Welcome to the new RP of Severance. This is a none WoW related RP that anyone is welcome to join.
Minor rules. All posts must be a minimum of three paragraphs in length. Be descriptive. How does your character feel? What can he see? Smell? What are his goals? Descriptive.
Secondly no characters in this RP are incredibly powerful. Its possible that someone could fight and kill a guard. Perhaps even two guards. But if he faces several then he has no hope of defeating them all. Even untrained someone can get a lucky blow in somewhere, so think of other options but hacking your way through everyone.
Now the world itself:
World: Ponterra
Ponterra is the native name for the land. Steming from roling hills and gentle mountains to the far east, it opens as a flat plain towards the western sea. Mostly covered in fields for grazing and heavy forests in the west and south west, Ponterra is an easy terrain to cover unlike the vastly rocky and mountanus terrain to the far north.
Two major cities sit on the landscape, one more central and to the north known as Vianas, after the founder Glian Vianas guild master of the traders. This city is a hub for traders, farmers and the general populus of Ponterra. Mostly wide spaces for markets and stalls, the city proper is filled with high rise buildings cast from stone brought in from the north, stones both strong and smooth and with a finish like marble when polished. The city itself is known as the City of Noon, called so by its central possition in Ponterra and the monumental sundial which sits in its very centre. When the sun is directly overhead, light shines down a passage in the sundial, illuminating the entire temple proper which sits beneath and noonday prayer is begun.
To the east sits the city of Tarrus. The city is the official capital of Ponterra and mecha of religious belief in the known lands. It sits on the coast, its high stone walls carved with elaborate detail of its diety Rianark. Its cities are similarly fraught with luxury, elaborate carvings in city plazas, frequent festivals of light held for Rianark and the temple itself. The holy ground and governmental building for all Ponterra, the House of Rianark. In these marbled and gold trimmed halls, in its carpeted rooms and behind its tapestried walls, the religious leaders congregate to run all of Ponterra under its zealus rule.
Small towns dot the landscape here and there and wayhouses are common finds on the long roads between offstead farms, quarries or smithys, villages, towns and similar. Its on these long oxtrod roads that bandit and Lythus raids have become common.
To the west are the terratories of the Lythus, a population of close nit pack groups. The Lythus are not run by any central government, instead living as their ancestors did thousands of years past, governed by their pack leader and banding together. They have no true villages or homes, being migrational by nature, and claim the great forrests as their own. Recently tensions between the Lythus and the Religious government of Ponterra have reached a high, casting an unsetling shadow over the known lands. Many recent raids have been blaimed on the Lythus.
World Mechanics:
Weapons take the medieval fantasy form. Obvious weapons such as Swords, Spears, Bows and Arrows are all fine. However, magic here and technology differ.
Mages can not cast "spells" or hurl fireballs at the nearest enemys. Magic here takes on a subtle form and mages are known as "Weavers". A Weaver learns from childhood how to weave life magic out of the world around him, drawing it into shape in order for it to be usable. Weavers can accomplish many tasks in a short time and can turn the tide of battles or wars, but in different ways.
Say a Weaver is part of an army, and the army comes across a gorge with no bridge. A Weaver could weave energys to form a path across the gorge, one of solid energy, that the army could use to traverse. A Weaver could weave protective enchantments that help knock aside a blade yet NOT make the armor impenetrable. A Weaver could weave a great cloak over an area so as to make that area seem empty, yet he could not make something disapear truely. A weaver is patient, and weaving can take alot of time. Its not a job for the brash but, when used carefully, can be a deadly and powerful art. Weavers are few and far between, coming mainly from across the great sea from the lands beyond.
Ships and the like are seldom used. The religious orders have deemed travel on the water to be heretic to the firey sun god of Rianark. Ships that travel the waves are seldom used and seldom seen. However, sky ships which travel the sky are more common. Bastions of rich merchants or the mighty warships of the Rianark order are occasionally seen in the skys. The skyships are essentially seplins, two massive balloons suspend a construction not altogether unsimilar in appearance to a trimaran. Large propellers on each of the three hulls push the skyship through the air. They are still rare however, and the foreign lands are still largely unexplored.
Technology is the mainstray of the Order, scientists are forever pursuing new designs in the name of Rianark. Technology is smiled on by the order due to the properties of most of its sciences being explosive in nature, and with the new discovery of tech-weaving where weave spells are bound in a specially built device, the order has grown ever stronger. Technology is limited at the moment to gears and pullys, mostly manually pulled or pushed. Such technology is for gateways or machines within buildings, watches and electricity, internal combustion engines and so on are unheard of. The propelers on the Skyships and turned manually by a team of horses inside each engine room.
However a couple of tech-weave weapons have been stolen and are now in circulation, more through rumor than material. A tech-weave weapon known as a "Rianark sun staff" has come to be known and feared. It uses a weave spell which is ignited when a trigger is pulled, causing a large ball of energy to fire from the end of the staff. Its not known that anyone is in possetion of such a weapon though.

Lythus:
The Lythus are a wolf like race. They stand like men, though almost twice as broad with slightly hunched shoulders. Their appearance differs little from their more beatial brethren, with Wolf like heads and fur covering their bodies. Their hands are not as fully developed as a humans and as such few Lythus bother with the small intricate tools of humans. They have, however, a deft hand for Weaving and have become skilled artisans with the smithing hammer.
When running or hunting a Lythus will often drop back to all fours and run more like a wolf, giving a howl of pursuit. Their own language is almost elagent, combined with snarls and occasional yaps, though most if not all Lythans have come to learn the "common" tongue. Some Lythans, particularly the Priests who are the spokesman for the pack, have an excellent grasp of Human language and can sometimes be better spoken than some merchants.
Lythans will arm themselves only with Wraith Claws, a weapon Lythans have used for generations. Claws fit over the larger, bulkier fingers of a Lythus and are essentially elongated daggers in a claw like construction. As Lythus' hands arn't as delicate as a humans, they can't easily use swords or bows and arrows. Its rare to find a Lythus hunting without a claw. In addition to these deadly implements, a Lythan hunter is never above using his teeth to rip and tear the throat of an attacker. Lythans utilise the full power of their large bodies and are usually stronger and bulkier than humans.
Lythans are heavily pack creatures, each comunity close nit and familial. A lone Lythan is looked down upon by a pack and few choose to leave the family pack. The pack leader will often make the decision to "settle" the pack in an area or "roam" and will always lead the hunt. The elders of the pack are often treated with a marked respect and asked for their advice, however even elderly Lythans must work and earn their keep or are left behind when the pack next roams. Only banished Lythans roam alone, or "Rogues" who choose a lonely existence. A lone Lythus is barely considered as more than criminals by packs and Humans alike.
The Lythus commonly pray to and worship the godess Oscilus, godess of the moon and hunt. This has alienated them from the Order who find their praise of the moon rather than the sun a great insult and heretical in nature. All attempts to convert Lythus have been unsuccessful.
Lythan Classes: The Lythus, like humans, dont have any specific classes like "thief" or "fighter". Instead all Lythans are simply skilled in whatever the pursue. However, two main classes do exist amongst the others and are looked up on by a pack.
Lythan Hunters: The Hunters are the backbone of the Lythan pack and given respect, as well as first meal, by the other Lythans. Hunters are the larger, faster and physically able Lythans, being either male or female. The Hunters are always lead by the pack leader.
A Hunter is essentially the hunter/gatherer of the Lythan pack. Lythans, being almost exclusively carnivorous and unable to raise their own livestock as all livestock instinctively fear them, rely on the hunters to bring back food and provisions for the main pack while the rest of the Lythans go about their duty of cooking, smithing and so on.
Hunters only ever hunt with Wraith Claws and their own fangs. Formidably trained with these weapons and aided by a Lythans size and speed, a Hunter is formidable enough. However in addition to these skills all Hunters are taught and skilled at moving silently through both the planes and forests, little more than a whisper on the wind. Their fur is grey and brown by nature and aids in blending them with the forest shadows, making kills both quick and silent. Few know they are being hunter by a pack until a killing blow is delt.
Hunters only ever travel by night, a trait passed down through generations since their early beginings, and rarely leave the forests except to trade with outlying Human settlements. In times past it wasn't uncommon for a hunter pack, lead by an Oscilus Priest, to travel to the traders city of Vianus. However recently tensions between the order and the Lythans have risen, making such ventures a thing of the past.
Lythan Priests: The Lythus commonly pray to the Godess Oscilus. Oscilus has ever been the patron diety of most if not all Lythan packs, and is the Godess of both the moon and the hunt.
Priests of Oscilus guide the pack with the guiding light of Oscilus, leading them to lucrative hunting grounds and the best breeding grounds. They guide the pack both morally and spiritually in co-operation with pack leaders, though at times it has been known for Lythan priests and Pack leaders to fight over disagreements.
The Lythus, being mainly nocturnal by nature, have always looked to the moon for guidance. Hunts are always comenced at full moon, with the blessing of the Priest to aid the hunt. Priests are also Weavers by nature, though Oscilus Priests are not limited to "spells" as the priests of the order are. Priests are often inventive and use their initiative when Weaving and its rare for Priests of different packs to use similar spells.
Priests are usually the spokesperson for a Lythan pack with Humans. They lead trades and Human interactions, though in recent times its become unusual to see Lythans away from the confines of the western forests.
Some Lythans, like some the Order, see the believers of Rianark as heretics and sacriligeous to Oscilus. However in general it is accepted that Rianark is proof of the balance of nature and is the polar balance of Oscilus. Many see Rianark as proof of Oscilus' existence and that one may not exist without the other. Prejudices are not unheard of, but are not as widespread.
Lythan Clothing: Lythans are, much like wolves, covered in fur and do not require clothing in general for warmth. However, Lythans often cover themselves in light clothing of dark colors for modesty or preference.
Hunters have no specific armor or uniform and each hunter will wear whatever armor he creates and suits him best. This can range from leathers and studded leathers to breastplates and chainmale. However, Lythan's never wear boots or shoes and will never cover themselves completely since they hunt with speed and stealth. Lythans dress lightly to keep manovurability.
Priests will usually wear light robes or cloaks, though never ornate. Some priests have been said to wear a dress entirely made of owls feathers, or to not where anything at all. Priests, like hunters, can be either gender.

Order of Rianark:
The Order of Rianark are the central government and religious leaders of Ponterra, having control of all the lands east of the western Lythus forests.
Rianark is god of the sun, the bringer of noonday and life and has been celebrated by Humans in Ponterra almost as long as Oscilus by the Lythans. Rianark is said to bring life to the planet and to guard over all the land during the day. He was once seen as a more natural force, though in recent years his image has been changed to one of a vengeful force.
The Order rule Ponterra and are its central government, appointed from within by ministers and high priests and decree the laws of the land. They lead Ponterra with a moral state.
Heresy and believers in Oscilus are seen as blasphemus by the Rianark Order and are delt with cruely by the Inquisition. The Order does alot of good work, however, and has increased sanitation, health and the quality of life for most citizens of Ponterra. Crimes have been reduced due to the Order Guard, known as the Hammers, routinely patroling Tarrus city, as well as patrols across all Ponterra. The order are highly against the Guilds, seeing them as greedy men only lusting for power.
Order Classes: The Order have many positions of apprentiship, general traders and so on, however only a few are ranked as true "classes" and looked up on by other Order members.
Rianark Priest: The Priests of Rianark, much like those of Oscilus, are spokespersons for the Ponterra government. Being the leaders of the government, both morally and politically, Priests are given much respect by most citizens.
Some Priests are zealus, looking to destroy all heretics or blasphemus entities against Rianark, an unfortunate sense of prejudism which is begining to slowly develop within the ranks. Though the goals of Rianark are much the same, some of the charity and mercy with which Rianark was once atributed has been lost.
However in general Priests of Rianark, particularly those ourside of Tarrus, still uphold the values of life Rianark originally stood for. Rianark is the Deity of light and life, and his values were once to uphold life above all things.
Priests of Rianark are Weavers, having been trained and taught since youth to wield the power of Rianark. The Priest order limits Weaving to certain acceptable "spells" that are seen as Rianark sent, and not blasphemus like the old Weaver order who once ruled Ponterra before the revelution and the Tower of Weavings a few centuries ago.
Priests of the order are also sometimes trained in the stealthy and deadly art of assasination, carrying out religious judgements on those deemed ungodly. Though never wielding heavy or field weapons, Priests have been known to carry daggers or stillettos. All priests of the Order are male.

Order Guard: The Order guard are the Iron behind the spiritual might of the Order. When power was wrested from the Weavers and the Order took over as the Governmental officials of Ponterra, the Order Guard were formed to uphold, protect and guard the new world and its citizens.
In recent times the Guard has become more the personal army of the Order and carrys out their orders exclusively. Wars and battles, policing of its peoples and the routing out of heretics and thief bands is the Guards domain.
Many Guards simply follow the orders of the Rianark Priests, with little questioning. However there are many who remember a better time for the Guard and how still try to uphold the moral values and protect the citizens from corruption.
The Guard all wear the Order uniforms. A Breastplate forged from steel, etched into the centre is a spiral done in gold. From a distance these Breastplates seem to shine like the very sun above. They wear chain-mail pants and helmets, trimmed with gold, and gauntlets studded on the knuckles. All Guard carry Rianark's Fist, a battle hammer with a gold shaft and a golden fist for its head. Because of this the Guard have come to be known as the "hammers".
Hammers can be male or female, though it is uncommon for females to be in the guard.
The Guilds: Finally the guilds. The Guilds are an integral part of Ponterra, founded and as old as most of the civilised world and far older than the Order, the Guilds are the bringers of trade and commerce.
There are Guilds covering most trades, skills and schools and are often well off. The Main three guilds consist of the following.
Traders Guild: The Traders guild are the richest of the Guilds, having a hand in all trades made in Ponterra. All established merchants must be Guild members and pay a fee every year for both the protection and aid of the Guild. The Guild helps merchants with bandit troubles, giving protection to those they deem needful and also regulate the trade, ensuring none have a monopoly on the market.
All Guild members must wear their Guild badge in a promenant position at all times.
Guards Guild: The Guild for Cival and Personal Protection, or Guards Guild, are general mercenarys for higher. Offering their services to nobility and the farmers alike, Guards are often found protecting the rich in their mansion homes, or at the door to a well established merchants once the Traders Guild deems them rich enough to fend for themselves. They do not adhere to any true moral code and come in all shapes and sizes, all highly trained with martial weapons.
A member of the Guard Guild must wear his Guild badge in a promenant position at all times.
Weavers Guild (since liquidated): The Weavers Guild and the Weaver Tower were once known as the hub of Ponterra, having even the Lythus accepting their authority. They ruled too harshly however, taking advantage purely for personal gain in most places and casting a bad name on the whole art of Weaving.
When the Weaver Tower was torn down, few members of this guild survived. Those that did began anew, teaching both the art and responsibility. Though few in number and secretive as the order frowns upon such practices, the Weavers have begun to make a shadowy name forthemselves amongst taverns and allys.
The only identification of a Weaver is a small open eye tatoo hidden somewhere on the Weavers body.

So, thats the world and all its rules. Now, the story.
Story:
The Bandit group known as "severance" are a promonent thieves party known for their efficient attacks on trade routes throughout Ponterra. Often said to be entirely composed of Weavers, the group often attacks suddenly with no warning, takes most valuables and then leaves as mysteriously as they appeared.
Searches for the bandit group have lead to dead ends and only rumors of members ever circulate.
In reality the bandits are Humans, mortal as any other. Their leader, a small man known only as "Little Rin", has informants throughout the trader routs and outposts, picking the most vulnerable merchants as targets. His men, though a mishmash of the unruly, have learned its valuable not to argue with Little Rin and to follow his lead. The prophits at the end far outway any concept of overthrowing his leadership.
What Little Rin does with his share of the riches is unknown. However the band rarely stay together, forming on the ever of a raid and disbanding to their own corners of Ponterra once its over. Little Rin's only known companions are two of the long running members. A Lythus, grey blue in color and a look of a constant grin on his face. This Lythus, unlike many of his race, is sociable and gruff, willing to trade drinks and old raid tales with the other members of the group. Though questions about his past are often cut short with a growl.
The other is the groups Weaver, a man the rest of the group see seldom of. He appears to each member at the eve of every raid to bring the group together, hides their attack and retreat then leaves. Never taking a share of the riches himself. The only one known to speak with the Weaver is Little Rin, though what passes between them is unknown.
The eve of another raid has come and this time the place is a halfway house on the roads near the western Lythan borders leading to Vianus. Weaver, as he has been dubbed by the rest of the group, has told of a considerably rich Traders Guild member who will be taking residence and is traveling these back roads in secrecy to avoid conflicts. It seems little misses Weavers ear.
In this setting, with the group assembled on a rise with the forest at their back and the clouds covering the plane in darkness, Little Rin and his men look down at the Halfway House, its laterns shining like stars in the night, the sounds of mens laughter and horses snorts filtering through the silence.
Well people, make up a Char profile and be ready. If you feel you want to add another, be a trader in the Halfway House, be a Guard, be anything you like please do. I'l try to fit you character into the storyline and inform you of how the story can come your way. As it is, you can also be nice and easy and take a character in Little Rin's group. I'l be controling Weaver and Little Rin, but anything you like you can throw in. Bear in mind that Severance is a rough, rag tag bunch of thieves. These dont seem to be overwhelmingly nice or moral people, no heroes ^^

hmm if I get this right.. our chars are supposed to be "normal" as in "will get slain if he tries to attack more then 1 or 2 normal guards".. so I cant be a weaver then as is sounds if they are powerfull...
Now I must do some thinking... but I wont be a part of your group from the beginning Grys, I like the lone dodes who dont have to take orders from other people...but anything can happen later, but not in the beginning..

Name: Niplin "Nip" Naolin
Loyalty: Guards Guild - with tendancies towards the moral Order Guard who remain virtuous.
Description: Nip is shorter than the average human height, and doesn't look a day over twenty-one years of age. He sees the world through his soft brown eyes as an idealistic opportunity to make a fortune at something, anything. His casual smile is always at the ready, preferring to take charm to gain his goals rather than combat. His hands are always ready to offer aid to someone needy, and pummel the unjust. Learning under the older guild members he's seen through the deception of most traders and some of the elder Rainark Order and has realized that despite the teachings and politics, life is simply what you make it.
Equipment: Emblem of the guards guild worn on a leather throng around his neck. It's weight beings it to the center of his sternum. Soft leather tunic and breaches. Knee high forester boots and a short leather jacket that cinches about his abdomen in a series of silver buckles. A simple brown sack accompanies him wherever he goes thrown over his neck and shoulder with a wide strap. In his pack are provisions for 3 days time, an outfit of tan linens (no other shoes. Prefers to go barefoot in the city or while being "liesurely"), and flint and tender. While relatively accomplished in all manner of weapons, he carries a stout walking staff two forearms higher than he is tall (about 7 foot - he's 5'4"ish)
Background: Niplin was born into a family in the Rianark Priests order. His father served a lifetime of "righteousness". He'd lived in a simple shelter and went about service to the higher statured members of the Priests order until he was old enough to become fully invested. When he met Niplins mother several of the Order snubbed their noses at him believing her family to be of the unlawful weavers. If they were, then she was an exception. It was hard for Niplin to remember if she valued his fathers beliefs and words most, or if she simply believed in her man.
Often during Niplin's youth he was with the orders guards who became more plentiful as his father gained status. His father's reputation as a righteous man brought members from all guilds looking to him for lawful edict and verdict on their issues. He guided his "people" and his family in the ways of goodness and morality.
As a benefit, he learned virtuous behavior and developed a sense of charm with the lawful men who went about orders with cheer. The guards taught him basic combat skills in the times they were off traveling, and honed his melee talents with hammer, "sword and board" and spears. He took to the spear naturally to make up for the height difference between him and most men. His life seemed carefree and easy.
Late into his teens his fathers reputation earned him too much attention and other members of the order declared that he had taken himself a chair at the right hand of Rianark and believed he was above the law. This was of course, human frailty at its best. The ugly head of envy displayed from prominent seats of power. The Rianark order cast him and his family from their numbers.
The guards declined to be in his presence and the commoners even turned away. Within half-years time his father became sick and none would come to tend on his needs. The people believed the once righteous man was now a blight on their way of life and a disgrace to their god. His father died, holding Niplin and his mothers hands in his own and in his last breath passed onto them this encouragement;
"Take all the love and persecution in this life you can, and refrain from the darkness. It is not the end.."
Despite all he had been through, his father died with a partial smile frozen into his features. He death came too long before age would have brought it naturally. Part of Niplin died inside that day also - the part that believed in structured religion. He had seen first hand the dangers of following blindly.
As if the Rianark priests were waiting for his death as a formailty, they came in and seized the land his father had bought over the years and gave it to the "good people of the land". Niplin and his mother moved to a smaller village miles down the road. Within a couple years of that time his mother grew distant. He woke up one morning in the small hovel they could afford while he worked as a fur-trappers assistant and realized she had gone. He didn't know where but it didn't matter. He understood, he thought. All she believed in had died years previous and he felt no remorse for her leaving. In fact he felt joy. She was free again. He packed up his simple belongings and put on his leathers. He left the small building and never looked back.
Roaming the countryside and enjoying all manner of lifestyles, befriending all types of common folk had become his way of life. He worked the oddjob here and there for some coin and eventually made his way into a large city and after a few tests of arms, earned his right to join the Guards guild.

Loyalty: The Bandits
description: A scrawny farmer boy with the brightest of blue eyes any one had seen, his long, wavey, black hair is oftan tied back in a poney tail. His face, though young, is worn and is oftan showing signs of hatred or sadness.
Equipmant: Simple black cloth, with brown hessian worn like a poncho, cut at the sleaves to form a vest. Tied around the weist with a simple dark leather belt that holds i small hunters knife to his left and more oftan than not, a goured of water to his right. His shoes are Rabbits hide coming up past the ankle, strengthened with lizards hide. tied with scrap sheeps wool. A simple bow srung across his back and a Quiver that is never seems to be empty of arrows. His only jewlry, is a simple brooch given to him by his farther.
background: Paylem grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Tarrus. His Father was a member of the Traders Guild and saw that his family always got the best that he could offer. His mother was thought to be a sibling of the Noon God, for her bright fair hair and her dazling blue eyes, she went to Tarius to become a priestess. As was common for woman with such features.
Growing up in a well off family, there was nothing much for Paylem to do, when he was old enough to walk, he would oftan join his Dad out on the fields, watching him as he supervised his workers. One he became close to, was an old Guard called Timothin. A well renowned archer within his squad. On his 10th birthday Timothin made Paylem a bow of strong Oak, with string made from the finest silk, woven with sheeps wool. Every day, Timothin would watch and critisize as Paylem practised, until he was almost as good as Timothin himself.
Bot, of course, this would not be much of a story if there was not tradagy, and it sure did come. Order Guards came down from the capital and set fire to all the crops, released all the cattle and destroyed all the distilleries. His farther fought the guards valiantly but was badly injured in the folly. Paylem, took the bow and began to reign arrows down on the Guards, getting one square in the eye, he presummed was the captain, as his armour was grander than any ones.
With there captain down, the rest of the Order began slaying all those who were in sight, Paylem feared for his life, but he remained at his Dads side, After ther killing had stopped and Paylems sobbs subsided. his dad spoke.
'They come because we follow Oscilus'
Paylem's farther gave to Paylem a simple brooch, on it was engraved a stag, which was the family badge. The stag was bucking up towards the moon, that Paylem assumed ressembled the Moon God.
'Find Timothin, he has gone on search for your mother'
His dieing wish, Paylem acknowladged, so he set out for Vianas. Though with no experiance of travel before, Paylem got lost and soon was lying in a field, doomed to die. But a man wandered across him. a man smaller than most. Took pity on Paylem and brought him into his, then, small gang of Bandits and Highwaymen that called themselves, 'Severance'
though still young (18), too youmg to join raids in Little Rins eyes. He is oftan left behinde to watch camp. He earns his keep by cleaning and cooking for the Bandits, though he swears that when he has enough experiance, he will leave and venture for his mother and Timothin.
Hows that? any thing you want me to change? Though i will fight to the death to keep him as he is.

Err. I think you sort of misunderstood.
You can be a Weaver, Weavers obviously have some strengths. But bare in mind weavers CANT just fire off spells like wizards or mages in other games. They weave spells that are benificial or do something to help. You cant really weave together fire and throw it, doesn't work like that. But you COULD weave together a screen that makes the area BEHIND the screen seem empty. Tricks, illusions and enchantments.
What I ment by "Normal" is they cant go jumping around like jack in the boxes slaughtering countless guards while only getting a few scratches. You have to think through a fight rather than just hack and slash. That doesn't mean you CANT be tough, a Lythan Hunter can take on a few guards with his stealth and speed, then hack em by surprise with his strength. He couldn't just rush a bunch of armed guards without any harm coming to him.
Fayeborn: Just read through your character and I dont see a problem with it at all. Sounds good to me in general with a solid background. The bit where he died holding their hands was quite dramatic ^^
Nork: Again, character seems fine. Minor thing you could perhaps change however, if Little Rin took you in he'd expect you to fight alongside everyone else. Also "severance" dont have a camp. They all split up after a raid and dont know when they'l be back together until Weaver, the mysterious guy who only talks to Rin normally, comes to get you.

Name: Khendon "The spear" Al'rash
Loyalty: Mostly to himself but of course also to the Order of Rianark, and in secret to the weavers guild.
Description: Khendon is of average height with a slim muscular build.
His gray eyes are mystical but at the same time warm, a small nose and high cheekbones togheter with long brown curly hair surround and makes his facial appearance. His life in the wilds has shaped his body into an agile form which he uses in a special fighting technique he has made up himself. and one thing which he keeps hidden all the time is a small open eye tatoo on his left side torso.
Equipment: Armed with a sharp and deadly short spear which he uses with great skill in the technique he calls "the tigers dance", besides that he has a large quantite of knifes, everything from throwing to heavier knifes.
His clothing consists of a mulititude of dampen and dark colors, brown, black, dark green. Clothing that gives camouflage in the wilds where he know lives his life. He also has a long black hooded cloak. Tied to his belt is four small pouches in which he has provisions and other needed equipment, Khendon traveles light and lives of what he can find during the day.
Background: Born in the great city Vianas Khendon was raised to become a trader as his father and grandfather before him. These plans were all put to and abrupt end a cold wintersday at the border to the lands owned by the Lythus. A party of bandits attacked his fathers carts and killed him along with all his companions. When words came to Vianas Khendons mother fell into a deep depression which ended in suicide.
Khendon was now alone, he was eight years old when this tragedy happened.
Forced into begging to stay alive his life had turned into a struggle for survival on the streets of Vianas.The following year promised nothing els then misery for the young lad. But one day Khendon met an old man who saw something special in him, the man took khendon of the streets and into a new world. A world of hope. So after almost a year of begging and hardship Khendon again had a home.
The man took him to the weavers guild. weavers had since their downfall from the power been forced to live in hiding, few as they were they still held a power that not many could match, and when they stumbled opon a boy or a girl whit the gift they often took them as pupils. Khendons power in weaving was however limited, he would never become a great wielder of magic. So he learned what he could and on his sixteenth birthday Khendon left the weavers in search for training in combat.
He had heard that the priests of Rianark was among the fiercest fighters in the world, But a man like Khendon had the same chance to become a priest as to become a god, and he despises religion so the priest trade is nothing for khendon. But masters in combat could be found at many places, if you asked the right questions. And soon Khendon found Argath, he was a former assasin and hand to hand combat specialist who now lived peacefully in a small town far from both Vianas and Ponterra. Khendon managed to talk the man into teaching him and soon a knew chapter in his life began.
Argath tought him, not only how to fight with weapons and body but also how to sneak, hide and several other secrets only assasins knew about.
Khendon had no thoughts of becomming an assasin, and that was why he chose the spear as his main weapon.
At the age of twentyfive Khendon left his master to life and train in the wilds.
Out there he could also practise his weaving, as that would have been a terrible misstake to use infront of other people, especially infront of his master. And it was out here he invented "the tigers dance" a stance made up out of several techniques which he had learned.
several years later at the age of thirtytwo Khendon is still living mostly in the forests covering the lands of Ponterra. even though he make visits to towns and villages, sometimes to talk, sometimes to work. In some places he is a respected man and many traders has been saved by his spear, but however even if he can take on almost anyone single handed Khendon avoid being cought up in larger fights, but if he gets to do the first move, then its another story. So money is not a problem for Khendon, though he is far from rich he is not poor.
When we meet Khendon in the comming adventure he will be residing inside the halfway house the bandit group "severance" are about to attack.
roger that Grysham. It was a quick story i threw together, though i loke to take my time and think things through, i only had an hour before i had to get back to work. And i had to check out WoA aswell.
okay brief summery of events.
Paylam is a boy of abought 21, sniper with a bow and arrow, small skill with a sword, taught to him by the other bandits.
If you want him to fight , then he spends most of the battle at the back, or up a tree, providing 'artillary' support, taking out the biggest threats.
hmmm no camp? hmmm. When not raiding with Severance, Paylam spends his time as an Apprentice to an Armourer, at a small village south of Vianas.

Occupation: Sword for hire.
Loyalty: Himself and the person that hired him at the moment.
Jerhmiha is a tall man about 6'4 tall.
He has short blonde hair and is well shapped.
The scars on his face show that Jermiha has seen his share of battles.
He seldom shows any emotions, it's something that makes people around him uncomfertable.
Equipment:
Jermiha takes good care of his equiment his oppinion is, if you want to do your job right you need the right tools.
He wears a strong leather pants and vest wich keep him safe from the elements.
Over his clothing he wears a sleevles black chain vest to protect him from harm. He wears no helmet. He wears high thick black leather boots and has leather gloves.
He wears a katana(sword a samurai uses) on his back.
Background:
Jermiha ran away from home when he was six years old, having a mother for a prostitute and a father that was an alcholic he didn't leave much behind.
He wanderd the streets of Vianas for months stealing food and finding places to sleep. When Jermiha was seven jears old he managed to steal a necklace of a jewler. Hunted down by the guild guard jermiha faced serious charges and Jermiha was sure he either be killed for his crime or would be locked away the rest of his life. It was this day one man changed Jermiha's life.
The judge sentenced him either long term enprisonment or someone would take in the boy and teach him how to behave in this world.
No one seemed intrested in taking Jermiha in after all he was thief.
But after what seemed hours to Jermiha, one man stood up claiming he would take care of the little child.
It all happend so fast to Jermiha, he was released from jail and just given away to this strange old man.
The old man's name was Jargoth, he had to be somewhere around fifty.
He had grey hair and a stern look and the only defence he was wearing was a katana at his side.
Jermiha was gratefull to the man for saving hi, this was the first act of kindness he had ever seen in his life and he was most certain not to let the man down.
From that day Jermiha got drilled each day consisted out of sword practice.
It was a nightmare to learn all the moves and patterns his master called it The dance of the dawn. After sword practice Jermiha learned how to read and write. Jermiha was raised with the way of the sword. There where only two things important in this life stile, honor and excel in whatever you do.
When Jermiha reaced the age of eighteen his master told him he was ready to go into the world and learn his final lessons there. He gave Jermiha a letter where he could find work and gave him his very own katana.
Now he was ready to bring honor upon his name.
Jermiha was hired for several purposes, guarding a person or object or escorting trade caravans, bountyhunting.
Life has been good on Jermiha he made a nice profit and has established quite a name in the mercenary circle.
He is known to be fiecely loyal to the one who pays him.
When Jermiha gives his word he will do something for you, he will keep on going till he succeeded or dies.
I dont know excatly what the term halfway house means but I assume it is somekind of in so to make it easy on Grysham, Jermiha is in the halfway house on duty to guard a merchant and his cargo who is spending the night there.

Ewpk: Yep, a Halfway House is an Inn along a road thats usually near halfway between two places on a road, hence its name. Traders and travelers rest at a Halfway House. It isn't anything more than an Inn though.
Your character is fine too by the way and having your character at the Inn will make it easier.
Shanda: Your char is fine aswell from what I see. Again, being in the inn makes it easy enough.
Hmm, from what I see however, it appears that most characters, apart from Nork, are more likely to be AGAINST Severance rather than with them. This makes an interesting possibility.
The current story is going to be like this. Severance are about to attack the Inn, they attack quickly and "Weaver" uses a particular spell to make their hiding place on the hill more or less invisible. When they attack they kill as few people as possible, mainly near the caravans, and ride back up to their starting point where Weaver hides them all again.
However, before Severance can attack another bandit group, not seeing Severance, attacks the Inn brutally. This even surprises Little Rin as he usually has information on bandit activity and wasn't told anything about this new gang. The new gang, however, dont look like humans. They have the heads of wolvers and fight with claws. To all extents and purposes they look like a Lythan raiding party.
Howevers inside will have to fight but they'l be surprised by the attack and wont be able to launch a good defence. While the Lythans steal one or two carts, they burn the rest to the ground and make off. Severance takes advantage of the fighting, killing both guards and Lythans who get in their way, and steals as much as possible, which isn't much.
Little Rin kills a Lythan, noticing that the Lythans face doesn't move or snarl like usual. When he kills him, he looks closer and notices the head is a mask. He also notices that all the Lythans drag away any bodies of their allies from the fight. The Lythans are a fake.
Now if anyone saw severance, which I'l assume they did, severance will now be accused of siding with Lythans. Big trouble.
Your characters could then take up hunting down Severance to bring them to justice or something along those lines. What would your characters do? What would their goals be after such an attack? Would they want revenge?
After that Little Rin is going to be stoped by someone knowing hes the bandit leader. He'l persuade him to guard his party going north, but he wont say why. His money is good, so Little Rin, aware that hes now going to be hunted with greater effort than before, accepts.
I have the rest of the story planed to the end, so think about what your characters will do once the Inn is attacked. How will you tie them into this storyline?
To make it clear, none of those INSIDE the Inn will discover the Lythans were fakes, or if they realise it they wont have proof.
Jermiha will have a goal to chase you, if everything gets stolen including the shipment he had to protect he will hunt your gang of thieves down to the very gates of hell.

I would prefer to side into Severance if possible. Whatever you like.
Nips a freeman and could easily see stealing and killing as a justice if those he's taking from are loyal to somthing as disgraceful as the Order of Rianark Priests or guards.
If they're merchants trading in the goods of Rianark priests or guards then he's going to figure they're loyalties are misled and while he might not be prone to killing them, he'd definately clout them with a staff and take back the goods as the Order took all he had from him.
Edit in: I know he's loyal to the guild, and to those that are righteous, but even the guild guard must have some internal conflicts and seperatist factions?

Khendon will.. that depends. If he get hurt he will get angry and want vengance but if he can make it unharmed noone but the gods know what he might do.. :shocked:
Has any one seen the 13th warrior? with antonio banderas in it? story sounds similar to that, with men dressed as Lythans rather than bears. Whats next buddy? a firey snake? nah i kid, cant wait till its started.
At the beggining, im going to have Paylam up a tree at the edge of a field, opposite the inn, high up so that he just abought see round the back, to where i assume the caravans are going to be. Here i will be able to provide perfect cover, incase things really hit the fan. But when the Lythans attack, i could get knocked out of the tree, so that i can demonstrate the fact that i am handy with a sword as well.

If jermiha finds out that Severance didn't steal what he was protecting he won't have a problem with them, if Severance is going after the other bandits to clear their name chances are he will side with Severance to get to the package.
Are we going to get this started? my bow finger is getting itchy!!!

I await your opinion: what shall we do with the Hordies?? Shall Elythriande recognize one of them, as a friend (thus putting it on my shoulders, to carry along, and ropleplay another additional 4 characters), or make them utterly blood-crazed foreigners, falling before the might of our group?? Description: To the human, just a Lythan wolf. As a Lythan, he is not as large as those of his age, having a more slender form and standing not quite as tall. His face and nose are a bit more drawn out, with smaller teeth, looking much like a Lythan who was not designed to do what Lythans do: hunt and kill. His fur is a light-ash grey with a bushy ring of white fur (think 1/3 of a lions mane) that cirles his shoulders. There is an odd streak of fur that runs from between his shoulders down to the small of his back in the shape of a diminishing triangle. It is gold like the sun.
Background:
Arthilyx was a committed member of his pack, earnestly training and trying to keep up with the others and be a profitable hunter in spite of his smaller size. He believed he would catch up in growth with time, as he was often told, but after so many seasons it simply became obvious that he was never going to become large enough to be a hunter of significance. This, compounded with the birthmark of offcolor fur down his back, made grow increasingly unfavored with both the hunters and priests.
He was told it was a big hunt. He was told the whole pack was counting on the hunt to succeed. He wasn't told it was all a ploy to set him up. Along with his fellow Lythan brothers, they weaved their way though the forrest silently (something Arthilyx excelled at) in search of a large group of deer that had been passing through the area. Determined to prove his worth once and for all, Arthilyx stayed close to the leader as he performed the honored role of advance scout. Normally this was done alone, but today Arthilyx had been allowed to join, it was part of a plot he knew nothing about.
Unknown to him, the hunting pack had changed directions and left the pair to themselves shortly after embarking on the hunt. Quietly the two slinked through the forrest in search of prey that, though Arthilxy could not detect, seemed to be just ahead of them. Sheepishly he whispered to the leader of the pack, Gurthix, "Are you sure...". He was met with a deathly gaze that reminded him of the 1st rule of scouting: silence. Arthilyx swallowed the rest of his words, knowing that to continue would be a sign of insolence and due swift punishment.
Gurthix perked up his head and dashed off. Caught off guard, Arthilyx shot after him, keenly gazing at where he had just seen him leap from. Although he was very fast and agile, following Gurthix was proving to be a near impossible task. Up ahead, he heard the telltale sound of the howl that would alert the rest of the pack. Dashing forward, Arthilyx dove through the thick brush where he was sure he had last seen him go.
His thoughts were as cloudy as the distant white forms he saw before him. He sensed he was falling, but couldn't register why, him mind still pumped with adrenaline from the chase. As he tumbled through the air he saw Gurthix watching intently from the cliff behind him. Arthilyx was beginning to howl for help as shock ran though his body like lightning.
The river was ice cold and quickly began its work numbing away the muscles of its most recent river. As his head broke the surface of the water, Arthilyx gasped for breath, frantic, not knowing where the speedy current would take him, if he even made it. Cold, he thought as his mind continued slowing. I'm so cold.
When he awoke he was barely concious of his surroundings, hearing the occasional chirp of a bird, and the crunch of leaves. Arthilyx tried to lift his head but found his whole body weak. He saw boots. He stared at them for a while trying to figure out what they were from the angle at which his head lay. He had seen boots before, but never with a man in them. Somewhere in the dark recesses of his mind a voice told Arthilyx to run in fear, but he was so tired. He just wanted to sleep and not wake again. The last thing he heard was an older voice saying "This may prove to our gain Rin."
Warmth. He knew he was alive because he could feel his muscles being warmed. The sound of a fire crackeling roused Arthilyx's mind from sleep. Quickly lifting his head, still remembering that there was something he should fear, he saw a human form crouched inbetween himself and the fire. Slowly the figure cocked his head back to look Arthilyx in the eye, "Awake then?"
"You...you saved me", was all he could reply.
"Yes" Rin said as he stood and faced the still weary Lythan. "And you can be sure your going to pay me back for the trouble", he said with the slightest smirk.
Slowly, to not rouse concern, Arthilyx stood on all fours and quickly nuzzled this humans hand once. He had seen a dog do it once, and understood it to be an action of conveyed trust and respect. He did owe this man his life, for now company with this traveller was all he had.

This does connect me with Rin, but not in so strong a way that he cant be left behind or whacked if he got in the way. The bond is more from me to Rin, not necessarily the other way. I figure I have been travelling with Severance for a while at the time the story begins, but modification can be made to fit with what is going on. Thanks for starting this.

I was just reading over the intro stuff again when i noticed that one of your companions was a Lythan. I didn't mean to disturb things, but I seem to have written myself in as your other companion without even knowing it. If you had other plans, that is fine. I can change or something. But having looked at it a couple of times now, I think my backstory and the companion you mentioned can be merged into one entity.
Granted some rewriting would be needed, or at least correcting of what has been written. Any way it falls, just know I am real excited about this specific RPthread and plan to make it my main focus. Just let me know what you think. Thanks again.

I was going to edit my previous post (sorry for multiple posts) but it seems I have limited access to edit my own posts. Anyway, I don't really like to undo creativity once I have set it forth. So, assuming you can allow me to be the companion you mentioned, I have come to a solution after much re-reading of everything set forth thus far.
If you will delete my post in the RP thread, I have another post (written off-line) which will bring my vision of my Lythan hunter into greater harmony with the companion you briefly described. The description I posted here could stay (I can fix minor differences though writing in the RP thread). Also, I have already started writing some things for the other bandits attack, in my head. Having been betrayed by his own, Arthilyx would want it to be Lythan bandits, out a feeling of revenge. Yet he would innately be able to tell the difference between true Lythan and those who pretended, no matter how real the act seemed. This also adds credibility to the "Rin is guilty" story since you have an actual Lythan who has traveled with you for some time.
Or I could make another character. I think you see how much I do not want to do that, but I will go with what you decide.
