its all up to what you like playing with, pallys tend to be better with mail/heal but i love my priest, so its all up to you

I just started 3 mo ago and have leveled a priest to 40. I have never seen the message, "LF1M need Pally".

Priests are the numero uno of all healers (with the 1.1 patch, better than druids). As such you will always be able to find a group for instances. Well, except in the mid 30's to mid 40's range, unless you wanna do Scarlet Monestary 300 times.

As I understand it though, post 60 priests can get stuck with healer burnout. There are only so many times you can play CTRaid Whack-a-mole until you get bored. Also, expect to be the number one gank target as you can only wear cloth.

I love my priest. Shadowform looks SO cool.

Try both. It doesn't take long to level a character to level 19. The one you like best continue as you main. Take the other to WSG.

wsg 10-19 is the biggest joke..i leveled a paladin to 19 so i could do a little bit of pvp action.......it was my biggest waste of 30 minutes....everyone in it was like lv 10-15 and had no clue on waht they were doing.....i was thinking about whacking crusader ehnchant on smiteys weap. but i was stupid to think that...esp when paladins try to go toe-to-toe with someone....esp a priest...i put SotC on so i hit faster against him but he just bubbles and runs around me...so every 3 or 4 seconds it will hit maybe once then it will say "target must be in front of you"
:@
and hammer of justice...3 seconds of stun is like 40 damage i can deal because of the slow, slow slow weapon..priests at level 16 can whack on like 100life in 1.5 seconds
well thats what wsg was for me at that particular time

I'd say Paladin at the moment. 1.10 is going to be a nice upgrade for a priest but it's not going to change their role in a group.

I have a 60 priest and a 52 paladin.

Paladin was my first ever character but I got distracted around level 34 and made a lot of Alts. Only recently have I gone back to the paladin and I once again find it fun to play. I like the variation in a group, your quick thinking can really save a group as I showed in Sunken temple last night, finnishing blow against the 55 elite with only 47 of my health left and both shields used. The priest went OOM really early due to the sleep attack and died not much later. If things really get bad you can even sacrifice your own life for the life of a group member.

Priest was my second charachter and first level 60. It was very hard work leveling but I never had any trouble finding instance groups, still don't have trouble. I just march into IF and take the first group that I fancy. PVP as a priest is the only good point as far as I can see, it's a break from healing (If you don't want to heal in the BG) You get a chance to show off your damage. Later though you do tend to get ripped appart and you will most times be the first target of the enemy. The real down side, healing in raids, I've been through most 5-15 man instance but I couldn't tell you what they look like. All I see is the health bars, most times I couldn't tell you how many enemies are around us, I'm too busy saving the group's life. I loved healing to start with but since I got to 55 I've done enough instances to be totally burnt out, that's not many raids, maybe 15 level 55-60 maximum. My priest never gets played now, she sits in Stormwind making moon cloth every 4 days.

Which do you prefer? Melee or casting? I started with a Pally, who is 52. Now I have a Priest, 19. I use her in WSG for fun. And it IS very fun. Damage output is high. Healing is fun for now. Play my Pally when noone que's.

Melee is really boring for me with my pally, since the damage isnt that great.

I play a priest lv 60
i dont know what paladins actually do in a party because im always on the ball when it comes to healing. Do they actually do anything? or do they just stand around jumping and flirting with the mob and occasionally pull off a heal :)
pre 60 i rekon paladins would be pretty fun...but when it comes to end game i dont know their role.

I can't really answer that because I have not dinged 60 with my pally yet but I would say that Pallys can tank in end game and alot of locks are soulstoning them instead of the priests because they have more survivability. Pallys aren't really meant to be strong healers but they are meant to stay alive and to do what they can to keep their group from wiping too much...As far as lvling, lvling with a priest is a pain in the ass, lvling with a pally is a breeze, tanking 2 mobs at a time is cake, taking on elites solo up to 4 lvls above you is possible....we can do alot while lvling..priests have alot more trouble lvling as their shield pre 1.10 is very weak and they don't get some of their good fears until later..and everyone knows fearing is not the best thing to do when you are in close corridors...Mor

I'll let you know a few weeks after 1.10. I plan on levelling a Dwarf Priest to 60 then.

If you want to be able to do some healing or just buff and do damage and off-tank -whatever you feel like for the most part - then play a Paladin. Some Paladins can do their buffs and go AFK follow for a while and no one notices or really cares they are not whacking things. As a Priest you are by default "the healer" unless another healing class steps up to the job.

If you WANT to be a main healer, the Priest is easy to find groups for and easy to heal with even if largely Shadow specced (Disc/Holy rules for healing now, but with 1.10 the cookie cutter is gone). The point is that you can have the spec and gear to do nice damage and still qualify for main healing in most instances.

Main healing as a Paladin requires careful spec choice, attention to getting the right gear, and being more alert and on the ball than a Priest or Druid. That is challenging and why I thought it would be fun to try and it has been fun up to and at 60. Sometimes it would be nice to have a group heal, but then I would be overpowered. Between Holy Shock, Hammer of Justice, Seal of Justice, and BOP there are a few tools that can stabilize a situation that is falling apart long enough to patch things up. As a Priest I just PWS/Prayer of Healing - I appreciate that ability more when playing a Paladin. I also appreciate the ability to keep healing when I get aggro - Paladins tend to be the last people standing.

Having a Shadow Priest doing DPS with VE and the occasional PWS (plus having the fort buff) makes main healing as a Paladin quite easy.

I can't comment on lvl 60 content, but up to ZF etc when not main healing or attempting to tank, I'll tend to judge with Light or Wisdom (to help a little with the healer's mana or the casters' mana), and whack the mob a little. If I see a need for some extra healing or cleansing I'll take a break from this (most commonly to save the priest - blessing of protection is wonderful :-)). If I see a need for some off-tanking I'll fire up the holy damage and go and do that. When the mob is nearly dead, if it's a type that runs, I'll judge Justice to stop it running (wouldnt' like to try SM without this ability...)

In other words, a bit of everything as required :-)

Recently I've been main healing a lot more as a paladin, and liking it - it's quite a challenge at times ;-)
