I'm too low.

The reason I'm asking is on my server I rarely see Alterac Valley runs going on.

"/who Alterac Valley" comes up with noone doing it, yet WSG and AB are usually running.

Ive done it a few times, and it is definitely intensive, but in order to survive youre really gotta be 60. Im not 60 yet. And besides, everyone heads over to AB now anyway. AV is fun, but it can get old. The battles all take place on the one road; AB is nicer, as you get a change of scenery every now and then.

I don't play AV that often because the matches can last for hours and hours and hours and hours and hours. AB games are quick, you get better honor, and the games last max of 30 minutes. I usually don't do AV unless its a holiday and everyone is in it. It's been a long process on the road to getting exalted.

Was real fed up with it on my rogue when exalted, and it was the only BG people played.. Arathi Basin was a blessing when it came.

However I do like it, and can't wait to try it out and grind up another char/class to exalted in it. =)

Min lvl for AV is 51. The brackets have been changed for both the other BGs to 10-19, 20-29 etc instead of 21-30, 30-40. Doesnt this give AV two brackets of, one 51-59 and one for 60s only? The major problems with AV before was all the lowlevels.. If they still use the old model for AV, yeah, you pretty damned well need to be 60.

Got my Warrior to Exalted and got the TUF, Don Julio's, and epic trinket (really nice for tanking BTW).

Now I'm almost to Honored with my Warlock. Since I'm only doing it for the awesome off-hand, there's no real rush and just plan on playing on Holidays with my lock.

I've never even tried to go to AV. I have occasional lag problems in WG, worse in AB near the Blacksmith Shop. I was also lagged the hell out in Scholo until the number of mobs was reduced. So a 40 vs. 40 fight sounds unplayable to me. Heck, 20 vs. 20 at XR is pretty bad.

Personally why I dont like it:

1. It laggs, and then a rogue comes behind and owns me (Im a mage here)
2. Alliance never wins, and on my server probably claims to be the worst alliance side of all time
3. Little honor you get from kills, rather do AB where I get avg. +100 honor per kill.
4. AFKers (around 2-3 each AV)

But we never get further than Stormthingy Graveyard. After that it is usually getting pushed back all the way to Frostwolf Keep.

I remember that AV, though i only stayed the first 2 hours You guys usually get to stonehearth and then it gets boring because you zerged it and its just you push, we push, you push, we push and then its an annoying stand off until someone makes a distraction which is either a stealth team or you all zerg that lady in the keep. Though next time i see you in AB Nerghul im going for you. :innocent:

i dont do it as much as i'd like to (time constraints) but i much prefer it to ab. AV kinda feels like a real battle, where as ab seems like something copied from a FPS game. On my server horde wins ab and alliance wins av (from what i've seen)

Yet to try AV, but am sure it won't be long till I go visit the place.

Just been too busy grinding up levels and rep w/ furbags rather than AV Rep + HK farming :)

Actually I think it would be more effective if they make a temporary TS/Ventrilo server, and make everyone in that current AV/AB join it, and then instead of typing you can talk into your mic and tell everyone tactics etc. oh and people should be able to vote out AFKers. :P

On my server, it is the only battleground option if you are in your 50s. Which is terrible because if you are not 60, it is really difficult.


So I am finishing the grind to 60 (1/2 way through 58) so I can get into some ABs again.

where as ab seems like something copied from a FPS game.

That is, because it essentially is. Try the Unreal Tournament series and in particular the: Assault games.

WSG is a Capture the Flag type of game, equally found in fps.

Only AV is a tad more like the rest of WoW, with a bit of Battlefield series or America's Army tossed in for good measure.

Av is skillless nonsense. But its done anyway to get the rewards...

AB and WSG to some extent take some tactics to win. AV is just a zergfest. Who has more damage ect.

It CERTAINLY is a zergfest, but that's only part of it.

skilled teams and tactics make you win, and win more and quicker. (all the while the zergfest still continues of course, but besides that there are a lot of nice things you can do)


I love it and I hate it. I need only 6,000 rep for full exalted. I cannot believe somebody would actually do this again for a second character

WSG weekend atm..so nobody in AB but AV was up. It does require skill..not really in fighting in the mass 20 on 20 battle at Field of strife, but the coordination and the willingness to cooperate is certainly something that I don't have the nerve for. (at least not for more than 2 hours)

I agree that it can be fun but maybe i just think that because horde on my server cant win anything else. the nice thing is that no one seems too overpoered in AV (except maybe hunters) whereas in WSG Travel form druid + psychic scream priest + Blessing of freedom paladin = win.

AV if anything requires strategy, tatics are for smaller forms of battle.

I love AV, but on my server its a rarity due to the population imbalance, the Horde being honor farmers, and this one glitch that made the bosses impossible to kill, leading to an AV match that supposivly lasted 4 days. Its a reputation fest, in one match I had friendly half full:xmas21:

AV.. I hate AV, but yet I play AV for rep and honor, mostly rep. Why do I hate AV, because it's so damned obvious horde biased. Blizzard fix that damn bunker jump already will ya, I don't care that Horde sucks monkey balls on other servers and that you have to make it easy for them, I would like to win an AV more than once every 100AV's.. at midnight.. during a school/work week!
