View Full Version : Waiting time for BG's
How long do you normally have to wait until you get access to a battleground?
I have tried both AB and WSG over the past couple of nights and have waited in the queue for more than 2 hours before i just gave up.
Is this normal?

Depends on the time of day. early evening 5-30min wait for WSG. dont know about AB or AV as ive got a game on WSG before ive got to top of the list for these so i leave the queue. quieter times the wait times can be considerably more. Once waited 2 1/2 hrs for WSG but it was about 2am.

My server just has level 60s and that's just about it. It's completely saturated with MC/BWL gear (1 guild has taken nefarian) vs. green/ubrs geared. Unfortunately I play alliance, and the people that PvP are using greens/ubrs gear, vs. epic geared/PvP tier 1+ geared. So...
Around peak times I have seen 8+ AB's on at a time + 1 AV. Time for AV is around 5 mins + because of deserter no one leaves, and AB is under a minute.
0-10 minutes Horde side
30-60 minutes Alliance side.
The long wait is annoying but Alliance needs less honor to rise in rank....

...Alliance needs less honor to rise in rank....
What makes you say that? Must just be on your server, since rise in rank is dictated by server population.
I knew you'd ask that :)
here is why:
I am on Horde side - rank 8, 60% up towards rank 9. 95 000 honor later I rose 30% to 90% in rank 8.
My friend is Alliance - rank 9, 60% up towards rank 10. 94 000 honor later he rose 50% up to rank 10 and in there 10% towards rank 11.
I was 88th on my side
He was 36th on his side.
Alliance/Horde ratio is 3:1 but we get in more often to AB...so we apparently need more honor. And last week was such a freaky coincidence in rank and honor that I could claim this.

For Alliance, yes.
The longest I have waited for Warsong Gulch is 3 hours. Its at 20-40 minutes during the day, but that's because the hordies availible are epic equipped honor farmers.
Arathi Basin is at least an hour wait. 2-3 hours if its a friday.
Arterac Valley is at least a 3 hour wait. The longest I have been in que for that paticular event was for 7 and a half hours.
What is depressing is that the Horde has such a short que time, that they get far more play time. This factor's into why the horde does so well in BG. Granted, there are some certain people that are real good and PvP, I myself am a rising player who has already made a few enemies on the opposing side, but it puts you in a bad mood on a late night. when all you can get are pugs.

My best is probably 3 hours, and after then i had to get off WoW, so the wait was pointless.

Im Horde, it's usually about 10 minutes unless WSG is up, then WSG is about 10 minutes.

Um, that's EVERYONE. You see it less on the lower brackets, but on Silver Hand, all the horde says they hate playing level 60 WSG because of the all-epic equipped alliance. It's such a change from the usual thrashing we give them in the lower brackets.

The wait doesn't bug me so much as the imbalance...after an hour waiting to get into Arathi, getting our rears handed to us by the horde, who had four more people than us was just a slap in the face.
They really shouldn't allow another side to START with more people than the other. If someone drops and there's no one to take their place, tough, but started with a four man disadvantage is just sickening.
