Well... I have for some time been working on getting my rep up with the Thorium Brotherhood to get some nice recepies... Since I'm a armorsmith it seems like the dark iron armor is the only one worth getting...
Now I have made it to honored and can make 3 different armors:
Dark Iron Bracers (http://wwndata.worldofwar.net/item.php?id=17014)
Dark Iron Helm (http://wwndata.worldofwar.net/item.php?id=19148)
Fiery Chain Girdle (http://wwndata.worldofwar.net/item.php?id=16989)
as u can see they all sell for a nice lump of gold that would fit just fine in my empty pockets... (yes, I'm a greedy little dwarf...):wink2:
The question is what u think I should take as a fee for crafting them, counting on them having the mats and "bodyguarding" me down there...

It depends.
If they have the ore and want you to smelt the dark iron, I suggest a fee of 100g for smelting and they must provide an escort party.
If they have the bars and just want you to make the item, than I suggest a fee of 50g, plus you get to keep whatever item drops from Incendius, sharded if you can't use it...
I just learned how to smelt DI and I am at the same point with TB. I am in the process of farming the ore to take in for smelting so I have enough dark iron to make every piece for myself before I start turning the rest of the ore for rep.
Cenarion Circle rep is next on my list... lots of nice stuff there, too.

The Dark Iron smelting and forging is not nearly as difficult as finding the other items which can only be found in MC.

Thats true, but the armor itself has some rather nice FR and according to some other sites every part of it is worth somewhere above 1000G
The plans on the other hand is only for Armorsmiths that has put down some time on getting their reputation up witht he brotherhood... I for one thinks it's only fair that we armorsmiths finaly can get some money from our profession...
Take swordsmiths for example, they can real early make the Phantomblade, many players want these and so they make some money... The first plans that gets available for armorsmiths is wildthorn mail and radiant breastplate, as a alliance I would have to sell these to the horde since they are mostly shaman armor...
I thought the 100G fee sounds about fair... I'm going to start a little higher and then let them try and get the price down...

If your realm has a craft list on its forums, try contacting one of the other blacksmiths on it that can craft it and ask them how much they charge.
If you overprice by a lot you'll not get any orders whatsoever.

Agreed.
But armorsmithing is a profession that must be (quite painfully) skilled up at considerable cost. Add in the cost of just learning how to smelt DI and the time, effort and cost needed to get rep with TB.
If someone wants me to make this stuff for them (outside of my guild) it will cost them since I have to fight my way through BRD to get to anvil and a hell of a lot further to get to the forge to smelt DI.
That said, the cores are 200g to 300g. So if someone wanted to pay me in cores for crafting their gear or smelting their DI, I would happily accept that in lieu of cash.

The funny thing is you don't even have to be an armor smith to make the radiant pieces. If the new instance is as rumored a big frost/shadow damage area then the radiant armor set (even though it's only three pieces) should also become another nice seller.

Actually, it's 6 pieces, and nets a total of 92 Frost and Shadow resist. A complete set will take 98 thorium, 20 heart of fire, and 1 star ruby...not too difficult to acquire.

hmm.. last time I looked it up (wanted to make sure I had all the patterns) I could only find three listed. Guess search engines aren't foolproof.
Mats aren't bad at all either... hardest thing is Heart of Fire and that isn't too expensive on my server if you don't want to go grind fire elementals.

I know... there's simply not enough good armorsmithing plans... The imperial plate is a good set for the medium lvls but every blacksmith can make those... wildthorn and some other that I can't remember the name for is best for shamans, making it almost impossible to sell as a Alliance player... The only good one only for Armorsmiths that ppl might want to get is the Dark Iron set, and now they are screwing with that to...
Maybe I just should waste my 300 mining/bs skill and take up tailoring insted
All the Radiant armor pieces btw:

Do not take tailoring it is a waste of time and cloth.....
I'm thinking about dropping it to take up herbing, much more money.

Yeah... maybe Herbalism and Skinning... lots of great things to gather at the high lvls... mining is getting boring anyway...
