Hi all,
well, this is my story: I was in Aszhara to grind up my few last dots from 47 to 48. Standard priest lvling build, 31 shadow/rest in disc. I had a bit of a mishap so i decided to angel rez at Aszhara beach. I rez, throw on Fortidude, IF and shadowform, and look forward to chat away 10 mins rezsickness with my guildmates while enjoying the coastal view.

1 min later I get sapped and a lvl ?? nelf rogue emerges from stealth. Hookay, time for a death again I think, but when I'm down to 50% health i manage to get off a fear and throw a shield on. I wait..shield wears off, but no sign of the rogue. Hmm, i heal up, throw on new IF and shadowform...and a minute later the whole thing repeats, half health, fear, and the thief disappears.

Now I get a bit irritated and decide to not take it, so when the thing repeats a third time I get off my two dots and a couple of minutes of fearkiting and flaying proceeds. When I get the ?? rogue down to 37% he thinks better off it and flees...all while I have rez sickness

I should hardly have been able to scratch him while rezsick, right? Admittedly I did kite him from the seabed and made good use of the UD:s ability to hold breath, and also gulped two mana pots, but still?

And a lvl?? rogue with moderate playing abilities should be able to spank my priestly butt, rezsickness or not?

So, major bug, or are shadowpriests totally imba...or did I ran into the worst rogue on any server?

Well...fear is pretty crazy, makes you run so far away, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it...plus you can get hurt while being feared. And I have no idea what rez sickness does to spell attacks.

However, unless you had about 3K life with rez sickness, I think the rogue should've destroyed you...really easily. The day I can't kill a lvl 48 priest with rez sickness WITH getting the jump on them while they're STANDING STILL is the day I get a new game to play, lol. Maybe he was making his own world of roguecraft video, except with a night elf. Was he naked and using a lvl 1 dagger? If so, I almost forgive him. Almost.

Lucky you, and gratz for fighting him off :)

Edit: Just thought of the possibility that he had rez sickness too, lol.

I suspect that he didn't actually want to kill you, so no giant killing hat yet.. :)

Given the level differential, a couple of crits would have killed you, most likely. I suspect he was just toying with you; he was probably bored too.

I guess it was not to kill you, just to screw around a bit. Much like druids in cat form use to do with rat critters  .

Yeah, that was pretty weak on the rogues part. Even though a shadow priest can be a tough nail, he should have been able to kill you fairly easy. Maybe he just wanted to toy with you a little bit.

But sometimes I think rogues are a little to dependent on controlling the fight, or atleast just used to it, and maybe some of them are prone to panic when they no longer feel they are in control. Here is a similar story:

I was in Winterspring mining (Im a warrior), when I accidently fell down into the yeti area east of Everlook. I didnt take too much damage in the fall, so I wasnt realy concerned until I saw 3 horde players on a small hill about 40-50 meters infront of me. Two of them passed on to the other side of the hill (that is, out of sight from me), but the rogue stoped and looked at me. I wasnt sure what to do. If I charged him, his friends would no doubt help him, so I waited for his move, hoping he would leave. But when he stealthed I knew what he was planing. So I waited a few seconds, and the used bloodrage and demor. shout (which breaks stealth). And sure enough, there he was, less then 3 meters behind me. And just as his stealth broke, he ran of , back on top of the hill, and returned to watching me. Not wanting to push my luck, I mounted and headed for Everlook and got away.

Now, this particular rogues evidently didnt want to fight me unless he had the advantage, and he could control the fight. Maybe its the same with your rogue MammaMu, once he knew he had lost crontol he didnt want to take any chances, and thus ran.

I'd really doubt that, if he was high enough to be lv ??. Control simply isn't needed, it'd be like killing woodland bunnies.

He could have filleted him just using white damage, let alone combos.

I was inBooty Bay yesterday (on a PvE Server) when I strayed too near the alliance FP - smack, bash and one dead Lock....also flagged for PvP - eeek!

So while I was merrily making my way to where I thought the actual Horde FP was, I noticed I was being eyed up by a lvl 44 Alliance something or other (me being lvl 36)....*clout* RUUNN!!!! - oh, he's gone....ohhh - 4 Booty Bay Bruisers giving him a sound beating - *stand and claps* - *Cheer for the forsaken!*

Yay another honorable kill!!

I did giggle.... :happy65:

Interesting *makes mental note*. When the bruisers join a fight vs mobs, it seems to make the mobs unlootable on death, it's worth knowing that you can still get an HK vs another player though, sneaky :)

Hehe,
yeah, I guess I was just being toyed with, or maybe the dual rezsickness theory is true.

I'm still curious though as he persisted so long in the seemingly fruitless attacks from his parts, but hey what do I know, rogues sneeks in mysterious ways and I'm just a happy facemelter

..their gankage to perform.. :)

Aye, they probably get bored too, if he just tried to Leroy some quest mobs and got his ass handed to him, he probably needed to OMFGpwn someone a lot lower than him so he could feel special again.

My poor little hunter (who dinged 38 yesterday, woohoo) was being followed around STV by a ?? troll rogue making chicken noises yesterday. Luckily, it's a PvE server, and I am very careful about PvP tagging, so I suspect that the only one really frustrated by this situation was him. After a lot of spamming of what I can only presume to be his "/chicken %t" button, he crawled back under his bridge to wait for goats, or whatever else such kids do.

I'll give you 2.

1 is a botched attempt vs. me, one is a botched attempt BY me..

I was hunting Woodpaws in Faralas and was flagged from a previous skirmish outside of Xroads before I caught a flight to Camp M. Level 45 shadow priest just fast grinding to 46. Woodpaws are nice and easy at 40-42 cause you burn them in about 10-15 secs and make all your mana back via spirit tap and only take a hit once in a while. Sure it's below good exp for a single kill, but still brings in 19-20k exp an hour and decent coin/cloths.

All that aside I see a level 41 night elf warrior. He's running past as I'm mindflaying the final tick of life off the add I just picked up during this fight. I was about 2/3rds mana and spirit tap was regenning it fast so I decided to rebuff. My mana dropped to about 1/3rd. This is the only time I typically drink. I looked around and didn't see the NE so I started to drink. Not 2 seconds into drinking I heard the Charge noise. The warrior was upon me.

Not sure what his spec was, but he didn't have an immunity. After 2-3 seconds - Feared him, SW:P, Vamp Embrace, Devouring Plague then he broke fear and ran back, PW:S, Mindblast, Big Iron Bomb, back off and Mind Flay and the final Mindblast (which after all the shadow weaving had stacked crit for 700 and some change).

My mana was spent but my life was full even with him whacking on me because VE and DP are huge lifesavers. I ate his corpse for fun.

My biggest botched gank attempt was in my early 30's (33 i think.).
My brother was over so I thought I'd show him how kick butt a pvpr I was and all that crap. I ran around TM area until I found a 28 dwarf warrior west of Southshore and proceeded to melt the face. Same tactics minus a few lifesavers and wasn't in Shadowform cause I didn't have it yet. As the warrior got down to about 1/3rd life left and I was already talking smack on my end of the keyboard I feared the warrior again (you know one of those fears where they run through you?) and I spun around to keep him in front of me and behind me was 2 of his guildees (well 3 if you count the hunter's pet..) who were just watching me. The hunter went /no.
I barely had time to say a profane word before they attacked. My brother sat there laughing as I was cut down by a rain of arrows, several bites and claw punctures and a final burst of magefire. Of course the warrior came back and /spit on me to secure his reputation. Ahh well.

Be sure to consider where you are when you are ganking someone. I was in the WPL, trying to kill some Scarlet Crusaders, when I came upon an UD rogue killing a gnome mage. I quickly shielded and healed the mage; and the rogue came after me, with murder in his rotting eyes. I feared him, shielded myself, and we proceeded to kill him while he was running around trying to get back at me. Needless to say, he didn't come back to bother us again.

When I was around 35-40, I was in Darkshire and a level ?? rogue started playing the sap and leave me unable to do anything while not becoming visible trick.

This was in the middle of the town, and after 2-3 times of being sapped by the invisible rogue I cast fear, of course being insta cast AoE he got feared right into the guards and I proceeded to Mind Flay him while the guards killed him :D

I did have a good laugh :D

I always hate when a rogue uses distract on you for no reason. 1/2 the time they don't even plan on ganking you, they just like screwing with people. *shrug*

I once Fear'ed a rogue straight into the path of Scarlet Courier and his escort. Not a pretty sight.
