Warlock+Palidan

personally i think this is the best duo combo in the game.

i myself am demon speced find the best partner to grind with being a pali

blessings

with mana seal he charges you and your void.
heal seal heals both you and the pet.
if you run low on mana you can life tap he heals you.
your void can hold aggro leaving both you and the palidan safe to kill your mob. if you get an add you have an off tank.

i rarely if ever half to stop or mana up. if needed the pali can mana up while i fight.

i'm willing to learn but i think this is the best combo in the game.

My main is a mage but I've got a paladin who's just as high, and I'd say a mage and paladin work great together, paladin can hold aggro and do considerable damage while mage smokes them down - even with med up time on conjured water the amount of damage a mage can do in such a short amount of time and the pally holding the mobs during med times make a great and very fast grind.

I play my paladin with my wifes mage and we easily take out 3 equal level mobs at a time between her aoe my seal of command and consecration +stuns and heals - with maybe 20 seconds downtime every 6 mobs (for her mana, and during I'll throw on a heal to keep my pally at top health).

I also play a retribution pally with just enough into holy to help heal + consecration - so I contribute a lot of damage - I hit up to 1100 damage in one attack at level 49 for example, (with SOC which hits very often) for a pally with average gear that is pretty good you have to admit. She is pure fire with all +fire damage gear and she hits for crazy amounts of damage, she could get off 1500 damage easy before I even get my sword above my head to swing it (also at 49).

Unless it's a mage and a priest duoing AOE, it's better to solo than just about any combo. Whenever you team with someone, either you level a little faster and he levels much slower (if he's a better leveler), the opposite, or simply you both level slower. 2 people on mobs of levels you're supposed to be grinding on is simply an overkill and quite a waste of time. Can be fun, nontheless, but effective? No.

How about 2 pallies? lol you want the most DPS as possible.
And I still insist that it's faster to grind solo unless you're AOEing.

I can solo just about anythig in ZG short of zerkers or axe throwers with a healer. My favorate is soloing the croc packs with jsut a druids renew on me and staying peged on health.

that said, Full Tier 2 warrior + druid!

Probably my favorite combo:

Shadow Priest + MD/Ruin Warlock w/succubus: healing + TONS of shadow dmg. Succubus only needs to tank for about two seconds for both people to get direct dmg off.

Others:

2 Rogues - /shudders at the thought of the kill speed and CS+Ambush combinations

2 Hunters - Could probably take on 3-4 guys at once with AOE taunting pets and kill insanely fast

2 Mages - AOE heaven

Healer + anything else - tank for safety, any dps class for fast kills, pally for protection, etc.

2 Druids - The versatility would be great. 2 cats, tank+healer, 2 offensive casters, etc.

I've also farmed elites with another shadow priest which works really well. We both shield, MB+dot, and then just play aggro ping-pong with mind flay. If we do it right, we don't take a bit of damage and it's hilarious to watch a mob spend the whole fight spinning circles because we trade aggro so much.

The list goes on and on. The depth of each class and the synergies you can create make this fun to think about.

The possibilities I like the idea of are:

Super AOE grinding so either 2 mages or replace 1 with a warlock, overall they could rip appart a huge group of enemies. They could also kite even the toughest enemy using a frost mage or curse of exhaustion.

Second would be a warrior or rogue with a paladin or shaman. Minimum down time since the real beef of the team doesn't have mana, the paladin or shaman would be there to add some damage and keep the health up.

Finally, 2 rogues, I used to run this with my brother. The first rogue uses ambush and gets the mobs attention turning it's back to the second rogue, fatal when used right. I never tried it but I imagine stun locking from 2 rogues being very nasty. The star quality of this combination is being able to sneak where every you want.

Druid + Rogue.

Darn, thought I would be the first to suggest this one. It might not be the fastest DPS, and it's hard to take down the harder hitting mobs, but stealth teams are tons of fun.

Don't know if this would be near as fast for grinding as some of the other combos, but there'd be no downtime.

Druid + Warlock is lots of fun too. Druid can drop HoT's on the warlock and then go off and do something else while the warlock lifetaps. There's lots of crowd control options here too.

While I don't think it's neccesarily wrong to say that "typically" duo grinding is inferior to solo grinding, because of the need for the duo to be synced together, and the rarity with which that actually happens, that isn't to say that mathematically speaking duo grinding is inferior. Most classes blend together very well, and if you have the right mind set on how you go about your slaughter, and have a sufficient supply of mobs to grind through, you can and will kill faster with a partner. Once again, presuming you share the right tactics and mind set.

If we look at it from a very simple equation;
Exp per hour = (Mobs/Time)/2

So if you can kill 20 mobs in 10 minutes, and another class can kill 20 mobs in 10 minutes, if you have 40 mobs you can reach in 10 minutes, you'll level at the same speed (or slightly higher, if there is a bonus for grouping) yet if you play your cards right, you can kill 50-60 mobs in 10 minutes. It's all a matter of how you do things.

The difference is stacking attributes of your class in a way that complement the other class. I'll give you an example. Let's team up a Hunter and a Rogue. If the hunter is Beast Master specced, the hunter should have the pet initiate combat. The rogue should always be a little behind the hunter. Here's how the combat roles are established: Hunter opens fight. Rogue joins second. After rogue joins, hunter disengages after a new target. Rogue finishes mob and follows after hunter, rinse and repeat. Because of the solid DPS of the hunter, rogue is getting to a mob at 50% health. Because of the speed with which your kill, rogue will always open up with 40% increased chance to crit ambush (spec assumed), thus, around 75-95% of ambushes will crit. This means the mob is dying within one combo. Hunter is cruising between mobs with his enhanced run speed and ranged DPS. (rogue gets benefit)

The entire strategy is ruined, however, if one of the partner doesn't keep up, or if the hunter leaves too early, or if the rogue has really poor gear, so he can't kill the mob fast enough and it keeps doing 30% dmg to him, etc.

So it's a tricky line you're walking. And each duo has it's own strategy. I'm just saying it's doable. Another problem is having areas suitable for duo grinding. (In other words, tons of mobs.)

A good rule of thumb is to seek out areas that are popular for AoE grinding. You'll hunt there, except at a few levels higher than a mage would do it, due to resist factors. These should have a ton of easily pullable mobs.

I personally find duo grinding to be extremely fun, and takes the dullness out of grinding, considerably. Most of my long term MMO buddies have been from people I have duoed with out of either boredom or neccesity, and was impressed by their skill and just being cool people.

Give it a shot. At the very worst, it could make you a better gamer, from learning to adapt to others mistakes and gaining from their methods.

Ok, fine. At the very worst, it could rupture your very sanity, and leave you a drained anti-social monster, hell bent on world destruction. But really, what are the odds of that?

Me and my mage mate leveled up together.

AoE pulls all the way. You can take 3 levels higher than you pulling 8/9 at a time. Shield the mage and flash heal. Mage kills off all, if he runs out of mana a priest can now add holy nova into the works. The fastest way to level in the game guaranteed.
