Version 1.8.1.0 Bug Fixes + Introducing Professions and Recipe + Introducing our German Partners GetWoW.de
Professions and Recipe Phase 1
We have started development to add Profession and Recipe related information to our Database. Phase 1 of this process consists of collecting and Uploading basic Profession and Recipe information. The current version of the client will already collect all information for the different recipes you can craft. This includes basic Recipe Information ( Name, Skill Level, Texture, Description, ... ) and Reagent / Result information. The purpose of Phase 1 is to collect and upload all the basic data we need so we can offer you Recipe related information on our database. The LUA Mod and the Client are ready for that and the information will currently be collected and uploaded. The WebSite side of things still needs to be developed, so we will have to wait a bit longer before the related pages start to appear on the site.
Once we know everything is working the way we expect it, we will be starting the second Phase of this process which will add information regarding how the Recipe can be learned ( eg From a Trainer, if so which Trainers or from a Recipe Scroll Item ).
But there is one more thing ...
Well, the time has come to give you guys some Top Secret Information. The WWNData community might have had the impression that the only thing they were seeing were changes to the client. Well this is true, but ...
Starting with version 1.8.0.1. we remodelled the whole parsing and LUA mod as you might already know by now. This process took us a while, but we had to do it. Not only did our client suffer from some SOAP / XML errors which appeared in some strange cases, but also our LUA mod + Client only supported the English client of World of Warcraft. Well, since Version 1.8.0.1 our project was living a secret life :-)
I see everyone thinking now, and wondering what I am talking about. Well we have partnered up with a German World of Warcraft related site ( www.worldofwar.de ) and made the necessary changes to our LUA / Client and Upload Process so that our stuff could also be used for a German WoW DB Site. In the mean time our German friends have set up their site and the beta has started. The data on their site is collected / uploaded using the same LUA Mod and Client application as the data on the WWNData site. The only difference is, that they upload their data to another server, and that they only collect data generated by the German client of the game ( or using the German Language Pack ).
Does this change anything for the WWNData community ? Well, no ... or maybe Yes :-) For those playing with the English Client ( or a client in another language but with the English Language Pack ) nothing will change, except maybe for the fact that Client and LUA side Bugs will be detected faster. For those playing with the German Client ( or a client in another language but with the German Language Pack ), they will have to upload their information to one of the GetWoW DB Servers. They should also visit the www.getwow.de home page and check how they can obtain a login for GetWoW ( they require you to register to the forum and they use the forum account information ). Our German friends and community can also have a look at the support forum ( http://wowforum.gamona.de/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=392 ).
Client Changes
Fixed a bug where in some cases the rarity of an item was not being uploaded.
Fixed a bug where the wrong item color was being uploaded for some items, causing them to be displayed as White items on the WebSite.
The Client will no longer purge the DataFiles if a Parser Error Occured or the Upload Failed
The Client now also has an Options screen in which some configuration can be done. Currently you can only set your WoW Installation Directory in there, but more client configurations will be added in the future. You can open the Options screen by right clicking on the Tray Icon of the client and picking options from the Popup Menu.
During Startup the client will check if you have a WoW Installation Directory set up, if you don't the Options screen will be opened so you can fix that problem.
Altered the Login Screen a bit, so that it is clear the user should enter his / her WWNData or GetWoW Account Information and that we will NEVER EVER ask them for their WoW Account Information.
Fixed a bug where you had to terminiate the application once you received an error message of some kind. Apparently the client would not allow you to upload any information anymore when your previous upload failed to parse for some reason. The only thing the user could do was terminate the client application and Restart it again. This problem should now be fixed.
The Client will now also upload basic Recipe information ( Recipe, Result, Reagents )
LUA Changes
Well, the LUA Mod now handles the German WoW Client as well ( been like that since 1.8.0.1 )
The LUA Mod will now also log all basic Recipe information ( Recipe, Result, Reagents )
Server Changes
Some fixes were done to correct the errors on a Characters Talent Page ( WWNData )
