View Full Version : Where does Alliance go to gank lowbies?

I play Alliance, and while I was leveling up I was routinely killed by ?? players while questing in Duskwood, Ashenvale, Wetlands, Redridge, and of course STV.
The worst places were Astranaar in Ashenvale and anywhere on the road in Duskwood. Also, every once in a while a few hordies would stand on the docks in Menethil Harbor and cause trouble.
Well now I'm high enough to return the favor - but I don't know what the good places are as Alliance.
Sure we could argue all day about whether or not it's nice to do this blah blah blah, but I look at it like hazing. It sucks to be hazed, but who gets hazed and then passes up the chance when it's their turn to do the hazing? I don't plan on killing the same person repeatedly, I just plan on killing everyone until they call their 60 friends or get on their alt. It's not like that won't be fun either.
...you know, you really aren't helping the "everyone who ganks is too stupid to tie their own shoes" thing, Steam, but since you evidently could not be bothered to check the maps...
Which zones have you never been to?
What zones border them?
Which of those zones wouldn't be too high level for the new ones?
Hint: the three answers are Ashenvale, 1k needles, and Hillsbrad. Of course, going to Ashenvale means you might run into your counterparts on the other side of the fence, and god forbid challenge come into it... you'll want to stay in the Needles area of Thousand Needles, because horde from Tanaris could come to the rescue, and of course there are occasionally bored 60s hanging around in the Alterac Mountains and thus Tarren Mill...
May your e-peen be amplified by this enterprise, Steamy.

Ganking is fun. No durability loss. There are Ganking ethics you know. Getting ganked isn't so bad either. As long as the Ganker is following the below rules. I got my 56 butt ganked all the way to SM last night. I got hit by the same warrior and his 36 hunter buddy six times. I would res and run a little farther and get dropped. I didn't even fight back, they were so hung up on me the group I was helping slipped right by. Took me a little longer than I wanted, but no biggie. I got the hunters pet later for payback.
Don't Corspe camp.
Don't do heavy damage and let the MOB they are fighting finish them off so they take a Dura loss.
However if you see a lowbie trying to escape some MOBs and is sure to die, go ahead and finish his butt off. He is dead either way, at least he won't take a dura loss this way.
Don't Gank when they are trying to take down a quest MOB.
NEVER EVER Gank when they are fighting a elite. Give them a hand if anything.
Don't gank if you know its a long corpse run.
Don't camp NPC areas such as Nessingway <SP?> in STV.
Don't gank someone when they are weak from a duel.
Ganking is all about messing with the lowbies and having a good time. They may even get a laugh out of it. There is a thin line between ganking and griefing though.
When I feel bad for a potential gank victim I help them out. Mind control and buff them or heal them as well as cure disease or dispell magic. Then sometimes gank them after all that for my own ammusement. The MC cast and MB cast are the same, just very different results.
I spread about as much chear with my buffing horde as I spread hate by ganking. IF you see Kaaskop coming at you on a mount the worse thing to do is run, I like chasing things. I also like to dispell travel formed druids. Keep in mind that these lowbies also will gank your higher level butt if they get the chance. O yea I also gank any hunter pets I see. I will leave the hunter alone, but the pet must die. I hope they take a happiness loss too.

i have only been playing a very short time, but i promise you there are no ethics in ganking, because the first time you're nice to someone your gonna get the beat down by him and his friends 10 min later. i'll kill any chance i get.
had a mage corpse camping me and he even had the nerve to exp while standing next to my corpse..i waited for the mob to get him low on health then clicked rezed and got revenge. ethics? forget that.

Jeez - lighten up, chief.
Maybe I should have rolled RP-PVP, cause I hate hordies ok? Every single player on my server made the choice to be in a PVP environment.
This isn't about my e-peen, it's about making it a little harder for my enemy to become stronger.

Screw that. Ganking 4 L.
ahem, sorry.
Yeah so you should really focus on the people that ganked you. Write their names down or something... because eventually you'll be the same level and you can exact sweet revenge.

Now that I got no issue with.. You reap what you sow afterall.. And some folks have the unfortunate tendency to sow a lot whilst on their path to 60..

I like to cruse Felwood and gank the lvl 50s there. I pick up some felcloth and whipper roots too which is nice. It's fun because they sometimes think they have a chance 2 or 3 v 1. Then I take those hopes and crush them with 3x the corpse runs.
And when I lvl an alt, my main is always in the same zone just in case I get ganked.

Sure Ganking can be fun. But then again, it got trivial after a while.
Anyways, I always got ganked by Skar who as an infamous UD rogue in STV. He got a bad reputaion and was ganked regularly. He even sold his account, and now some one else has to deal with his reputation. Ganking can get to be pretty ugly buisness.

Hillsbrad.
And remember, NE is better for ganking than ANY OTHER RACE, so i hope you picked ne hunter (shadowmeld and stealth pet, aimed shot).
For best results, camp the corpse and have a friend camp the graveyard in case they spirit res.
Lastly, remember to always kill pets of hunters and locks first as it costs them something (time and possibly money) to get them back.
Another thing to do is to find a hunter and follow him around, whenever he tries to kill a mob kill his pet.
If you do any of these things... I dont know what to say about you.

On PvP servers there are no rules . . .
You may think there are, but once you hit STV and find yourself being ganked every 5 minutes, you realize that the only good Horde is a dead Horde.
The only rule on PvP servers: If it's RED it's DEAD.

Maybe. The other day I learnt how to use my seduce manually for my succy. So I decided to play. Found an ally on the beach who was busy killing something or other. Probaly trying to complete a quest in peace and quiet. Poory guy. Anyway. I sneak up behind him whilst he is busy and seduce him. Pop off a shadow bolt and chuckle. Immeadiately afterwards I reseduce him and charge up another shadow bolt and reseduce again. (Don't know how many times in a row you can do this or if this is infinite but I was having fun.)
Then I see his emote. He chuckles at me. I immeadiatly cancel my seduce and shadow bolt /salute in respect and wonder off to do something else. If the guy can have a sense of humour whilst getting his pixels destroyed I can give him respect and leave him alone. Probaly gonna find me again later when he is stronger and then he will pay. If they openly surrender I see no point in killing them. No end times have allies jumped me and are marked either :xmas19: or ?? and I just sit down. And wait for them to get it over with. Worse comes to the worse I have to spirit rez and HS to a safer place. After a severe ganking session I usually take a time out and work on levelling my tailoring for a bit before I go back out in to the war.
See! I'm a nice horde warlock! When the going gets tough I go do some needle work!

Ah yes, Ganking. Tis the bain of PvP.
My hunter has once again landed in STV, and in one afternoon, 13 kills, 5 deaths. Typical.
My kills all came defending myself, deaths were all at Nessingwary, or along the beach there dependant on how far I ran.
I dont gank, I NEVER attack unless threatened or attacked.
I always wave at the start, and then react according to their reaction.
High levels love killing me for some reason. None of them leave me alone, but thats fine, they obviously do no real PvP so I am a much more acceptible target. If I can help to make them feel big and enjoy WoW more, so be it.
I often help allies out with mobs if they are in trouble, if not I keep my distance.
A couple of interesting PvP encounters yesterday:
* I saw a warlcok fighting a mob, she was pretty injured when it went down, but I had already waved and not advanced or sent Mongo in for the kill. But all of a sudden I am hit by two wand blasts. ***** I think to myself (Mongo has already attacked), but I take two steps back, call Mongo off and wait.
It was a misunderstanding apparently, and we go our seperate ways.
* I see a priest at Nessingwary, presumably handing in. He is 35 I am 33, so I am not overly worried. I walk straight up and hand in, he runs off. I head off down the beach, knowing what comes next. Rushed by 41 warrior, and priest mind blasts me. I have his name now, and I also have alliance buddies (I am horde). When I am in the mood, I will find him, and kill him until he remembers who I am.
No rules in PvP. if you try and play nice like me, you may be ok for about 10 minutes but dont count on it in STV. It literally is a jungle out there, Dog eat Dog and all that business. I hate being ganked, but its part of the game and I know I will annoy noobs when I can.
of all the abilities hunters have, track humanoids is the greatest. If I see a player, I try and whisper to them. If I cant - your ally and I run. Towards you or away from you will depend on my mood :xmas6: \ :xmas19:
If you want to gank low horde, go to Sunrock retreat in Stonetalon mountains, and visit the Charred Vale.
All this depends on your level. If you are high 40's, desolace is also decent for you. I know because I have allies and hordies.
Have fun everyone, enjoy your holidays, and dont gank too much

I was on the other end of one of those encounters the other day. I'm grinding and an undead priest 5 levels above me throws a couple dots on my mob as he passes by. After the mob dies I try to select him so I can emote my thanks, but I accidentally start attacking him with my staff. Well he started attacking me with his staff, so my pet attacked him and it took me a sec to cancel my attack and my pet attack. He started stacking dots on me and I immediately sat down and /sorry. Then he stopped and we both had a laugh.

New PvP server, new character in STV today. Up until now I haven't ganked gray opponents, I've tried to get fair fights versus my own level, let them drink and eat up etc.
Things I will do tomorow: Get a PvP mod to keep track of who killed me. Gank every gray that comes by and corpsecamp him till he logs off. Kill everyone, mob or no mob. Red = Dead.
I'm 32. I run from Nessingwarys to Booty Bay. On this trip I run into 20 Horde. 15 of these Hordes are 40+ who killed me. 5 of them near my level that attacked me. Got their asses whooped all of them, naturally. But still. A whole day in STV, I have not run into one single Horde that did not attack on sight. STV is where you forget everything about morale.
So what's my take on this? I'm quite fine with it actually. Got a few lovely kills myself, and what would STV be like without the PvP? Awfully boring. I'm just longing to get revenge. When I hit 60, first thing I'm gonna do is go to STV and gank everything I see. Theres always 60s there ganking lowbies, so I'll get some nice 60v60 action. In fact, theres more 60s than lowbies in STV.
If you want the PvP mentality, here is an example: Run into mounted UD rogue in Elwynn, I'm not flagged. He dismounts and challanges me to a duel. "fun" I think, should be cool to see how long I can kite him. We duel, he ignores me and kills my pet. This guy didn't just want to beat an inferior opponent. He wanted to torment me.
Theres no rules in PvP and that is the only rule you should abide by. Don't punch him in the face, kick him in the nuts it'll hurt more.

I play Horde (UD Warrior) on a PvP server too. I see the PvP encounters as the "salt and pepper" of this type of servers, I love playing on a PvP server because you don't know when or what will strike you.
I do have my personal "ganking" ethics. I never start up a fight against a gray player, not even green ones. Yellow are the ones I like to fight with, and definetly if it's red, is dead (of course I wait until they are fully healed, I like even fights). Orange, well depends on the mood and what I am doing at the moment, if I'm on a quest I evade the fight, but If I'm on my way back to town or with nothing to do, sure I'll give it a try.
Unfortunately, there are some cases in which I "break" my ganking code. For example, last time I was in Desolace killing Centaurs, and I saw a lvl 32 warlock, I was 36, so she showed green to me. I totally ignored her. I went down the cave and while I was fighting 2 mobs, I suddenly got some nasty spells on me, and there she was, up there in the hill casting some nasty bolts and curses on my undead butt. Of course I died. After that I hunt her down 3 times, and I didn't care if she was on combat, or with half health, I was mad because she took advantage on a situation, and now she had to pay for it.
Eventhough sometimes this situations makes me really mad, this is why I love the PvP servers. You never know what will happen today. Keeps you on your toes and stuff.
Corpse camping a gray player, or being corpse camped by a ??... That's another story... depends on the psychological traumas of each player :xmas24:
