I was in a town called Darkshire - when suddenly the guards started yelling about some kind of abomination along the roads and to be careful. I had some quests to do, so I left. Upon return and attempting to go down the southern road to get to another quests, this gigantic creature from Warcraft 3 comes shifting down the road. He smacks down a player trying to stop him - and made his way into the city.

It was pretty cool. Apparently it was called Stiches - and the level was something like ?? (which I've seen around a bit and don't know why - searing gorge is one place). The guards actually grouped up and took him on.

Later, I saw a Tauren player in "something" Hill, in Westfall. Players were trying to attack, but couldn't (wouldn't go PvP or something, someone said) - and the guards did when he got to close. then he just stood around and danced. That was actually just kind of dumb, and not really cool.

Darkshire/Duskwood is one of my favorite places in the game. The atmosphere is incredible and Stitches is a constant threat to the lowbies in the game. I remember the first time I saw him barrelling down the road and I thought to myself "do I try and outrun him, or do I take my chances with all the wolves 3 levels higher than myself in the woods. There are other sights to see though. As far as Tauren in Sentinel Hill in Westfall, you probiably do not play on a PVP server and thus he can turn his pvp off and travel where he pleases. Westfall is not far journey from horde territory.

Stiches is great - it's one of the few places in the world where one player's quest progress has an impact on other players. You'll probably summon him yourself sooner or later... and the chances are that you won't be able to kill him at the time...

He's listed as lvl35 elite, but for a melee player he's much harder than that would indicate. Took me until my mid-40s before I could solo him.

Stiches teached me to stay away any lvl with ??. One or two whacks will send you to the cemetary and a long way to walk back.

Haha Good ol stitches! As a horde member, I have learned to love this guy. I love going to darkshire, jumpin on one of the roofs of the builldings and fireballing all the alliance to death while stitch keeps all the focus of attacks. Stitches it extremly powerful, It took me until lvl 46 as a mage to take him down. He makes a wonderful tank for raiding darkshire though!

Always stay away from a ?? they are atleast 10 levels higher than you.

Also sometimes you will see a skull and crossbones in place of the ?? ..certain death.

I've heard about stitches before, but I've never seen him (lvl 42 now with my first character, gnome mage.)...Seems like I really missed something special. Where can I find him, or how can I summon him?

He is summoned when somebody gets most of the way through the quest chain which leads to "bride of the embalmer" (or some such) in Duskwood.

If you've done this quest (likely, it's for around lvl 30 or so) then you won't be able to summon him again. However, if you hang around Duskwood then sooner or later somebody else will do it and you'll hear the Night Watch people shouting about the abomination on the road. Then you can follow the road towards Raven Hill and see if you are a match for him :-)

My first character was a Dwarf Priest. I mucked around in the newbie area near Ironforge for a bit, but ran out of quests and looked on the web to see where all the newbie quests were at. I found a lot in Darkshore, I read it was the nightelf newbie area, so I looked at a world map and planned a route. After a very dangerous journey avoiding high level spiders that seemed to aggro me from miles away, I finally arrived in the spooky town that was my destination. It had suprisingly little quests to offer me. Not long after I found out that that Darkshore and Darkshire are not the same thing.

Sigh...I remember in EQ where you had to try and kill Fippy before he suicided into the guards....oh the days.
