but in a german disguise. How is that possible? Any ideas?

That's because I was stupid enough to test something I'm working on on the Live Server. I thought I had removed it, but apparently I didn't.

Other possibility is that something went wrong somewhere, but I think it was my mistake. Can you send in your SavedVariables\wownetexport.lua file to wwndata@worldofwar.net so I can have a look at it ?

Regards,

Annunaki

EDIT : The German Items have been removed.
