So the test servers have been live for 24 hours plus now. Many of you have probably have opinions on the changes and additions Blizzard have made. What are your thoughts so far? What's impressed you the most and least and how do you think 1.10 will affect the game dynamics?

The rain in STV was really fantastic. I love the way that it changes angle as your speed increases to make it look more realistic (as if you are running into it), and how the sky is all overcast and gray.

How do the environmental effects affect graphical lag? Sounds like there's no impact, but I'd like to hear for certain.
Anything else jump out at you?

Besides the typical nit-picks and "omg they're nerfing this or that" complaints (Death Coil not working on undead anymore? I LOVE using DC when farming AD rep  ), I'll give my comments. Note that I've not played the new patch, just commenting on it from having read it.
The things that strike me most are the changes to the upper-level instances, and the quest rewards at 60 giving cash rewards.
Unforunately, those of us who have spent several months at level 60 will not benefit from these at all. In fact, for some of us right in the middle of things, this will actually make it harder on us (specifically talking about the instance changes).
I guess I'm just bitter because I'm on an endless grind to exalted with Argent Dawn because I'm tired of carrying three sets of shoulders (+shadow, +fire, +nature), and yet again, a change they're making is shortchanging me. I'll explain--when I repped to revered, trash mobs stopped giving rep a loooong time before revered. I forget the change they made and when they made it, but sometime after I had ground that out on my own, they changed it so that trash mobs gave rep all the way up. So within a few weeks of hitting my revered (which took me several months), everyone and their mother was hitting it easily. So I slacked on Exalted, took my time, and here I find myself raiding ZG, MC, and AQ all in the course of the same week. So I naturally want the +5 resist for whatever encounter is applicable, but am tired of carrying backup shoulders all the time.
So I'm trying to grind the rest of the way to Exalted (10,000 rep to go). I'm doing this by farming my shards/cash/potions in EPL for scourgestones, and doing 25 minutes zerg runs through UD Strat for rep. We can clear that place in under a half an hour, getting a few hundred rep a clear, which is much more efficient than solo grinding scourgestones.
At least until 1.10. At which point, the instances will take FOREVER to clear, in 5-man runs that I no longer really have any gear incentive to go on as I'm decked out in ZG/MC/Onyxia gear for the most part now. So as a result, it will likely be several more months before I can reach Exalted.
Okay, so it's a very minor rant, but I think it's a larger theme of problems with the way Blizzard changes it's game. In many cases changes such as this have happened, which are great and benefit a lot of people, but have side effects of ever-so-slightly screwing those of us who have been playing for a year or more. The same thing happened with Zul'Gurub reptutation--I have been running ZG since it came out almost every single week, and am due to hit Revered this week. The players in my guild who started running ZG in December are all Honored now, though, while it took me nearly 5 months of constant ZG to hit honored. Kinda undermines the time and work I put in to get my reputation rewards when I'm seeing others get them in half the time or less.
That said, I'm thrilled to see weather. Thrilled to see the 0.5 tier sets, even though I likely won't use mine.
Looking forward to 1.10.

No more rep for Major Factions in AV :( :( :(
They took out the only fun way to get major faction rep, for no reason at all. And we now need to get back to grinding cloth or grain. WHY :(

just grind gahron's withering for minor scourgestones + invader scourgestones + ectoplasam for caludron quests
it's much faster then the instances unless you are getting every single corruptor stone in the instances

They did have a reason actually, stopping the rep farmers from hiding in the entry cave and letting others do all the hard work.

I am also interested in knowing about the weather vs. Lag. Also, is it harder to see a person that has the weather on vs. one that does not have the weather on? Does it change the pvp battle?
thanks
why is it patch 1.10 from 1.9? should n't it be going to 2.0 or something?
Slorax

Think of it like this:
1.9 = One point nine
1.10 = One.point ten
Dumb I know :P confused me at first :D

Version strings don't have something to do with numbers, some programs (like Windows) even use versions of the format "1.0.10.1234".
Version 2.0 would be Wow 2... ;)

Blizzard use this version system for over a decade now. So yeh, I guess you could've known...
how about any comments about the actual content?
for example i would like to know how the flight master ui has been changed?

Now this is a real informative thread. All these posts and I find out 1.10 has cool rain in STV.
Anyone else have some info besides complaining?
Anyone get any of the new armor and have pics of it on them?
Any pics of the rain, snow, earthquakes?

I believe the weather works different from what you might think.
You are in STV at position 51.43. WoW sends your computer the information "Rain". A simple note of some sort. Your computer itself generates the rain.
So there will be no internet lag, if I understand correctly. It is strictly computer-based, except for the small information piece about whether it rains or not.
Which means the only affect it will have on PvP or whatever, is lowered FPS and that you can feel, so you can always turn it off...
I would quote the Blizzard post I read it from, but I don't remember where I saw it. And the "Rain" message is not correct, but just an illustration of how your computer recieves a short input from WoW about whether it is raining or now.
The rain isn't server-side.

It hasn't changed much. Instead of showing routes (the black lines), it now only shows dots for the destinations. When you hover over one of those dots, it will show all necessary routes (black lines) to reach the destination and the total cost. No big thing, but very useful.
The transition between one route and the other seem to be very smooth. On my way to Gadgetzan from Orgrimmar via Crossroads the windrider flew very low above the XR windrider master's head, but it didn't seem unnatural.

Big thread I started about the armor sets. OK, so most of it has turned into complaining about repair costs, but meh. Can you blame a girl for trying?
You'll find set bonuses and looks there, but no stats as yet. The looks are the same as the rare quality sets but with different colours. I can't wait to make my rogue look like an extra from Tron.

I managed to get on the test server for a short time this morning (05:30 UK time) and even then there was a queue. What annoyed me most was that when i got in there must have been over 100 people at the start point, half of them just dueling and spamming duel requests at me and the other half were just standing around doing nothing. If this is normal no wonder the patches never work correctly as they are not getting tested fully (im not saying everyone is doing this but a large number seem to be so far from my short trip. Maybe next time it will be different)
Enough of complaining, the weather effects in Elwyn looked good and I never noticed any lag issues with it. The flightpath UI works well. As I only got on for 20 mins (had to go to work) thats all I really saw. Once I can get on for longer i will post again.

Rain, sandstorms and SNOW. In varying amounts, in different places. Such as Dun morough. There's even an official video of it outside IF fer goodness sake :)

Yes :) I hold out hope that the 8 part Darkmantle bonus isn't +200 armor, but instead turns your mount into a lightcycle and your ranged weapon into a frisbee. However, I think after all the work I'll put in I'm going to be severely disappointed!

I've read elsewhere that Hunter traps are now visible by the opposing faction.
I'm sure there's going to be a few upset Hunters about that if it's true. Can anyone verify that?

Can we keep the thread on the changes that are confirmed to come in 1.10. What the hell is the point of getting upset about something that almost certainly isn't meant to be. It's a TRAP, thus would not be a TRAP if the other side could see it.
But anyway, there are some unofficial vids of the weather effects around, and I've seen a screenshot of the new sunrises, and they're amazing!

I didn't see they the dozen times they got used on me on the test server yesterday if that helps, but I might just suck.
I went on to test the priest changes, my main is a UD 60, raiding spec. With my new 16 disc/ 35 holy spec I am better for healing in raids, though only slightly and pick up lightwell and spirit of redemption. The big plus is the improved DPS, with all the talents that improve smite I think I was getting about 350DPS without actually having a DPS metre.
I dueled a bit and won far more than I though I would inc. against mages. You do spawn with a TOEP, and now I want one which is bad, as that will reall piss all the mages in our guild off, and the locks, and pretty much everyone.
So holy is not very usable in pvp by my estimations. And light well looks pretty.

Regarding the traps in 1.10 Caydiem has made a post on this:
All right, folks, here's the deal with traps in 1.10.
Traps are not "visible" in 1.10. However, they're no longer invisible, either. Traps are now considered stealthed, with the detection that implies.
Considering the radius on Hunter traps, this should not affect PvP gameplay as much as, say, visible traps would. While they will appear to those who get close, there's still a very good chance that players will trigger the trap regardless.
The developers are open to examining the radius of trap detection and may change it depending on how it plays. I simply wanted to dispel the rumor that traps are visible to everyone, when that simply isn't the case.
Looks like a "normalisation" rather than a nerf but I can imagine that hunters (like me!) might find it more nerfy

There's a 1.5 second global cooldown after most abilities, including channelling ones, and it's been in place since release. Most channelled abilities last longer than 1.5 seconds though, so you don't notice it.
I'm really looking forward to the weather and possibly the priest changes, though I vowed not to play my priest anymore. Unfortunately the queue for the test server is longer than I am home and awake, so ><.
