Out of leather

I just got my engineering to 100 and thought, wow great Ill make myself some goggles, so I toddle myself off to the AH to buy myself some leather and...there is none (well 6 stacks but they are bid only and on Very Long, I want my goggles NOW), and I check every half hour for two hours and still nothing, eventually one stack appears at double the normal price and I buy it anyway. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Is it possible someone is trying to up the price of ligh leather on the server (10s) by buying it all? I dunno, any speculations, cause it was kidna annoying.

It's possible your on at the wrong time of the day. For example, when I put my leather in the AH I check to see how much is already there and at what pirces. If there is a lot Ill put it for a low cost with a buyout a little above the average bid cost. But if there isnt much Ill put the bid cost high and the buyout at about the same price. Just go on later and you'll probably find more for a cheaper price.

YOu need light leather?!?!

Create an alt, get him to level 5 run to a town, train in skinning and leatherworking and go kill a few things. Getting light leather should never ever be a problem. Even those level 1 mobs drop leather scraps that with leatherworking you can make light leather out of.

I say make an alt and do this, youll never be in short supply of leather.
I personally had(quit WoW for a bit) a leatherworking/skinning alt who I purely used for my leather needs for tailoring/engineering. By the time I got all the leather I needed to get tailoring and engineering to about 250, my Skinning alt was level 25. It was kind of cool, I used him only for helping my other characters, but while I was farming leather I was leveling at teh same time too!

And not to mention that if light leather is NEVER on your AH, you can easily sell any extra light leather you get and make a little gold on the side!

Well thats the thing, it usually is, and the time of day was 10-12pm on a Friday evening. The server itself was pretty busy.

Was it is during the Drakmoone Faire? Leather goes quick for the quests there. Also holiday weekends are big weekends for leather.
When you are in town just post on the trade channel what you are looking for and maybe someone will have some in a bag they need to get rid of.
