Anyway, Admin Team, there are quite some female WoW players, more than you probably think, and at least five that I personally know of. You just have to look around a bit more, I guess. You probably know this yourself, but more often than not, female gamers don't like to tell anyone their real gender. Mostly because of reactions like Spennce's above (all in good fun, of course, Spennce).

Totally off topic but its the opposite with me and my brother. We play LAN games of WC3 and instead of chatting ingame, we yell to each other. Problem is we are at oppisite ends of a huge house lol

I also play with my fiance, it is a good way to spend time together being entertained without spending a lot of cash.
Aside from that though I know quite a few girls that play WOW, it is a really female friendly game actually. Most girls don't advertise the fact that they are posessed of ovaries though since doing so generally gets some odd responses.
All female guilds have been tried and they generally gather about 3 girls and 40 guys who think they will get a chance for hawt cyb3r ak7i0nz! Good luck with it though, I hope your experiences are not like that!

Actually I know quite a lot girls that play WoW. In my small guild (around 15 players), 3 of them are female.
The rest of us are males, avg age ~ 28 years. So ladies in our guild are not bothered by "guys who think they will get a chance for hawt cyb3r ak7i0nz!" (lol I loved that phrase Cyradis2003). Contrary of that, I always try to help them with quests, items, bodyguarding (hehe PvP server), etc. I even send them some nice items like mechanical squirrels and other cool stuff I find around.
Impressive, but I've seen some ladies playing way better than some leet kiddies out there. Because usually ladies listen, stick to their role, and generally are less greedy (hard to meet a she-ninja in an instance)

I only ninja from friends ... and I am always sure that no one else would want it then I /y NINJA!!!!!! and take it (BOE only)
It has become a race in our regular groups to set free for all and see who made off with the most/best ninja'd loot at the end of the run. (we trade off then if anyone wants specific stuff ... kind of like trick or treating - I like the kitkat and you want the butterfinger - style)

So far after playing for about 2 months, I've played with one girl, and she was really quiet. She didn't really start talking untill I started talking about stupid stuff in group chat. =P
I don't know how many of you play CS, but it seems to me alot more girls play that than any MMO I have ever played, which doesnt make sense to me. Theres tons of blood in that game, heh.
Good luck with your all girl guild, ;]

i also think you will be suprised at how many females are playing this game. I just found out today that 2 of the people i've been playing with for a few months in my guild are female (aswell as the others that i knew about), but then, i rarely ask peoples sex on wow, since being a cynic i would doubt the answer anyway.
Theres a lot of immature kids on this game, so admitting to being female (god i make it sound like a crime) may not be the wisest choice, at least untill you trust the person is mature enough not to spam you with cyber invites. I had a low level human priest (female) and after helping some guy do the princess quest in westfall he then started sending me in game mail with cloth items he had tailored, calling me sweetheart and babe and stuff.. Aaaw its quite sweet really, but it made me realise the kind of unwanted attention a girl could get on this game. I guess i saw the good side of it, people being especially friendly cause they thought i was a girl, but it proved that people will treat me differently if they think im the opposite sex, and im sure its not always in a good way.
My alt character has the pleasure of being in a guild where the MAJORITY of members are female. granted we only have 12 members. ;)
Also i find the same thing as the above poster stated... i was never a fan of CS, i played quake3 - and there SEEMED to be a much higher female population on there than on wow, even though wow would seem to be the more girl friendly of the 2 games.
Anyway, i wish you luck with your all girl guild, the players are out there.. somewhere

My girlfriend and I play together in the same room. I can always tell when she's upset about something I've done or said because she'll only talk in party talk after that :) Nothing like asking "What's wrong?" and then watching her type out exactly what's wrong for the whole party to see.
I personally spend time in RL with 8 people who play WoW. Four of them are female.
About guilds, the first guild I ever belonged to was run by two females. They were friendly, funny, good players, and wanted to build a supportive environment. I don't know the exact breakdown of male/female but there were quite a few females in it without there ever being a problem. The leaders set a good tone and everyone followed along. So it can and does happen. Hope you find what you're looking for.

It keeps amazing me everytime how much people are interested in the sexes of other players in a game. Especially with a MMORPG like WoW.
Personally I don't care if a person in our guild or in a party is male or female. I prefer them to be social being good at their class so that we are having a great time playing the game, instead of knowing that the person in my party has a vagina... on the other side of europe.

I have to agree with this. I play all female toons (i am male in RL), and have no problem conviencing ppl that I am a girl. Now, before you call me a perv, let me explain. I do this for two reasons.....
1) by doing so you can tell alot about the ppl with whom you are playing. Specifically, their age (or at least matuity level) and what kind of player they are (good at their class or just out to show off) and sometimes their RL gender
2) I am a very kind player. When I am playing with a RL female our styles often blend well, and she will play more freely with me (as she is not on guard against all the negative "guy" things mentioned throughout this thread) thus, IMHO, making the game more enjoyable.
On the other hand, it is amazing how many times I have found myself in the postion of having to tell someone that I am a guy to get them to leave me alone (remember the negative guy stuff I mentioned). My wife also plays the game and occasionally runs into the same problem. Fortunately, she finds it amusing and simply does the /ignore.
To end this, let me say, dont feel alone. I know several RL women who play the game. You are not alone.

waiting for someone to say he's playing with his mother
Well, there was this one kid on the official forums. Part of a raiding guild, iirc. He was setting up the raid group on the official forums, was a quick impromptu raid on someplace. I think it was a 20 man run somewhere.
Only problem for this chap. He had a playing curfew, and his mom played on the same server as he did, and he was up past his curfew.. Needless to say, the entire server swiftly learned of the kid who got pwned by his own mother on the official forums. I think the sanction was a week of no WoW for him for breaking the curfew.
Anyway, Admin.. You won't be finding a female only guild. They'd be ruled as in violation of Blizzard's guidelines on guilds and would get disbanded. Unless, of course you're talking about an all female toons guild. Those are allowed.
Anyway, I'd suggest you look for female friendly or GLBT-friendly guilds. Considering those two guild types do not discriminate against players for the gender etc, but simply set up code of standards, which the members need to meet to stay in the guild. They're in compliance with Blizzard's boundaries on what a Guild can and cannot do, and there happen to be a couple of well known ones on the various servers. I think that if you explain you're tired of getting hassles, that you'll find yourself a home with either two guild orientations.
Side note, I tend to say up front when partying with folks, that I'm male who's playing a female character, to ensure that there are no misunderstandings. No negative experiences with that approach thus far, and considering the length usually of my character's name, I also give them the short form to which I'll also respond.

I have similar experiences when telling people exactly what they are asking: do you have a bf? no because I'm 51. The reactions are hilarious. I work in a blue collar environment & in my white collar office area, don't know any other women who 'game' online. there's only 1 that even plays a computer game that that is similar to solitaire.

No worries we all know you are a Chick.
Personally I can attest to the way you get treated for playing a female toon from the male perspective and quite frankly if you can put up with the immature folks out there it does disarm the defensiveness of female players. I have 4 guildies who are on every night who are female and will group with me before even other members of the guild. I have really found 2 reasons: 1) I'm not asking them every 30 minutes if I can get lucky and 2) Gender just doesn't come up at all in vent/chat/period. The best healer in our guild is a woman, but so is one of the best tanks I've ever seen. Gender doesn't mean jack about ability and when guys start realizing that gaming is in for a rude awakening. There are ALOT of female gamers that love to play so long as they are safely anonymous.
I will also say I find that all our females prefer to play alliance, they don't like being "ugly" as they put it.

:-) you get over that fairly quick.
I started as an adorable little gnome - moved to human pally (oh my god mistake! deleted her after being followed around and licked for like 20 minutes) made a nelf hunter - you know, pretty face, long white hair yada yada ... now I have an undead lock, multiple taurens and an orc warrior lady. Loving them all!
I wouldn't go back to alliance if ya paid me. :lady:
@manago that kind of attitude is exactly why female players hide the fact that they are girls. I am thinking that was a joke otherwise why would anyone care enough what a person as dumb, rude and uncouth as you seemed to be thinks to send you a pic?
A lot of guys never stop and think that through. They demand pictures as if a girl is obligated to send them even though the girl has less than no interest in the guy yelling loudest for thyem.

Oh, I don't know. Know this chap who's rather into brains. Well. Technically, he isn't a chap, due to being a hermaphrodite, but that's neither here nor there. Then there's the issue, he's mainly interested in them due to dietary needs, with him being an ulitharid and all that. Who am I to judge??
But seriously, if that mental image doesn't scare him off of pestering ladies for a few hours, then I don't know what will. Well, barring an in-life encounter with some actual ovaries removed from a corpse, but then again, I don't think they'd allow his kind into a morgue, for fear of him humping the residents, and I don't mean the staff either.

Im a female and my now Husband refuses to play just to irritate me. Either way, I love the game and openly admit to being a female. I dont want to take adv of the guys but I do love the attention from my male counterparts. A lock to boot, they seem to love helping protect me and I them. I dont think an all girl guild is necessary, but i can understand where you are coming from at times. I got noobs that wont leave me alone sometimes. And other people just wont stop whispering me.
