As a first RP I'l be setting this in the world of warcraft. However the world is somewhat more open, and maps are towns are larger than the fairly small ones in game.
Firstly, there are no "quests" persay. That is not to say that you character can not have a background or items from a quest, however write it in as actual events rather than a questlog.
Secondly, there are no alignments or specific types of character. Characters may therefor act in accordance with their own interests or those of others. You character could perhaps start off as a friendly, protective Paladin, but could fall and become an evil and vindictive murderer.
Thirdly, characters have more freedom than ingame. They are not restricted by class and type, rather their class is a general recognised standard but abilties or even their class can change during the course of the RP or in your background. For example your character may originally have been drafted as a Warrior in Stormwind, only later to find himself more interested in the magical arts. He'd still have some of the old skills he learnt as a warrior, but would now concentrate more on magic.
Fourthly, although the option to play some of the non-player races is open, bear in mind a number of things. If your a creature which is largely seen to be hostile, you can NOT ENTER TOWNS. Guards would attack you on sight, people too. Although adventurers may befriend you if you seem benevolent, the option to enter a civilised area would be closed to you. I suggest simply picking one of the main races for ease of use, unless you are a particularly good writer. Similarly overpowered or "God" characters are strictly off limits. All characters will be of average ability and strength, perhaps excelling at a certain thing. Like in real life, its rare to impossible to find someone thats good at everything.
Fithly to keep good writing standards, and for ease of reading what events are occuring, always post three or more paragraphs every time. If a post is pure conversation it is difficult to know exactly what is transpiring, what your character thinks, whats going on around them, how others appear to your character and so on and so forth. Without details, without adding personal touches to everything you see, smell, hear, touch and taste its difficult to build up a picture of where you are and whats going on. Three paragraphs minimum.
Lastly you are welcome to join this RP at anytime during the course of it. As Your Average Wow Player (YAWP for short) suggested in the other thread I'l put up a "story so far" thread, should the RP require one. I do already have directions and plans for the story in question and I'l put these up as required so that any player knows where the direction is going and can move along accordingly.
Now, on to the setting.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Duskwood. Once a lush and vast forrest, stretching mile upon mile, is now a corrupt and dark land of shadows. Creatures lurk in darkned places and the once thriving homesteads, farms and small towns have become residence to creatures far worse than nightmare.
In its depths, far from the Darkned Bank, is the town of Darkshire. Once thriving, this towns outskirts have now been abandoned, leaving derelict homes in which unatural noises have been heard. The town guards ceaselessly patrol both day and night, despite the little difference in light. It is a dark place where the races fight a desperate battle to keep their homes in this sickened wood.
Of the several taverns that once survived in Darkshire, only a few remain. One such alehouse, frequented with off duty guards hoping to drink themselves into forgetfulness, is the Twisted Nag. Renaimed by the proprietor on the death of the last owner, it is now run by a haggard and dark Gnome. Though seldom known for their lucidity at the best of times, Dirald the Gnome has a reputation for a much darker personality that usually fits his kind. Never the less the tavern is a popular gathering place, its rooms kept safe from harm by wards placed by Dirald himself.
In its busy drinking space, chairs and tables are haphazardly thrown around a dark wooden room, though not spacious it still comfortably houses a score of patrons, its solitary waitress threading her way with difficulty from table to table. All kinds of patrons wonder through, traders, travelers, soldiers and those seeking to make a fortune in the twisted ruins of Duskwood.
On one such table sits a Night Elf. He casually avoids the glances and greetings of the other patrons, sitting himself close to the windows to the corner of the room. In his hands sits a small obsidian ball which he casually rolls from hand to hand and on the table in front lies a plate of food, hardly touched. The odd growl from beneath the table signifies the Worg which lies at its masters feet.
Occasionally the Elf glances towards the door, his eyes expectant. Hes expecting company of all sorts, from paladins to thieves, though mainly the latter in a place such as this. If his suspicions are correct, the next endevor could be lucritive, but more than that answers to questions the Elf has longed to find lie just out of reach...
From here throw in a character sheet. Once people are happy with their characters we can begin the Roleplay

Name: Dedrin Oncelight
Race: Dwarf
Class: Priest
Description: This dwarf is an average hand-span for the people of his homeland but still "short" to most adult humans, and to all races of elves. What he lacks in height, he makes up in width. From shoulder to shoulder this dwarf is two-thirds wide as he is tall.
His beard is not worn brushed, split or woven into multiple braids as most dwarves. His is instead woven into a single dark brown braid running down the center of his chest. It stands out in stark contrast to the deep grey robes he wears. His eyes are the mahogany color of wettened flint, and peer out from beneath two bushy brows. His head is clean shaven and marked with a tattoo on the back like you would expect to see on a forest troll. It's in the shape of a celtic cross, and ink faded green-grey over time. His face is hard and chisled, his mouth void of the age lines of laughter and easy times that most carry. The left side of his face is marked with a jagged and puffy looking scar from the end of his eyebrow to right below his cheekbone.
His supple brown leather boots show periodically from beneath his robes as he strides foward, arms swinging deliberately in a slow arc. From those burly arms sprout calloused, hard working hands, adorned with scars from many brawls and battles. From a simple leather belt dangles a set of large black iron prayer beads fixed at the end with the same cross as his markings display, and a few small pouches which hold all he'll ever need to carry, for he is guided by dark faith and the sound of jingling coins.
Equipment: No "legendary" or "epic" items of note. Simply spell reagents, a few gold coins, his iron prayer beads which double as "knuckles" when needed, exceptionally thick, grey canvas robes, and a good pair of oiled leather boots.
Backstory: If it's alright with you I'd like to feel this one out as we go forth. More than likely there will be a betrayal-type history with the Dark Iron Dwarves and the dark side of faith, and a look into religious "Prophet" becoming "Profit". I'd like to do a bit of research in the Lore before I write in a random history - nothing character altering mind you.

Name: (Okey il steal my old) Tallian Swift

As magic users they are powerfull, they wield common magics bit in addition they have a unique spell repetoar which only wizards can learn and use.
But of course there is a hatch, Wizards as they are few in numbers and can only learn from other wizards have a hard time as students, finding and convince another wizard to train you is both hard and time consuming...

He is a handsome looking man in all, not stunningly beautiful but far from ugly.(okey another steal but hey does it really matter?)
As most wizards Tallian is a loner, he tend to to avoid large cities or towns.
And from that we can guess that he is a quiet man, calm and do not anger quickly.
In general people are afraid of wizards as they are different.. they are mystics, tending to their own and do not meddle with what other people would thing is proper so they are not the most welcome guest in towns or villages but then the wizards themselves dont think of this as a problem as they usually want to be by themselves..

His name was Alric and he to had the flame marks, Tallian was shortly after taken away from the village by this Alric.
Years came and went and Tallian grew older, he studied under Alric and thought of him as his father, at the age of 19 Alric told Tallian everything about what had happened, Tallian of course at first did not belive the old man but slowly the truth became perfectly clear, he stayed with Alric as he never wanted to see his parents again, those who gave him away as he would have been some kind of trading item, he never blamed Alric as the old man only wanted to help Tallian.
He stayed with his mentor to the day he died, Tallian was now 25, his childish thoughts about his mother and father had since long faded away and now he wanted to meet them, maybe they would accept him now.
But Alric died whitout Tallian asking where he could find his family so a jouerny began, Tallian traveled far and wide in his search for his family, sometimes he stumbled over other wizards and could advance in his trait.
And now 30 years old Tallian are still looking....

Of course I'l be adding our good old friend Feanaro:
Name : Feanaro
Age : 568
Race and class : Night-Elf, Hunter
Appearence : Having a slight build and shorter than most of his kin, Feanaro never the less radiates confidence and strength in his Gait. Young by most elvish standards and even by some Dwarfs, Feanaro has a youthful appearance that belies his abilities. His face is thin, with deep purple eyes and his hair, the deep green of forest shadows, is usually swept back in a braid or headband.
Loyalty : Though once as deeeply distrustful of the other races as many of his kin, on the destruction of the world tree and death of his family Feanaro cast aside most of his prejudices.
Humbled by his new found mortality and deeply wounded by the loss of his house and kin, Feanaro usually avoids most sentient company equally and holds no ill will to any but the undead and demonic forces.
Equipment : On leaving his House in Darnassus, Feanaro left behind all belongings and possesions, taking with him meer momentos of home.
His garb was crafted by his own hand and reflects the life of the traveler he now leads. Boots made from the skin of a basilisk and laced with swamp vine cover his legs almost to the knee while leather pants, dyed as deep a green as his hair, cover the rest.
A leather chestpiece crafted from the hide of a Darkfang Lurker is worked with intricate patterns made with bark from various Darnassus trees and covers a soft vest. A cloak crafted from Shadowmaw Panther hide drapes his shoulders, keeping off the worst of the winter rains.
Special posessions :
Shadowmaw Panther Cloak : Crafted from the hide of Feanaro's first pet, Swift, Feanaro keeps the cloak to remind him of his bond to Swift and his friends brave death.
Already dark and embued with the panthers stealthy abilities, the cloak helps hide Feanaro further in the shadows adding to his already formidable shadowblending skills. Other than this it simply acts to keep off the rain and remind Feanaro of Swift.
Serona Family Pendant : Though taking little when the last of his family fell defending the world tree, Feanaro could not part with this last momento of his old life. The pendant is forged from a metal not unlike silver, though enclined to shimmer in moonlight and bears the look of a tree with roots deeply entwined. Around the trees trunk flames twirl and winds blow, while water races near its base. When seen in moonlight or by firelight, the pendant seems alive, the flames being chased by winds and the waters buffeting the firm base of the trunk.
Though once a strong enchantment of protection was placed on this pendant, it has faded in strength over the years leaving with it more of an aura of luck and benevolence.
Farris' Blade : When the races came together to battle against the demonic and undead forces, Farri's and Feanaro were among the many left to guard the world tree. Strongly overwhelmed, the races faught and personal alliances and friendships were quickly forged. Among them was an old Dwarf, straight from Ironforge. A ranger and warrior, Farris faught alongside Feanaro and twice saved him from the claws and blades of the enemy while the rest of his family fell. Unfortunatly Farris was eventually caught offguard while leading a counter attack on the enemys flank and fell to the scourges poisons. Feanaro had lost what was left of his composure, sucombing to a bloodrage that shocked his allies, and draged his old companion back to the reletive safety of their camp. On his death, Farris left his blade in Feanaro's care, protecting him with his weapon as he had with his life.
The blade carries no enchantments, but is perfectly balanced and forged from Mithril by Farris himself. Its edge has stayed keen over the years and its blade still retains its old shine. Feanaro made a scabbard from hides and marked them with a tribute to his friend in Elvish "Protector in life, protector in death"
Backstory : Feanaro came from the Serona family line, one of many houses in the Elven city of Darnassus. Though young by most standards, he came to apprciate and respect the solitude and quite of his forest home, similarly showing no interest in the world beyond. Studying law and beginning his training as a druid, Feanaro had been ripped from his peace when the Burning Legion lay siege to the world tree.
All elven had been called to defend the ancient tree, the centre of life itself, and many fell. Among them were the members of his family, several numbering in the thousands of years old. Though they faught with all their skill, the surprising force and ferocity of the enemy had overwhelmed their defences, and their prejudices against the lesser races stoped them from fighting effectively alongside their new allies.
Towards the end of the battle, the legions had massed on the final rise before the vally and the world tree itself. Feanaro and his family were among the vanguard, charged with flanking and slaughtering the enemy unawares. Among those with him were other members of the Alliance, including Farris who had already made his mark on the enemy.
Tired and battle worn the Vanguard prepared themselves, Elvish hunters and scouts hidden amongst the tree ready to give the right signal for attack. Farris himself was taking lead, to the protests of some Elven, including Feanaro's father. When the forces were eventually seen and the battle prepared, a surprise attack from their own flank led them to a defencesive, with Feanaro's father guarding their back and cursing the lesser races shortsightedness. When Farris had pressed forward to aid his father, he was shuned, some elven refusing to allow him forwards and taking positions themselves. Without coherrant leadership, the group fell apart and races started to group themselves.
His family had struck out on their own, Feanaro hard pressed to follow. The legions quickly broke up what was left of the group and fell had on their own, despite the spells his mother wove and the quick and deadly blade his father slashed with. It was Farris that saved him in the last moments and the horde decended upon what was left of Feanaros group. His family lay dead already, but Farris brought the group back together and pushed back an offencive.
After Farris' death and the end of the burning legion once again, Feanaro found little left in Darnassus. He felt an emptyness within him and looked to the world outside for comfort and solace to his aching heart. Turning from the Druidic teaching, Feanaro found himself more inclined to the role of a hunter, a protector like that of his father and friend Farris. His newfound mortality also humbled him and he felt his life wasted alone in Darnassus.

Also, if Fayeborn has no problem with it, I'l be throwing in the Gnome he created for good measure. I like the little guy.
Name : Oscald Wildwire
Age : 66
Race and class : Gnomish Magi with a Mechanical Squirrel companion.
Appearance : Looks like a gnome from any "Tallwalkers" eyes. Wispy white hair (the blue having faded years -and several spans of sanity- ago) standing in all directions from his balding scalp. Eyes a pale grey are often open wide and look out over a bulbous nose. His full-lipped mouth, always ready with a scowl or grin, displays prominently above a shock white goatee. It also manages to reach wildly at the air around it.
Loyalty : "Why does it matter?? If I'm loyal to one then the other wishes me dead, which is certainly no place to be - death. that is a state of unlife, and unless scourge or forsaken is truly the "afterlife" then there's no reason for belief in anything other than life to death to undeath to unlife!? Loyalty to the living I say! The living and the ignanamorphic, but that's a whole different subject -- What?? That's not a word? Absurd I tell you and absolutely unfathomablisted!! Yes, that's a word too! Who are you to contradict me? There's loyalty for you - Hrumph! Ungratefatalastins." *squints his eyes in mock anticipation of another rebuttal* "Shush it."
Equipment : A simple brown robe with a simple brown belt, hanging from which 3 simple brown pouches. A small backpack from which dangles a miner's pick on one side and a blacksmith hammer on the other. A tall wooden staff reminiscent of the "Illusionary Rod" from Scarlet Monastery, and a fire wand. (all gear mid to high 30'ish for comparison's sake). *items in packs and pouches - Arclight spanner. couple citrine/malachite/jade, etc and a few sticks of dynamite. Conjured food and water and some silk bandages - handful of copper bolts. What else would the mechanical squirrel eat??)
Backstory : Unlike everyone else in Azeroth, Oscald's life was relatively uneventful well into his 30's. His parents were still alive, his siblings still accounted for, and even his childhood friends were still playing in fields of green grass and catching the season's first snowflakes on their innocent tongues.
At least, that's the story he tells himself every night. The sad truth is; When forced to move in with the dwarves Oscald's parents seized an opportunity to make a few coins and educate Oscald in a trade at the same time! Indentured servitude.
Oscald was sold to a human "Mysterious Master of Modern Machinema and Blazes of the Burning Steppes!!" *insert amazed villagers gasp here!*. Oscalds favorite primary jobs were to pick up debris from explosions, gather minerals and rocks for his masters delight and to sometimes put the fires out his all-to-careless master left burning. His less favorite included helping "Charle' Ton - Mysterious Mas- so on and so forth.." come up with new ways to impress the simpleminded people of the countryside, scam them and make off with a few coins better spent on Holiday Lollipops and 8 slot bags. After what seemed like eternity3 (that's Eternity to the third power!) his master retired with nothing more than these words "Oscald, I retire. Your service here is done. Hopefully I have taught you well." and the clothes and items strapped to his small frame.
It was the culmination of those things that caused a gnome in the Wetlands one morning to "crack". He started giggling. He swapped to crying. Then to dancing, and finally to run with no direction in mind until he crumpled in the grass of a hillside, the sun warming his back and realized for the first time he was alone. No desire to see his parents, no desire for human companionship for a quite some time and no goal or aim or scam to come up with. He was unnoticed by the very world *swoosh* that he was part of *swoosh* and would be until.. uhm.. *swoosh* this noise went away??
He sat upright and looked at the tiny set of eyes a mere 12 inches (or 2/3rds a gnome..) away from his own. A mini-dragon! His eyes widened - it's eyes widened. He gasped - it snorted. He exhaled - it spouted flame. A small burst of fire singled the facial hair he had been growing. He pounced backwards and tried to get to his feet. The menacing creature advanced and belched another small bit of flame. He turned to run and noticed the hillside was littered with them! And they were advancing. Overwhelmed he began to run and lost his footing. He hit the ground hard enough to lose his wind and knew there were mere seconds before death came to claim his soul. He could feel tiny claws all over his body. He knew at any moment his entrails would be tore out and strewn about the blades of grass, but was shocked at what happened instead: The *swooshes* started again as he felt his shoulders raise from the ground. They were setting him back on his feet! It appeared they thought him a play toy! Then they played and danced about the field. Sometimes he would form strong bonds with one or two and it was as if they could communicate through gesture and emotion. They taught him fire magic, he taught them .. well, he was never sure what he taught them. Years passed living off the land by these whelps and he'd play and learn with each new brood that hatched. He'd also gather minerals and study them, committing details to memory. Sometimes he'd think about humans and gnomes and the way they'd speak and he'd say words he remembered. He'd speak to the shadows and often in his mind they'd answer. After a time the dragonkin changed. They became hunted and mistrusting and he knew his time spent with them was over. He wandered back into humanity, sold some of his gems from the deposits he mined over time and bought the simplest of supplies. He took up study under an artisan engineer who was as eccentric as himself and then he registered in the school of magic. He realized he only had ability with fire magic, and would never make a "full magi". He decided what he lacked in the arcane, he could make up with explosives. He still has no goals or destination. One day at a time.

No objection at all! If he works better into this, then we can use him either of us running him. If you prefer, scratch the dwarf concept and I'll run the gnome, or vice versa. A priest is never a bad thing to have aaround and I like the concept of a merc priest loyal mainly to himself.

Yep, I totally agree. We can have a number of characters we can run Fayeborn, I think were good enough writers to keep the continuity going. I'l post an opening when I get back from work, but I'v been working like a dog all weekend unfortunatly.
Edit: Actually, I found I dont have to go out for another hour so I'l post now.

I would gladly join if you would let me enter this piece of world with my second character. But I would feel it nice if we would start up with all different charcters form World of Azeroth, because:
(1) it would add a bonus, by entering a totally different group, backstories, etc..
(2) it does not have to collide with the other RPG's setup, so we can even make a 'meeting-point' of the different groups, or we would be able to exchange them!!!
This idea came up, when I attempted to make up my '2nd' char (not in WOW): Eilythriande Aryalinn (Blood elven Warrior, former member of the Spellbreaker Division): however, for plot reasons, I would feel it would be only good to feature him in a group that has no members common with Arinnaya's.
It would also allow to you to come up with characters unknown, but related to the characters at World of Azeroth!
The previous one was barely a suggestion, I await your opinion (most importantly, Grysham's)!!!

Feanaro is a plot character, central to the entire storyline. Without Feanaro there could be no plot, or I'd have to attach it to another character which would kind of... ruin the continuity with Feanaro and his dreams. Feel free to enter a new character though.
Bare in mind that this RP will take place AFTER the other. It will be LATER in YEARS than the other one.

OK.this might help to explain a few things... I attept to make up the charsheet ( however, a few things might actually change over)
Name: Eilythriande Aryalinn
Age: 75 (quite young for a Blood Elf, that live for approx.200 years)
Race and class: proud Blood Elven warrior, former member of the Spell-Breaker Division
Appearence and personality:At first sight, he is very appeasing: Quite tall, even with elven measures, and has a pleasingly handsome face, with long, blonde hair, and blue eyes. These often turn into glowing green, if he senses traces of magic around, and if not cautious enough to conceal this... He has a strongly-built body, but slightly lame on his left leg. This does not hinder him run fast, though. A shining and lively personality, if they ever get to know him, it is hard to forget...He can be bad-tempered sometimes, commencing and picking on others: however, these are never serious.
Loyalty: Though he will never leave any Highborne kin in trouble, he is currently working as a mercenary. He has nothing particular against humans, or some other races, but has to face serious prejustice from their side: that's why he prefers travelling in incognito, hiding his true identity for a high elf. He will not trust any Night Elf on the beginning, but their relationship might become less strined later on, when they get to know eachother...
Equipment: When travelling, he uses a simple, cheap, and ugly white cloak, but it solely serves to conceal his true equipment: Underneath, he still wears the red uniform of the Sin'Dorei He will NOT show his weapon anyone he does not trust, but he still owns a big, red shield, and other traces showing that he is one of the few, who visited Outland.
Special Posessions:
Spellbreaker Blade: A weapon of great renown, actually, quite a few have ever had their hand over a true specimen, despite being the "standard equipment" by Blood Elves. It is a long, specially-crafted, double-sided blade, that bears faintly glowing runes. The weapon must be handled carefully: Rotated above the head, and thrown into the enemy, it has great chance not only to bring devastating damage, but to dispel any magical effects, and hurt beings of magical origin: The blade need't be pulled out, since it is enchanted to return itself to the Spellbreaker's hands.
Ring of Rememberance: Not a truely magical artefact, this was given to him by Leyla Goldweaver, upon her departure.
Aryalinn family relic: Another small 'trinklet', this stems from his beloved Uncle. This piece is magical, and allows the viewing of long-dead relatives in the small gem inset.
Backstory: Born to a poor family of peasants and villagers in a small, forgotten township of Quel'thalas, he was advised by his Uncle: "If you want to become famous, seek out Silvermoon, and join the army!" and "If you wish to get rich, like none of your ancestors, work for the still few Human merchants!! Of course, the young boy wanted both, so he moved to Silvermoon, worked as a guard for some time, but as there was no war, to show his abilities, Eilythriande joined a human trading-house run by the Goldweaver family. Initially working there only as a lowbie member, he befriended the young daughter of the owner, named Leyla. As her father was more than often occupied, he asked the young fellow not only to guard her, but also, to introduce her into the Elven Kingdom. It was he, who taught her speak Talassian/Sindrassi. He could witness her growing into a beautiful young maiden...Yet the storm was still to come:
Arthas rampaged through the Northlands, nearing towards the Elfgates. The Goldweaver family was among the last ones to escape. Eilythriande re-joined the army, in hope of resisting the undead scourge. But they had no luck. Though they fought valaintly, they got separated from the main force, that tore through the gates, murdering everyone, razing everything, even turning the General Sylvanas into a restless spirit...
He, and his small force, held out for weeks without any hope of survival, or even supplies... Undead surrounded them from everywhere. Then, miraculously Arthas has left the land hastily, and so did all his minions. Yet Eilythriande had to pay a gret toll: all his relatives, friends, and his house: were made to ashes. For his brave resistance, he was granted a new rank in the army, by Prince Kael, himself!! They were instructed by a Blood Mage hastily, about the secrets of magics, but only superficiously, in order to be able to counterspell them, destroy magical creatures, and even steal enemy spells! After their training complete, a handful of them remained in Quel'thalas, with Eilythriande amiong them, on guard if the undeads return, while the others, lead by Prince Kael, attepted to join up with the Alliance. As we know, the latter ended in a catastrophe, and Kael fled to Outland: With Lord Ilidan's help, they opened portal to Quel'thalas, to bring the missing ones with them. Eilythriande faced the Black Citadel in the epic battle they finally won, but he got seriously wounded by an Infernal Contraption. He was so badly hurt on the leg, so he couldn't participate in the decisive battle at Icecrown.
After their return to the ruined city of Silvermoon, he worked on menial tasks, even as a simple builder.Later on, without rejoining the Blood Elven Army, he set out on adventuring, working as a mercenary, and seeking friends and realtives, believed to be long lost...

Ok, from what I'v seen both your characters look fine for this RP. Your mecenary especially fits the bill Arinnya, and your Dwarf Fayeborn. Heres the direction of the first chapter.
Feanaro, after almost six years of searching since the last RP "World of Azeroth" has finally found a clue to his incessant dreams which have plagued him for almost seven years now. A black obsidian orb is the key to his dreams, though as yet Feanaro isn't certain what use it is.
He has left a call with a guild of bards and minstruls. They left word in taverns and ale houses that there was a need for mercenarys in Duskwood, the meeting place was the Twisted Nag.
He sits now and waits for some to join him. Oscald, his old friend from years ago, heard of his need for help and came to join him.
Your characters would have heard the same and come. Though they know nothing of the Elf or what is required of them. Only the meeting place and a rough discription.
So, to sum up. Feanaro needs mercenarys. The setting is Duskwood, in the town of Darkshire. The meeting place is the Twisted Nag, a dark and dirty tavern crowded with people. You know nothing of whats needed. You only know a description of the Elf. I'l put up the begning in the RP section and once thats happened feel free to introduce yourselves.
Remeber the rules of this RP. Three paragraphs MIN. Describe things, describe how you think, how you feel, what you expect and so on. Be descriptive.

Just to let everyone know the details of time. Its currently Autumn. Duskwood trees are shedding their leaves.
The time is late miday. Sunset in a few hours.
The weather is cloudy, though there is always a fog in Duskwood. Its hard to see the sky clearly and very rare to see anything smaller than the sun or moon.
Good first posts ^^

//on group composition and stories:
Actually, if anyone would need Arinnaya, the priestess, it is actually possible, to import her (if Fayeborn doesn't import his priest)... to avoid the stories being screwed up, assume, that Eilythriande and Arinnaya actually do know eachother well, moreover, they know eachother's present state as well, because they have met eachother in the time between our two stories (maybe, I will post some 'rememberings' about this: it is a great story on its own as well!!!)
So do treat them almost as relatives (to Eilythriande, Arinnaya is like a 'little sister'): but expect him throwing comments all the way if anyone mentions her!!
Otherwise, keep in mind, that the 1st RPG (World of Azeroth) will likely round about Undead, and Northrend, along with some travelling on the sea... - some of the highest moments I actually planned -together with Shadowrender- were the meeting with Malygos, the Spellweaver!! ( I hope we will actually BE able to get to that point)

Sounds good if Fayeborn doesn't use his Dwarf. Personally I like the Dwarf though, and a new dynamic character is always welcome. Besides, who doesn't love a surly Dwarf?
Fayeborns call however, I'm not sure weather hes bringing him in or not.

I do plan on bringing in the dwarf. Work has just exploded on me and I can't even keep up with reading the posts, much less typing some up atm. What I don't get posted here in the next 2.5-3 hours I'll get added in later.
Oscald came first being as Grysham wanted him added and if I fail to keep up with him, Grysham has a good grip on the persona of the gnome. The dwarf will come in a bit =)

fine french wine.
On the off topic subject of wines, this is an excellent year for several Austrailian and Chillean varietals.
There will be some roots in Dark Iron, yes. I'm researching the lore now to find out exactly how deep the roots go.

Hey guys - decided I would join the Sweeping Tides after all, if I may. Here's my character, and if he is accepted I will write him into the RP thread ASAP:
Name: Eleazar (Corporal)
Race/Class: Human Warrior
Description:
Eleazar is in his mid-forties with cropped balding brown hair, with wings of white at his temples. His sideburns hook into a curving moustache that bristles under his nose, and his chin remains clean-shaven. I've heard it said that you can tell the strength of a man's soul by looking into his eyes; Eleazar has intense, piercing grey eyes that never stop moving, except to fix one with a stare that will unsettle any seasoned veteran. He is not a man that is easily impressed or coerced.
He stands at an average height of 6'1, and his build is not exactly cut, but one close glance reveals that he has incredible strength - like that of a bull. He bears many scars from battle, notably one from the right part of his neck down to his right breast. He wields a simple soldier's sword, lacking any glamour, which he sharpens and polishes every few hours. His shield is battered and worn down from much use, which used to brandish the Lion of Stormwind on a field of blue, but is no longer distinguishable. His platemail armor is practical and grey with two chevrons on his right shoulder, signifying his rank as a Corporal for the Alliance. He holds himself soberly, as a soldier; his helmet is a standard plate-mail helm, with small eye-slits. A soldier's appearance for a soldier's heart - he feels that grim times (battle) should be reflected with grim attitudes and arms. He believes that flambouyant armor and weaponry only shows that the bearer has no concept of what it means to take a man's life. He is a simple man - practical and persistent.
What do you think?

to Fayeborn:
The Dark irons are fun, especially because of their unique appearance: their skin is dark, almost black, their hair (and beard of course) is usually white, with their eyes glowing fiery red or orange!!! The latter is a magical gift from Ragnaros.
They do posess some special abilities: while prefering to be rouges, of course, they can become mages easily, a path normally hard to take by other dwarves... They also share an unnaturally strong resistance to fire (these facts were taken from the Warcraft RPG book: Lands of Conflict)
To Jondar:
Welcome to our little community!!! As I see you focused on your character's official military ranks: it might be a good RP element, that will both help solving some problems, and of course, generating many conflict between the adveturers: for example, Elythriande, the blood elf will not trust anybody holding official rank at the alliance army. (you may find the opposite for Arinnaya, the priestess...) Nice chance for building special interactions and personal relations!!!

Yep, your charactar looks fine Jondar. Feel free to introduce yourself, and you've come at the right time.
To let you know the current setting, Feanaro the Night Elf has put out a call in taverns and inns in the area that he needs those who can lend their swords for a venture. Mercenarys are what he expects.
The time is currently sunset. The place is Duskwood, in a tavern named the Twisted Nag. The characters are gathered around a table, finishing their discussion.
As a military type you'd have to explain why he left his post to come to Duskwood, or to answer Feanaro's help. Of course you char could also be a soldier currently AT darkshire, the town their at. Feel free to bring him in in some way, linking it with your own character.

Enter the bad guy ^^
I'v always thought the lack of an enemy plotting against you often brings an RP to a stalemate. Characters want something to overcome, afterall.
So, enter Charik. Part of our plot and story. I hope you all have alot of fun with him, I know I will.

Good question. I didn't feel it neccesary to make this turn based, more post when you feel its right for you to do so, and try not to post every other go unless your directly pulled to.
However, since you've just appeared feel free to post straight away. I'm interested myself to see what your Human is doing there and just what he thinks of it all.
Also, just so everyone knows, Charik is some way off. Not attacking our party. Its just a little introduction of him to set a little mood. Just to make it clear he is nowhere near darkshire or the Inn.
One MORE thing, once everyone is ready to retire their characters for the night, give me the all clear here to change to morning. Very important that the change is fluidic. The morning also officially ushers in:
Chapter 2: The Woods Weepings

Oh, nice idea for the story of Eleazar, i only have to correct one minor flaw:
Elythriande is disguising his true identity for a High Elf: yet, the others are uneasy about him, as if they suspected something...
He is only afraid of officers, for he thought the Corporal was following them, to discover, that they were prepairing for a not-so legal business. While Elythriande is NOT a rogue, being caught would fall terribly upon him: for, under the cloak, he cannot hide the clear hints to his identity...And commander Garithos had only one purpose with the Blood Elves caught.....
Just wait for them to leave to territories far off from humanity, to reveal himself...

09-12-2005, 12:51 PM
Yep, seems everythings more or less ready for the next day. I'l get whatever needs to be wrapped up wrapped up and we can be off.
Oh, just a minor point. Try to keep any OOC comments out of the main RP thread. Or if you do have OOC comments to make, make it with your RP post rather than little sentences cluttering things up.

Riiiiight, just to let everyone know the direction this chapter will be taking, here it is. I'm not sure if I'l post in the RP section tonight as I'm about to fall asleep at the keys, but I can at least keep you updated on the story.
Our brave heroes are about to hit the road. Nothing untoward will happen in the Inn or on the Road until on their way south the Road seems to come to an abrupt end. This is, as you can imagine, quite strange as the road their on is the main road through Duskwood, one traveled by many even if not frequently. Never the less, Feanaro wants to carry on regardless, feeling like the wood is testing them.
They'l leave the road, heading roughly south but feeling lost. In reality they ARE lost.
Get ready for a little fun ^^
Arinnaya
11-12-2005, 01:04 AM
Getting lost is a great story element!!! Maybe like the cursed woods in the classc horror 'Blairwitch'??? Don't expect Elythriande to be too upset about this turn: though I bet no one in the world loves getting lost, at least, there is less to worry about the Alliance guards...
If it comes to fight, however, expect Elythriande to uncover his true identity, with his equipment - within a moment!!!
an important notice: let everyone actually meet Feanaro first: that is actually VITAL to the story, regarding the point of Tallian, the Wizard, and Nacolita, the Druid, electo's new character. Give them a chance to keep the story up, and build a few interesting interactions!!

Jondar, your outro was as spectacular as your intro. Extremely discriptive and emotional. /salute the fallen warrior.
Have fun out of the country! And you'll be welcomed back if you should so choose on your return.

on Sweeping Tide: Let us take all members, and off we go!! I can barely wait being lost in the wilderness!!

Hey, no need to worry Arinnaya. I like it here, and the people who post. Though crimbo is coming along and I wont be here alot, I will be posting here again so dont worry too much about this place dieing. When crimbo is over I bet things will get back to how they were.
Still, I'l write a little something on both sides to keep things moving.
OK people, I'm gonna say something but try not to give the game away to whats going to happen. At the moment, all of ya. Including Shanda, are trapped in the forrest.
Whatever way you go you'l be in the forest. No houses, farmsteads, roads or other people will you find. Only things that will attack you relentlessly, draining your powers and strength over and over. You'l be able to defeat them, if you fight hard, and every time you do you can rest. But after a while another attack will come, so be ready.

on Nacolita's plot with Elythriande:
While it may seem this is a 'sure-enough' easy romance plot, I must disappoint everyone:
Elythriande is a hard nut to crack, when it comes to such emotions. He has several grave secrets deep within his soul, even many terrifying ones. To reaveal them, you must wait until you can befriend him enough to let them tell...
While he seems easy about whomever he meets (at least at the first sight), his personality will only be reavealed to those whom he feels worthy enough of sharing the secrets.
However, a good druid (you must find an explanation for a female Druid!) can help him with realizing his only true path, and destiny. But, remember: the decisive steps, that must be made by him, without anyone's help!!
Another strange feature GoodToKnow: Elythriande posesses some friends from the Horde faction he met over his adventure throughout the last decade.

Okay I would like to submit this character for the sweeping tide if this is okay with the rest of you, I will try and work him in somewhere.
Name: Jason Smithson/Darken Rhall
Age: 35
Class: Rouge
Race: Human

Jason's reall name is Darken Rhall, this was in the time he worked for the king.

Of course, Boss!! As you see, we are right in the middle of a battle scene. I thought it would be interesting, but no one seemed to answer on it. I threated your, and Fayeborn's characters with respect, and have taken you along the way with some minor comments. I hope it fits their personality.
(on Story): we are years past the first adventure onto Northrend (the prelude of which is running in World of Azeroth). Some know echother well, while others are newcomers. The others do not even suspect, but Elythriande knows Arinnaya well, they have met eachother first, after 10 years in the end of Northrend adventure. Arinnaya is currently at Stormwind. Yet the others might not know this fact, should anyone mention the Priestess' name, it will set Elythriande's storytelling in motion.

Ah, I've read those. Blood of the Fold and a few others. Yeah the books were pretty good though I notice a slight slant of hyper anti-comunism with the "old world" dont you think? Never the less they are good books.
Epwk, your character seems ok but bare a couple of things in mind. There will be creatures, just regular creatures, in my story which will be more powerful or may overwhelm you in sheer numbers. No matter how good a swordsman, bowman or mage, sheer numbers can always overwhelm. Take the game itself, being attacked by 20 lower level creatures can still kill.
Also you'l find other characters you may have to battle with. Try not to have a sweeping victory, think more along the lines of a genuin battle. I'l post in the OOC to let people know what kind of power the creatures have and if they CAN be defeated.
I read the post while I was gone, their fine in my oppinion. Forgive me if I miss out small details of your posts here and there as I skimmed over some. The fight is fine and I'l continue from that point.
Hehe don't worry, I didnt intend him to be a uber killing machine :P
so it not that he will kill 30 doomguards or something.
If I kill anything that is in my way without ease there is no RP nessacery I just kill all evil and go home :P and being A DM myself now for 4 years I hate uber chars that can do everything.
Just like any other hero in WOW he is just a bit better then your average rogue.

Yep thats not a problem then. However you join the group remember that in Duskwood anyone they meet will be treated with suspecion. Its a matter of survival afterall.
If you do meet up in the woods where the current group are you'l be incessantly attacked by wave after wave of attackers, each specific to what your character hates, fears, dislikes.
I'm afraid that I probably wont be returning to the other RP as your all pretty far in now and its a little too much for me to get through then post on. I guess you could consider that RP an introduction to Feanaro ^^
I will work myself in your story somehow don't worry and Jason is used to not being trusted by others he knows he has to work hard to gain that trust.
As for the other RP not much has happend, so if you still want to know what happend so far PM me and I will fill ya in I will try to put it in a fast summary for ya :uhhuh:

(to Grysham):
Do not worry on the other RP: I have made posts to suggest that Feanaro, followed by Oscald, have set out on a journey to search for Grythic. There is already a day passed (or almost a day), but you can always make a post filling in that day with a searching quest. You can even add some pieces of 'conspirative evidence' you stumbled upon. The next day, you can simply walk on the road towards us, and tell all what happened to you!
(on the storyline):
Please, if you are planning some sort of portaling, give a small time to interrupt it, as Elythriande will demand that we bring Arinnaya with us (it will be an easy journey, through the river to Stormwind, where she resides. This would be an interesting plot...
Grysham
14-01-2006, 01:33 PM
theres not going to be any porteling... exactly. Not like the standard one anyway. However, Feanaro isn't going to wait for anybody or anything. Nothing will slow him down in his pursuit of the prophecy and he would have traveled alone if he had to. Note when he spoke with everyone he gave them till morning to decide, he doesn't care if they do come or not as to him they are mercenarys, assets to be used.

Ah, I just want to make it clear that Feanaro, the Dark Elf Hunter who's leading the group, is NOT fighting in ANY way. Hes not shooting arrows or got a blade in hand, hes watching only. His companion Grythic (his pet worg with dark and black fur) is fighting.
Arinnaya
14-01-2006, 07:52 PM
Sorry!! ... only a minor glitch... I suppose it will not disturb the overall course of the story... After all, all I wanted to press, that there were already fallen victims from the worgen horde's side.
The introduction of Elythriande's armour was so detailed for only one reason: everyone will see it easily from this point, that he is a Blood Elf, since what he wears is actually the official (if battered) uniform of the Spell Breakers. The kilt is traditional to all High Elven warriors, but the blood-red armour, and the dragonhawk ornaments tell more than every word. Just like his bright green eyes.
Additionally, Elythriande is not only using his feet in battle: he used it only on the occasion as a mortally wounded worgen fell right before him.
He normally fights with the double-sword, either as spinned, and striking with it, or spinning it above his head, and throwing it into the enemy. Then all he has to do is to clench his hands, and the sword returns into it by magical means, as if it were a boomerang.

Yep, I couldn't log onto the forum all last night. The forum servers must have been playing up.
Hay peeps, can i join this one? i have been thinking long and hard abought it and i got a pretty good background.
Name: Nork (yes the Gnome warlock)
Appearence and Equipmant: Green hair, with the worse come over any one has ever seen, though it is rearly seen, as he is oftan wearing a Blue cowl to cover his dark and twisted face of anger. He is wearing a mish mash of Fel Cloth and dream weave armour. He also carrys the Staff of Jordan. So pretty much the same as WoA, but with the addition of a Fire Wand.
Backstory:After evnts at Northrend. Nork killed his former master, in a pitted battle that lasted days. The type of battle that only occued when 2 powerful Warlocks engaged in a duel to the death. Juding each other, sizeing up there summons. But Nork eventually won the battle, barely getting away with his life and leaving himscarred and drained. Using his Hearthstone to relenquish his being back to Ironforge, Nork spent weeks at the Inn recuperating his strengths.
After weeks of rest, Nork found that his powers had wained. He no longer possesed the former powers he had. The shadows no longer spoke to him. He found only darkness in the shadow, just like everybody else. Returning to The SLaughtered Lamb. He seeked council with the Elders of his kind.
After many inspections and murmering around the giant bonfire that burnt in the middle of the chambers, they came to a conclusion. Nork had lost his former powers because he had lost he ability to hate. Hate for his former master and his tretchery was what gave Nork his strength and power. With that gone, Nork was no more than a mage that could summon demons.
Cast out of the Warlock order, Nork became outcast. He travelled the lands looking for his place in the world once again. He travelled from Un-Goro and helped the exgavationists in there understanding of the area. He went to Westfall and helped the Militia fight off the Defias Brotherhood for a time. He would help the Elves better understand there immortality, though it seemed to him, they were no closer to it, than he was in getting his powers back.
After some years, Nork became used to the idea that he would never regain his former strength and hired himself out as a mercinary. Who ever paid the most, he would lend a hand. Fromexgavatons through Zul'Garrub. To reccy partys at the Black Wing Spire.
Recently Nork found himself in Redridge, at the relativly peaceful town of Lakeshire, or so he thought. He heard from the town guard that they were having problems with some orcs high up in the mountains. Nork joined a small raiding party and went to hassle the Orcs. But the Orcs were stronger then they first realised and the party were too weak. Most of the party had been slain, Nork only managed to escape thanks to his Voidwalker, Jazkath, but an Orc arrow had pierced his shulder. Though for any one that is not a Gnome, it would bearly do a thing, but to a Gnome, it was fatal, unless he found help soon.
Nork fled form the battle and when it was safe to do so he summoned forth his Felstead and told it to take him to safty. But his link with the creature had become weak due to the injury. Nork found himself slipping in and out of conciousness. The only thing keeping him alive was the health Stone he held in his hand, as he slummped forward and ,muttered to him self. From time to time he would se Karren, his little Shadow Imp.

Yep, your characters fine with me if you want to work it into the story. I'l post on Sweeping Tide this afternoon when I get some time from work.
Bare in mind Feanaro wont much care for your problems, hes got enough of his own. He also wont try to take you back to safety and will expect you to do this yourself. Hes become pretty cold lately. The other characters might help however, or persuade Feanaro.
Ewpk, sorry to ignore your character so bluntly ^^ Feel free to now chat or yell at Feanaro or any other member of the group.
To let people know the current story direction I'l tell you what I have planed for this chapter.
The group are currently traped inside a temporal dreamworld. This dreamworld is control by a beast of the Duskwoods. This beast ensnare travelers, like a spider, inside this temporal world that looks just like the forest yet is not. If you keep walking you'l just come back to where you started.
Here you are attacked over and over by creatures, all the time the creatures will be things a member of the group particularly fears or hates to make them fight even harder. The energy and magic used to kill the beasts is absorbed by the creature who has us ensnared. I ment to make us being ensnared more obvious, but before I knew it we were already attacked by worgen and I ran with that ^^
Some might have noticed that the Worgen didn't act normally. Normally they would have been more cautious, wouldn't have been in such a large pack and wouldn't have attacked till they were all dead. After one or two deaths worgen normally just run.
Hopefully people will notice the strangeness and the fact their going in circles and start to try to find a way out.
The best way for that is if we persuade the human to take the girl away. We both wonder in seperate directions yet still meet eachother. Same with the Wizard perhaps? Let me know what you all think

Would make sense and allow all players to participate.
hehe I don't mind you are ignoring my char :P
You are just thicking him off.
He might be forced to live as a mercenary.
But he still has things like loyalty things a normal mercenary doesn't have.
So he still not used to people not caring for eachother when traveling together.

Out of curiosity, is Electro still posting or has he/she gone now? If they wont be around we'd better take control of his character

hmm I dont really know what I am to do next..maybe I should just let you guys depart and then when I myself leave we all meet as you spoke of.
Myabe I could even after awhile figure out what has captured me(us) in this dreamtrap, Tallian is very intelligent, and problems of magic is what he knows best to handle.

A question of mine: Does everyone wishes to interact with Elythriande?? I suppose it was planned to be so. Yet, if not, then I will simply make him continue without a word...
I thought about 'discovering' a Blood Elf is not an everyday event, even to accomplished adventurers. This is mainly due to the bad reputation the Sin'Dorei have... especially in Human, or Night Elven societies...

No doubt people will be questioning you soon enough Arinnaya, but they've all just finished a battle so I imagine people will be nursing their wounds for a moment. Feanaro will be getting to you in a soon as well.
Will post soon in the RP, gotta work for now.
This sounds cool. I could have Nork on his Felstead stumble upon your party, perhaps the priest could heal me and i go abought my way. Only to meet up with you lot again.

Whatever works. Hehe.. Who says the priest will heal you? Muwhahahaha
I jest of course. I'm sur ehe has a bandage or two left.
As for Elythriande - I doubt few would know what to say about the bits and pieces they'd just seen him tear apart. He didn't need healing, he didn't get burned and I'm not quite sure what to make of him at this point with Oscald because - well, he's kind of scary.
With Dedrin - why would the dwarf want to chase him off with him being such a strong ally? Or on the flip side of the coin, why would the dwarf want him as a stronger ally in case he turned against Dedrins treasure gain?
As far as OOC - I don't know much about blood elves and their ways. I know there's a pack of them in Azshara that have a pretty long aggro range when I run through on my priest.
well, looking through, the priest gave me a good pryer and im alive again, thought id wait for other posts, see what every ones reaction was first.
I figured i would give the priest a Soul Stone as a return of good faith. Thus this could lead to his 'death' in a future battle. Could put a good climax sort of edge to the story, have some one die and all.

Sorry, I really did not want my character to seem as 'invincible'. All I wanted to press he is not the pretty fairy you would expect from an elf. Apart from being cruel and remorseless in battles, he obvoiusly display a sense of skilled, veteran warrior, who had lost all sense of honour and justice he once posessed. Now he adventures only to satisfy his wanderlust, and to find some kind of 'destiny', and tranquility for himself. Remember, he is the sole survivor of his whole family, and both the events, and the magical addiction has hardened his heart.
As for Blood Elves (in general), they are a cruel, self-centered, and utterly power-oriented race. The very magical addiction, that every Quel'dorei senses since the destruction of the Sunwell, is several times augmented in the Sin'Dorei. Many were desperate enough to embrace demonic energies, and use every posible way to regain their lost kingdom. The word: 'maddened mage' says pretty much all, as it describes Kael, their former leader.
To get their story with all points, I suggest playing WarcraftIII: The Frozen Throne's second campaign (the Curse of the Blood Elves).
A few easy links for some idea about them: the Blood Mages (http://www.battle.net/war3/human/units/bloodmage.shtml), the Spell Breakers (http://www.battle.net/war3/human/units/spellbreaker.shtml), Sorceresses (http://www.battle.net/war3/human/units/sorceress.shtml), Priests (http://www.battle.net/war3/human/units/priest.shtml) and the Dragonhawk Riders (http://www.battle.net/war3/human/units/dragonhawk.shtml)

Thanks - understand a bit better now.
Nork - I like the SS idea.
Glad to be of service. As you may have read, Nork has begun his journey back to Lakeshire, so it may be some time before i post again, I might put one in to emphisize the fact that i seem to be going around in circles.
When would it be a good time for him to meet you again? i would say, just as you start fighting a secound lot of Worgen, Nork has been on these forums for abought a week now, hes getting a bit frustrated abought not killing anything!!!

All things in good time.
I believe we'll probably have a couple skirmishes. We may write in some near misses where we hear one another, but not see each other, or catch sight of one another but on further investigation can't see that anyone was really ever there.
It would allow the players to focus more on magical intervention than simply recognizing we're wandering in circles. It could also build up a bit of a more sinister overtone. Either way I'll follow Grysham's lead.
hmmm, so a bit of 'solo grinding' then. i could do with a warm up before a nice big battle. How abought we take on segeras?! or Ragneros?! nah i kid, though i could solo Ragneros no probs.
Seriously now. I wouldnt mind knowing even more abought this wood. How do we plan on breaking out? Will we be together when we do?
Grysham
20-01-2006, 12:47 AM
My plan is that we end up together, give or take.
When you wonder around in circles remember your all, each and every one of you, going to be randomly attacked by the things you fear or hate the most. They'l attack you till the point you almost tire, never doing much damage to you but always seeming ferocious, then you'l beat them at the last moment and have time to rest.
Then all over again.

If it's all right with y'all, I'd like to join...
Name: Jallun
Race: Undead
Class: Warlock
Looks: Grayish skin that seems stretched very thin over his body. His hands are totally bone. Jallun's face is almost always obscured by a large black hood, which he never puts down. Jallun is quite skilled at qielding magic directly when he needs to, but prefers to operate through his many demonic minions.
Demons:
-Main Demons-
Imp- Chotuk
Voidwalker- Jhazrath
Succubus- Servana
Felhound- Dragmar
-Lesser Demons-
Imps-
Met'kil
Raza
Mat'ka
Hirjen
Damaj
Voidwalkers-
Mut'razh
Jokkahn
Succubus-
Drelissa
Felhound-
Hrogat
Equipment-
Long, blood red hooded cloak which has the hood always pulls over his head. Long wodden staff with a gnarled knot of wood at the top with a pitch black gem on the top that seems to suck light out of the air, yet can glow purple in the dark upon Jallun's command. Jallun also uses a shadow wand.
Backstory:
Jallun(then known as Jarta) was born to a poor peasent family in Westfall(back when he was human). Jarta grew up working on his fathers scrap of land, but always wanted more then that small piece of land. However, no matter how he tried and begged, his father would not give him permission to leave and train. Finally, Jarta gaveup on his parent's permission and left for Stormwind on his own. Jarta was severely wounded by gnolls on his trip there, however, and was only saved by a passing troll priest. The troll ran off after healing him and casting a spell of protection that would safely get him to Stormwind, but the experience left Jarta with a deep respect for the horde. Jarta went into Stormwind with the intention of becoming a priest himself. However, as he began his priestly training, he immediently was facinated by the darker side of the priest. He loved striking fear in the hearts of his enemies, he loved manipulating their minds, he loved being able to cause immense pain with a single word. Gradually, Jarta became more and more a dark priest.
Jarta kept his interests firmly planted in both sides of the priest, though. He was always sure to keep up with his training on healing and protection. But slowly, his obsession with the dark overcame him. In order to sate his thrist for dark knowledge, Jarta joined a cult known as the Ebon Hand. Here, he quickly rose through the ranks until he was second only to the leader of the cult, who was worshipped as a god by everyone in the cult except Jarta. Though he gained this leader's, who was a warlock, trust he ever fully believed in his infinate power. Jarta was sent on higher and higher profile missions for the Hand, which sougt to undermine what it saw as an "unjust surpression of the occult" in the alliance. The Ebon Hand had firm connections with the Horde, and this suited Jarta fine. On one particular mission, however, the leader of the Ebon Hand accompanied them. Just before the journey, the leader, known only as "Lord", addressed the cult, claiming that if he did not come back alive. Jarta did not show it, but this brought many evil ideas to his mind.
Jarta and the "Lord" left on the trip into Westfall the next morning. Their assignment was to destroy some of the large farms in Westfall and posibly some of the begginings of a group calling itself "The Defias Brotherhood". Jarta, however, had other plans. He was the one who made sure the dagger flew straight into Lord's chest. He was the one who took advantage of Lord's situation and summoned his own demon, Chotuk, to finish his former master. From then on, Jarta became Jallun, and Jallun became a Warlock. Jallun used his dark powers of control to keep the Ebon Hand working exactly as he wanted it to while he devoted the rest of his attention to becoming a fully fledged warlock. However, in his obsessive studies of the occult, Jallun neglected to see what was happening practicly in front of his eyes. The cult was becoming restless, unhappy with Jallun's obsessive studies and neglect to the cult of the Ebon Hand. So, one day, he felt that dagger slip between his ribs. He felt the cold hand of death grab him, pulling him to the Abyss...
Or did he? For not one month later, Jallun awoke. He was encased in some sort of rock prison. He could not see anything; there was no light. desperately, Jallun recalled the incantation to summon his preferred Imp, Chotuk. With help from his imp, Jallun managed to blast his way out of his prison... which turned out to be a coffin. Jallun panicked, and looked down at his hands; they were all bone. Jallun ran out of the tomb, then suddenly remembered all; the dinner beforehand... his return to his study... the sudden pain in his chest... the silence... the cold. Jallun remembered it all, and vowed revenge on the cult that had made and destroyed him. Jallun immediently began work. He harvested soul shards from creatures around him, gathering enough to fuel a small army of demons. Jallun became a master of demonbinding and summoning. He learned how to summon a multitude of demons at once. He even created a new technique to bind a demon into a shadowgem, binding his Imp, Chotuk, into the stone on the end of his staff and transferring a small bit of Chotuk's power into it. Now, rather then taking ten seconds to summon his preferred helper, Chotuk, he merely pounds his staff against the ground. Jallun used imps to infiltrate the Ebon Hand, whispering things into the ears of his former companions, driving them to insanity. With the entire cult practicly at it's knees, Jallun made his move.
Jallun completely destroyed the Stormwind-based guild through an attack from his 6 Imps, 3 Voidwalkers, 2 Succubi, 2 Felhounds, and one Infernal. The attack was over as quickly as it began, with the infernal crashing onto the secret headquaters of the Ebon Hand during a meeting, killing half of the people inside. His other minions helped to finish off the other hand, then were dismissed before the stormwind gaurd could get there. He left the infernal to wreak havoc; Jallun felt no sympathy for the human inhabitants of Stormwind. Now Jallun hides deep within forests, not allying with anyone but himself. His eyes and ears are everywhere; he sees, knows, and hears all.
(OOC: I can be an enemy or an ally... just depends on the situation.)

(on the post above):
Great backstory, indeed!!! Though some subtle pieces have eluded my comprehenson: how did he exactly become an undead??? Apart from those, who were afflicted by Nehr'Zul's plague on Northrend of Lordaeron, only few isolated instances of Undeath exists in the world. If I remember well, there were undead units in Warcraft 1 and 2 as well, but they required a great power of the Necrolytes to summon... There must be a necromancer hand at work, when dealing with them - at least, I think...
Elythriande will not be surprised at all, he had dealt with Undead before - even if the others have not...

Ariannaya a small note on your last post in the rp. you might have seen Tallian, but not thats hes a wizard, only the marks on his hands can show what he really is.
And even if you thought that "hmm hes invisible, mages cant go invisible" wizards powers are a mysterium for everyone, only themselves know what they can do and thus you cannot have even guessed that its a wizard, and to that they are rare very rare, you could count the wizards now alive under 40 or less

Though he had no concrete way of figuring out how he had risen from the dead, Jallun immediently devoted himself to revenge for his suckening new life. He harvested soul shards from creatures around him, gathering enough to fuel a small army of demons. Jallun became a master of demonbinding and summoning. (OOC: If posible, I might have Jallun pick up small clues to his rebirth as he goes along; it won't interfere with the story much, but I think it'll be interesting for Jallun to have this mystery hanging over his head. A quick note: Jallun is kind of power and revenge motivated. He does not help unless somthing is in it for him, and if he is crossed, he will retaliate with the brutest force posible. You might've guessed it from his subtle reaction to his death :p...)

Funny... You are certainly welcome to try, but prepare for some nasty side-effects... After all, Elytriande was trained as a Spellbreaker, so he knows a bit about how to counter it...(read the description: Blood Elven warrior trained to destroy spellcasters.)
He would simply activate the ability: Spell Shield. This blocks out incoming spells, to a total of characterlevel/5, and having a duration equal to charlvl in seconds. (cooldown 15 mins) Even area-affecting spells are resisted, and hostile magic aimed directly at him gets deflected towards a random enemy: This quickly ends up with Mages turning to sheep, Warlocks putting the Curse of Doom on their own head, and Priests charming themselves.... just be cautious about this matter.
I am quite familiar with race traits of the Blood Elves. But a giant Infernal's foot isnt a spell cast, is it? Plus all i would have to do is use my spell stone and i would simply absorb the Cast. See you are not the only one with Spell shields.

Hmm. you are right with the infernals, but a but still earthbound to the world of WOW, disregarding earlier warcraft games (just remember, mages in WOW cannot use Invisibility or Summon Phoenix as Tallian did). These abilities were imported from earlier games.
I do not want to disappoint you, but Spell Breakers (http://www.battle.net/war3/human/units/spellbreaker.shtml) were carrying the following ablities in Warcraft3xp: Spell immunity, Spell steal, Control Magic, and Feedback. In addition, they had normal damage, about the grade (if slightly over) a Footman. I felt it would be unfair to create a completely magic-immune character, so I substituted it with a much weaker ability. Remember, the demons' damage was considered normal, even if it was thrown in bolts in WC3. So I assume 'magic immunity' does not mean complete immunity to otherwise natural damage forms (physical or elemental), only those of purely magical form.
You can also feel free, to add your warlock the Cripple, and Unholy Frenzy spells. These were the ones they posessed in Warcraft3. Plus they had Poison Cloud, Summon Giant Spider, and Unholy Armour in Warcraft1. The latter made the target invulnerable for a short duration, but at the cost of draining a lot of HPs.

is there any chace of boosting the times at all?

I'm afraid not, there admin controlled. I could always ask Elly if she could adjust them for this section.
Edit: Just read through your posts and I'm now going to read through the RP section to see whats been happening.
First up, cheetoaddict: Try to remember not to overpower your character. Although its plausable for someone to eventually be able to summon so many demons, its somewhat unbelievable that even those powerful creatures could wipe out an entire cult. Wouldn't they all have demons of their own? And wouldn't they be able to at least escape if nothing else?
The rest of your story is fine, but try not to have umpteen demons running around and no harm coming to your character. Sweeping Tide is erring more to the realistic side of WoW rather than the pure game side. Travel time between places is several days, not minuites. And being attacked even by a pack of worgs could kill you if your alone. Welcome to the RP and our RP forums
Electro: Sorry. We took a little control of your character as we weren't sure if you'd be coming back. Feel free to step right back in. To update you Feanaro thinks your a liability and has sent you back with Norks character. However as everyone is trapped and going to be attacked pretty repetitively for the moment you guys wont make it back and will come across the other characters sporadically.
Feanaro thinks your a liability and has sent you back with Norks character.
Wrong! i am alone fighting Infernals, he was sent back with Ewpk's chracter, but she escaped and snuck back to the party. Where she saw some Horde and shouted help.
For any one questioning abought my enslaved Infernal, i am going to have him chase off some Horde chracter, as he is chasing him, i will release him, thus turning him into a mob again and his aggro will be on the Horde, not quite true to WoW, but the best way i figured of getting ris of it, without having to fight it and get killed. Sure i could, but did any one fight a Towering Infernal during beta? them fkers are 'ard!
damit greysham!!! you made me post twice!!! now i have to write bonk! as it wount let me delete the damn post!!! (if you are a noob and woundering, you cant make a post within a thred if someone has posted 30secs before you. I clicked post, it fobbed me of and i clicked again!)

I await your opinion: what shall we do with the Hordies?? Shall Elythriande recognize one of them, as a friend (thus putting it on my shoulders, to carry along, and ropleplay another additional 4 characters), or make them utterly blood-crazed foreigners, falling before the might of our group?? There is a chance for both ways at this point, so make your choice!!!
In reply to Arinnaya's post, which she accidently put in Severance OOC, i say slughter the Fking lot of em. I have my Infernal attacking the tauren, or it will once it reaches combat, but if you decide to befriend them, then i can call him off. Plus, i would be more than happy to take on an Orc Warriou as a secound carc.

Don't worry, this guy'll be mortal(or as mortal as an undead guy can be) in the story. You'll probably just meet one or two of his demons at once; he obviously can't keep control of umpteen demons at once for long periods of time, as you said; as for the wiping out of the cult, most of that was done by the infernal's meteor dropping. If a large meteor fell on a buiilding, that building would probably be screwed :p.
BTW: Mostly he jsut uses weak imps for multiple summons. His secondary stuff is like half as strong as his main guys, but keeping one large, powerful demon under control is enough. Sorry if it seems liek I'm trying to completely disregard your advice, becuase I'm not. Realism is somthing I can do.

No problem. I just like to keep things real, like a rappa :afro:
Hmm, the others seem to have wondered off a little though

Sorry to put up the question again, but I feel, that most are not focused on it:
I have devised a nice plot element, if you want the Hordies to be friendly, or you can annihilate them, producing another battlescene.
Grysham, your opinion?? and Shanda?? or electro???

I dont want to have too many characters running around in this RP personally or it can easily get confusing.
However they could be temporary. Perhaps the horde have been trapped here for much longer than the rest of us and are already being drained by all the fighting, making them seem almost ghostlike? Solid, but with a sort of dream like quality to em?

I'll go with the flow on this one, which is why I haven't posted yet.
Well, that and having bought a house last week I'be been putting all my spare time into paint/interior. Will likely do so over the weekend also.

(on the encountered orcs/trolls/tauren):
My original idea was similar to that. Basically, the group went lost, and have not slept since days, while the enemy keeps dancing on their nerves. I did not want to take them all along, only for a while. (all they want is to get out of the forest) That would mean, we could take them along for a few miles (the characters are yours to take as well, but they depart soon.) There would be an orkish fighter, Gash'Nag, "friend" of Elythriande, a Shaman, Drak'Thul, two trolls (a rouge, and a woodoo witch, the former will be proud of his shrunken head collection), and Thunderhoof, the Tauren Druid. If you allow me, I will post themeeting-story, and they will be yours to take. Is it OK, or you still want to slay them?? I bet electro did not wish to kill them... well, Thunderhoof is his to take...
Any additional ideas/comments? If the above sketch is OK, I will post the story...
After all, we can still go killing a few Undead, and kin to satisfy our bloodlust later...

Isn't Drak'thul a character in Warcraft III Frozen throne? I think he's some kind of ghost with an optional quest in your second NE mission. Other then that, I like the idea of orcish characters. I'll also prolly meet up w/ u guys in my next post...
EDIT: I'm almost positive he is a random guy in WCIIIXP, because there's a server named after him.
I would like top kill them! i was really counting on this to get rid of my Infernal, have him chase a troll off through the forest. If not, then im sure i can keep ahold of him till such time as he gets killed off, or summink.
Also, i wanna Orc Warrior! Oh please let me have an Orc Warrior? i wannit i wannit i wannit.

(to Cheetoaddict):
You are absolutely right, I 'stole' his name from the warlock Drak'Thul (from the Broken Isles), but hey: there are people with the same name around the world, just because the choice for names is rather finite, in all cultures.
(to Nork):
OK, I will write now the post of the meeting event. You can have the control of Gash'Nag, if you want (apart from the introductory scene) Yet be warned: they will not stay with our group long, possibly only until we find our way out of the cursed forest....

Unfortunatly I'm not getting neerly as long to post as I want to so for now feel free to carry this on without me.
To set some kind of structure, start noticing that the enemies that attack are somewhat "dreamlike" and that they seem to act unusually to how they normally do, forcing you to attack without any other option.
When people do realise, have someone see some kind of structure to whats happening and follow it to the creature that has them trapped. The creature will be anything, a person, a thing, a tree even. Find it somehow then you have to attack it.
Would it be alright to have my Fel Hunter, break us out? he could absorbe the 'magical essence' within the wood (mana drain). It would take awhile, due to the size of the illusion created. But in the meantime, we could stumble upn some more things that would give us clues as to what is happening and just as all seems lost. It could all fade away, or we could 'wake up' as my Fel Hunter finds the creature and casts spell lock and stuff. Meaning we would still have to find it and kill it.
Also, i would like to point out that Gash'Nag, has gone nuts, hence the muttering, he will probably end up like Oscald, only, less co-oprative.

Please, do not dispel the illusion - yet... Instead, make more encounters happen, to make sure - there is no logic in the creatures appearing, save, that they are "pulled out of our minds". That means, if your character, say, is especially afraid of green oozlings, there is 100% chance, that the next thing, he will encounter, and fight with, will be a heap of evil little green oozlings... This is just like a "Thriller", when someone can read your thoughts, and make your most horrid fears into a reality.
As for the next encounter, I would suggest Satyrs. Elythriande is especially afraid of this misbegotten race, starting from childhood tales... On the other hand, their appearence would make the least sense here... and make all the others realize: we are in no ordinary forest....
Feel free to suggest, and add your own characters' most feared nightmares as well. Think of something, that is no "great world boss", yet is still fearsome in some irrational way for your character...

If you read carefully, you can see that i was not suggesting we end it now, but a possible way of ending it in the future.
