I wanted to run this by you guys to see what you think.
I feel that level 59 is the best point to rack up honor points and rank. You're at the highest level you can get in most Battlegrounds you're in (Gulch, Basin), and outclass the majority of those you fight. Personally, I'm 1/3rd of the way to 60, and while I could get 60 overnight, I've decided to stay put for now and reap the benefits of my position, until I obtain at least Knight.
Does anyone know a good reason not to do this, other than the burning desire to finally be a 60 (my first)? For instance, is there some limiter at 59 that keeps you from obtaining rank as easily as at 60?
Also, I'm considering trying to put together a group (not a guild, just a regular group) of players on Argent Dawn, all in their 50's, to PvP with. I'm doing this because I don't want to leave my current guild, and I haven't run into any heavily pvp oriented guilds I like. Pickup Groups just aren't working for me. I'd like to be in an organized group of people out to improve their pvp game, as well as have fun trying to achieve fleeting fame on our server. Since I can't find a group like that, I might try to make one.
But first... is my reasoning on this flawed?
I have a (rough-draft) website devoted to the subject at http://shock.cnaut.com. I'm not recruiting for it yet, but I'm getting ready to and am looking for opinions.

I never like the 50-59 BG's on my server becuase nothing but AV ran all the time. Its better to just get to 60, more honor per kill, and alot more games to play. There is just way more BG stuff going on at lvl 60. And its not to bad that your all the same level, you dont have to depend on killing guys 9 level below you. Just hit 60, get the huge boosts and the final talents, and keep moving on.
All in All, 60 BG's are alot better. Faster in my opinion to, becuase you have alot more heavily skilled players there. Youll get more honor in one night of 60 BG's than you will in any other range.

What you're saying seems to make sense to me. My understanding (since I'm not 60 either) is that a newly minted 60 is equal to the lvl 50-52s that you see in your current bracket. Sure, you can kill stuff. However, you'll likely be heavily outgunned. I've got a better chance of killing a moose bare-handed than the 60s who pvp on my server. My plan is to wait until I've got at least a little high end gear before I start 60s pvp.
As for getting a group to pvp with alot, that's a great idea. A little cohesion, teamwork, and ventrilo or TS will go a long way to making the matches faster and easier. Faster and easier mean that much more rep/hks per hour.
Just my 2c.

jsut PvP whenever your not raiding high-end instances

and as soon as you hit 60 go and live in places like strat scholo and UBRS so that you have good enough gear to get into a raiding guild.

Nice try, but on my server you can basically forget about 50-59 AB and most definitely about WSG.
It's gotten so bad that people even have to make an appointment with the other faction on the server forum...
Only thing running where 51-59 can participate as well is Alterac Valley.

Meh.. 75:25 alliance to horde ratio means that I find it soo hard to get into 60 battlegrounds. I did 8 hours of pvp (well waiting in queues as well) for 4 days a week, and got 68k honor throughout the whole week. That's around 17k honor a day. On my previous server I could max 85k in 12 hours.
Transfer servers ftw... and the horde on my previous server are whining there are no alliance :D

Its really server dependant. On my server, the 40-49 BGs are real active, so I'm sitting at 48 (and moving toward 49 with just mark turn-ins). However, there is never a 50-59 game. A level 55 guy in my guild always says "I've been in queue for X hours for warsong/AB.." Atleast he can do AV...
If 50-59 runs on your server, by all means own it up...

meh... the 51-59 will have much lower ranks than the lvl 60s one. Might as well just get to 60 for the cheer, and then paly bgs. Also more fun in the BGs when everyones the same lvl

50-59 runs on our server almost all the time. This is due to most of the 50-59 not wanting to play in AV. There are tier 1/2 epiced out Horde/Alliance in there, and it's really no fun for them. I remember playing in 50-59. Myself and a friend tried to "twink" ourselves out with as much end-game gear as we could, before we hit 60. I was at lvl 59 with almost full Shadowcraft/Devilsaur/DPS gear, and had the Dal Rend's set enchanted with +15agil. I say go for it, OP. It's your last chance to "jack up" some lowbies in the BGs. Used to love seeing the little lvl 50-51s run away when they saw me.

There is more honor on the 60 Battlegrounds, but when you've just become a 60 and haven't done at least your two hundredth dungeon crawl, you tend to be little more than cannon fodder for a while. Also, it's nice to dominate the field, at least in your personal space and when not ganged up on (and they DO gang up on me specifically).
As for the 50-59's, I wish they were more active, but they're not too dead on my server. The problem is I'm constantly up against organized groups, and the best I can round up are pickup groups. I don't believe any BG I've been in has ever been won by the Alliance. Most players involved in pvp have no interest in strategy or winning, only kills (which isn't that bright, but their loss).
I'm half considering moving to 60, simply to try to find a BG guild to join, but before I make that leap (which I can't take back)... maybe I can find some Argent Dawn folks in their 50's who'd like to see what an organized group can do. I'd really rather stay at 59 and rake in rank (up until I have to hit 60 to go farther) - but there's no point if PuGs are the only future I have.

Yeah, an organized group (or guild) on vent makes the enjoyment of the BGs much greater. My guild on Kil'Jaedan has about 7 people running in WSG/AB in the 40-49 range. I haven't experienced a WSG/AB loss in days.
All we do now is BG...and I like it for now. We'll burn out and make the push to 60 in a few weeks I would guess.

59 is a *great* level for leveling up honor.... if (big if) you can get it to work. I know several 59's on our server who stayed at both 49 and 59 for several weeks to gain honor. Made it to rank 10, and got the pvp gear. Then they moved on to 60, and the 50-59 bracket has died down. And with good pvp gear, they had an easier time at 60.
So, it really depends on your server, and also who is playing in the 50-59 bracket.
Note: for alliance this will be much harder as you will likely have to wait in queues and play with PUGs more.

my sham was the SAME!!!! BAHAHA
I had hand of edward the odd with crusader ( no 22int at the time) then right as I hit 58 I decided to switch to enhance and I got myself and arcanite reaper, which I also put crusader on...and since I'd been going to stuff like scholo, UBRS, Strat, and LBRS since I was lvl 55 as extra healing, and this was how I was leveling(no grinding or questing whatsoever)....rofl I had savage gladiator chestpiece and Hand of Justice from BRD, from BRS I had Painweaver band, Emberfury Talisman, Draconian Deflector, and chiselbrand girdle, from strat I had crown of tyranny, timmies galoshes, bone slicing hatchet, band of flesh, stoneskin gargoyle cape, blood of the martyr, from scholo I had an iceblade hacker, bone golem shoulders, beaststalkers cap, and shadowy mail greaves....so yeah and that's jsut the enhance stuff I had
made it so I had like 28% crit and a very very sad amount of mana. BUT!!!! I specced 31 into enhance jsut so I could get those double WF procs using SS :D so I made peoplz cry and it was really scary when I had SS on cooldown and my Hand of justice procced and gave me an extra attack...people were like HAX!!!!

It really depends on your server, the age ect. On my server horde side it is hard to field enough lvl 60's to make more than one game of WSG. The allaince on the otherside has about 4x teams waiting. Also the overall attitude of the lvl 60's is horrible (spitting and rude gestures) vs the 50-59 (lots of salutes and dancing).
I've been lvl 59 for 3 weeks now and while all i do is PVP (which is hard since i cant quest with friends). Ive been 4th or 5 in the pvp stands and jumped from rank 5 to 7 the first week, 7 to 8 week 2 and 8 to 9 week 3.
If your server is young enough id stay at 59 and create a group.

laf. on my server there is no point in going to bg's unless your in one of the top raiding guilds with AT LEAST mostly teir 1 or generals set. pugs lose NEARLY 100% of the time, and if you cant get into or arent in a raiding guild, or dont like raiding you might as well just quit pvp forever.
Compare the epics available at the world / strat / scholo level to the stuff in bwl and now aq. the discrepancy is so huge, 1h wpns from aq that do more than 2h epics from UBRS. items go up to lvl 80-90 now. Its more like fighting with lvl 40 gear on vs somone with 60 gear on.
Its a joke. pvp really has nothing to do with skill or organization when the other team outlevels you by 30.
Unfortunately the 50-59 bgs are the most balanced you will find. but also the least populatd

I always try to get the best avaliable for each bracket. First 19, I had the staff from WC, and as many blue things I could muster. Now I'm 28, and intent on leveling to 30 only through marks. I have mostly blue gear except for 1-2 greens. At 38 I'll do the same, with some nice stuff from SM etc. Persuing kills and ranks are not my goal at this level, its the rep.
If you can do 51-59 BGs on your server, go for it! You will be crushed at level 60. Just get as much rep rewards and as high rank as you can.
