Hey, I'm new to WoW, and need to make some money on my lvl 26 N'elf Rogue. My professions are Skinning and Leatherworking, and I've heard that Skinning can bring in good money. My question is, how? What do I sell, and for how much? Any help with this would be great!
Thanks!

Early on you will only be able to get Leather Scraps, which you can turn into Light Leather with Leatherworking skill. However, as you progress, your skinning skill increases, and you start skinning higher level mobs you will start to pick up Medium Leather, Heavy Leather, and some hides such as Light, Medium and Heavy Hides.
All can be used in leatherworking, or sold for decent money.
The price is solely decided by the Auction House selling price, which is different on all servers. Either check through all the prices before posting an auction to make sure you are competitive, or get the Auctioneer mod which basically scans the auction house for you and suggests a price.
and some weird side note. On my server Light leather is a tat more expensive then medium leather, and heavy leather is way more expensive then thick leather. dont ask me why, i cant figure it out either :)
Further leatherworking is only gonna cost u money, the items u make are not popular enough to make a profit on em (exeption being if u can get you one of the few that can make a "hide of the wild")

Heavy leather tends to sell really well since large quantities of it are required to increase Thorium Brotherhood faction. Same reason whey Kingsblood sells so well.

You don't really make good money until you're getting Rugged leather and stuff though.. But it is a nice constant trickle of cash when you're new.

I am on the Whisperwind Server (U.S.) in our auction house, the prime consideration of how much money you make is first of all determined by when you sell it. The price of leather on our server (and other people I have talked to on other servers has mentioned this as well) drops a great deal on the weekends. It does not seem to go up until Monday morning or sometimes late Sunday evening. Thick leather also sells for less than Heavy leather.
It is possible to make money on leatherworking, especially early in the game, if you are careful what you make. Different servers will have different early game items that sell well, and some that won't be touched. However, if your primary concern for leatherworking is to see if you can make money with it, you are better off with another gathering profession like mining.
I have a hunter character who does skinning and leatherworking, but I only took the skinning part for making money. The leatherworking part I took for the enjoyment and to wear what I make.
I started saving for my raptor ride when I was about level 25 or so and had the money for the ride by about level 35.

The auctioneer is a great tip, someone here advised me to do that back when I was level 14. Thanks to auctioneer and skinning as well as a little luck on drops i have been able to pick up many blues for my mage wife and myself as well as the cash for our level 40 mounts in addition to pieces of our magister and devout sets. I still have well over 100 gold in cash and roughly the same in liquid assets.
Auctioneer...i couldn't play without it.
