Hi,

I seem to have a problem after upgrading: The uploader cannot find a data file. I can find a datafile, in the WTF/.../savedvariables directory, but trying to upload that with "Upload special" gives another error (something like Index out-of-bounds [0]). I have tried to rename the data file and create a new, but the problem keeps coming back. What to do?

best regards

decided to check out the client and stuff...

Get the same problem as mentioned above with the current version available for download after selecting to upload now.

List index out of bounds (0)

Hi,

Did you try simply restarting our Client ? I have had reports of some users who had the List Index out of Bounds problem, but it seemed to vanish once they had restarted our upload client.

Hi,

Did you check our Client's Options screen to see if you WoW Install Patch is set correctly ? If it isn't entered correctly in the Option screen the client won't be able to find your Data Files.

Have tried both - no success. There is a file "wownetexport.lua" in the right directory, and the file gets updated every time I run WoW, but the client can't find it by itself, and when I point at it in "Upload file special" it returns the "List index out of bounds [0]" error box :(

I have been having a similar problem for 3-4 days. Whenever I tried uploading got an error saying no data files were found and I should run WoW.

I have resterated client and even tried re-booting PC.

Today I played 2 old characters and a newly created one. The new one could be uploaded but the old ones were not found.

The BDY Parser error is caused because our Uploader found an error in your Data File. Probably it is missing some information which should have been there, or found some information which shouldn't have been there. Only advice I can give here is to clear your Data File ( delete it ), try again, or wait till a next version which might have solved that.

The No Data File problem is a strange one. It seems to affect quite some users, but I tried to install our client on 13 different machines here and none had the issue, so I have been unable to simulate it yet. Only thing I can suggest is to check the Options of our Client if you set the WoW Install Path correctly ( If you didn't do it and restart our client ) and try again. You can always use the Upload File Special feature to personally select the file which you want to upload.

This Parser error I was able to generate when trying to Upload File Special with a target file named
C:\Programmer\World of Warcraft\Interface\addons\wownetexport\wownetexport.lua (dated 05.01.06 16:00). A Parser Error mail screen pops up, but trying to send the mail gains a message
”Socket error # 10061 Connection refused”.

That is not the current .lua file though - most current .lua file is
C:\Programmer\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<MyAccountName>\SavedVariables\wownetexport.lua (dated 23.01.06 08:47)
Using this file as target generates no parser error, instead I get the "List index out of bounds [0]" message box, both using Upload Now and Upload File Special

I have restarted WoW dozens of times since this problem started appearing; I have restarted the client, reinstalled the client and rebooted the computer several times, but the problem persists. I would like to send the current .lua file, but I don't know the proper mail address to send it to. I have tried appending it to this message as plain text in the mail.

The message "The client was unable to find any data files ..." was due to the fact that Windows is a Danish language version, where the standard Program Files directory is renamed "Programmer" - I had overlooked that in the options screen earlier, and earlier versions of the client showed no sensitivity to this (was able to find hte correct directory by itself). This version of the client apparently has "forgotten" that ability. WoW Install directory is now listed in the Options screen as
C:\Programmer\World of Warcraft\
and the client has no problem finding the data file anymore. That at least is a step forward :-)

I can't stress this enough, but when using Upload File special, you should be selecting the correct file. The file mentioned above is the Source code of the Actual WoW AddOn. Of course this generates a parser error, since it doesn't contain the Data we need. The File you should be taking is :

C:\Programmer\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<MyAccountName>\SavedVariable s\wownetexport.lua

So if your second try, you did actually select the Correct file. Remains the issue of the List Index out of bounds. Many users reported that this error solved itselves once they set up the Options correctly and then restarted our Upload Client.

Today I played 2 old characters and a newly created one. The new one could be uploaded but the old ones were not found.

I have managed to fix this. When I went into the addons section from the character select screen, the interface had a silver tick instead of the usual gold one. The mouse-over message said that the interface had been disabled for some characters.

I cleared the box the re-ticked it and now all is fine. I have no idea how it got partially disabled (or I'm guessing more accuratly disabled for all existing characters then re-enabled for a new one)

Hi,

This could be bacause the 1.8 version of our AddOn was still running while you already had version 1.9 of WoW. This might cause our AddOn to get Disabled because it's version was out of date. After updating our AddOn and creating a new char it might have been set to enabled again for that char, while leaving it disable for your other chars.

Of course, I'm purely speculating here.
