View Full Version : Fire/Ice mage. PvP effective?

Im currently at level 21 with my mage, which I have focused mainly on fire talents. For one, which one is more effective for PvP; fire or ice? Also, when should my real PvPing begin, because I used him at level 20, and basically got man-handled one-on-one by a level 21 warrior. Bleh, maybe I need to wait for about 30+? It might just be that I'm not exactly the best PvPer ever.

This is a big jump from my 42 undead rogue who can stun 'n run.

Just curious. Any tips or advice would be nice as well.

I'm specced frost/arcane at lvl 51....The insta-cast arcane works well in pvp when it is many on many, since you hit all nme's within a radius....

For one on one, you will be challenged, when taking on real players 1 to 2 lvls above you...

Go do BG, and keep friends around...You'll be fine. And keep in mind that 20 is the low end of the range, as is 30, 40, etc. But, when you get to 29, 39, 49, etc., you'll be making em think twice about you...

Warriors are a funny animal for Mages. We should be able to win 99.9% of the time (regardless of their gear) if we dont make a mistake. All it takes is one mistake on our part to get owned by them.

In terms of PVP, the 3 most popular builds are:

- 31 Arcane/20 Fire
- 33 Frost/18 Arcane
- Other Frost/Arcane combinations

All are viable, although I'l note that the top 5 PVP ranked mages on both servers I play on are Frost/Arc.

Arc/Fire allows you to completely own enemy #1. Frost/Arc allows you to beat enemy #1, and have a much better shot at beating a second or third.
